For me this does affect the overall store as the stock is less, the store is more cramped and smaller in both sides as the average travel store would be. I came in here to grab a quick drink to take onto my train, the prices were higher than normal with it down to being a travel store. The manned till was empty and the store was really understaffed which meant a long wait time to redeem and sort out my coupon, which was frustrating as for me a travel store especially should be quick with a staff member on hand to help and there should always be at least one manned till for people who might struggle with one of the two self-service machines or wanting to buy something age restricted such as an energy drink. WHSmith is in pretty much every Railway Station, and although the stock is slight, size, service and overall feel is worse than other travel locations and price is perhaps nearer than nearby locations (remember Grand Central with a Tesco and many other retailers is right above New Street and this store) it still deserves at least two-stars for location and having a satisfactory beverage selection.

If I'm every after a drink, snack, or something to read on the train, I always head here instead of the much larger Smiths down on the station concourse. Newsflow's main selling point is the surprisingly expansive selection of magazines that they have on offer, with more than their wall space seems capable of holding. The prices haven't been ramped up with the proximity to the station in mind, either (a sharing bag of sweets retails for less than £2, which is competitive for anywhere, even large supermarkets), and the staff are always friendly. Even better, there's rarely a queue, meaning it can often prove to faster to go upstairs to Newsflow and then come back down to catch your train than it is to go to the nearby Smiths and queue for five minutes.

The store is a reasonable size and includes a Post Office, gone are the days of the gross old-fashioned carpet, and in comes a hard wooden floor, with the store looking much fresher since the refurb. The store had a reasonable selection, mainly in terms of stationery, cards and other miscellaneous type items you'd expect to find, I would say I was unimpressed by the fridge section however, with the choice of drinks very minimal. Boots next store had both lower prices and more choices! 3* - OK, pretty much filling the average quota that WHSmith must be on every high street, nothing too exciting or special, but far from awful.

I was surprised and impressed when last weekend I used one of the vouchers on some childrens books which were already on the offer of buy one get one half price. They came to £12 and I asked about the voucher and the woman informed me that was not a problem so I got a further £5 off the total, thus only paying for one and a half books and getting 4! The staff are friendly and helpful. The store sells books and magazines at the front of the store, further back childrens books and stationery as well as music and dvds.

They are chatty and helpful, but limited to being behind the till.

It is a really useful shop to have it will provide you with pretty much everything you need i.e sweets, papers etc. The prices are really cheap and the customer interaction is good staff are really friendly. It isn't the biggest of shops so do expect it to be fairly cramped especially when the school kids are out on there lunch time but if you manage to miss them then its fine.

Great place to go if your looking for a cheap new outfit. The changing rooms are very small though and there is only a few available but the store never gets too busy or overcrowded so you dont have to wait long. The store is well stocked, tidy and clean. I find the staff very helpful also.
