This is an electrics shop that can boast a wide range of (electrical) goods. If you are after…read moresomething specific then there is a good chance of finding it here. I do, however, have two reservations about this shop. The first is that everything here does tend on the expensive rather than on the value for money side of the equation with many of the good being cheaper elsewhere. The other reservation is a slight unfriendly atmosphere to the place - you don't quite feel welcome. Despite this it is one of the few low end electrical shops in the area, but for me a bit too over priced.

They attended my house for no more than half a day. I expected a bill for less than £250 but received a bill for nearly twice that. They had clearly inflated the hours on the premises and when challenged they mentioned for the first time that the bill included time for them travelling to and from their workshop. They defended this by saying it was standard practice in the industry. They eventually reduced the bill to under £400. The electrician turned up promptly and were competent at diagnosing and fixing the fault. I would recommend anyone dealing with this company to get them to disclose any additional/hidden charges over and above the hourly rate.

I'm sure he'd do things quicker if needed but everything hasn't been urgent or time critical. I got a comparative quote before I got the first lot of work done and Blacklee was a tiny bit cheaper than the other company. Since then I've just gotten an estimate from Blacklee and gone ahead with the work. I have quite a bit more electrical work to be done in the next year and I expect it all to be done by Blacklee. We originally wanted 8 but Kevin spoke to us and recommended 12 and have to say the completed ceiling looked pretty cool. He's just away again after upgrading my fuseboard to a more modern one and fitted some LED spots in my kickplates and the work was done well again. A lot of tradespeople are unreliable but I've found Kevin to be punctual (sends a text when on route if requested) and happy to explain how things work.
