I've been told to give her my patient number to avoid saying my last name but every time I try that, she won't take it and the cycle of her having trouble with my last name + then asking me for my patient number will continue. I understand she's trying to keep the call time short but there's no need to be rude to the patients.

The two doctors I have visited - my family doctor (currently on Maternity Leave) Dr. Theman, and her replacement, Dr. Lorde, are young, female doctors (yay!) who are extremely professional and trustworthy. I also don't have to wait forever to get an appointment - since they are both building their practices it's usually pretty easy to get an appointment within a few days of your desired date. While the decor might be a bit dated, and the receptionists a little short (hey, they are really busy!) this is pretty much as good as it gets in terms of a doctors clinic - they even have a blood lab on site and an x-ray tech just a few doors down. If they updated the office it would be a perk - but really I come for the medical advice not the ambiance, so I can't complain!

He wrote up the forms I needed to get some blood work done and sent me on my way. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. I returned the next morning to see the lab tech for my blood work. Though they open at 9 and I was first in line to see the tech, she did not see me until almost 9:30. Once I was in she was great. She had the needle in on the first try and thanks to my excellent pumping skills, I had the vials filled in no time.

The doctors all seem fairy knowledgable. I fractured my tibia once and came here to have it checked out. They sent me right over to Bloor and Christie (about a block away) to get X-Rays done and called me about 3 days later with the results. That's better service than my own family doctor provides! They also have a pharmacy located on the same floor, so you can always pick up your prescription there if need be. FInding a family doctor is hard, so when I moved downtown 10 years ago, I discovered that I couldn't find a family doctor, but I could be assigned to a Nurse Practitioner at WCH Family Practice. For those reluctant to opt for a Nurse Practitioner, I can tell you from my experience, it is better than a family doctor. Anything they can handle on their own is done quickly because you can see them sooner than the overbooked doctors, and when there is something they can't handle, it is referred to a doctor in the clinic or a specialist, so it is the best of both worlds. My Nurse practitioner retired last year and I ended up becoming a patient of one of the doctors in the clinic, and while she is a great doctor, WCH is a teaching hospital, so she is only in the clinic twice a week, so appointments are hard to get. However, WCH family practice offers urgent care appointments in the evenings, so if a doctor can't see you that day, you can see one in the evening, instead of going to a walk in clinic or emergency. The clinic is very accessible, something I appreciated after my knee surgery.

She's totally non-judgemental - I can tell her anything (and have!) and she doesn't even raise an eyebrow. She listens to my concerns and investigates them appropriately, but without ever going into over-cautious just-covering-my-ass mode (I work in health care. I know what it can be like). She has never brushed anything off as all in my head or "just nothing" and I have faith that she never will. She even calls me herself with abnormal results. Really. She's super. But that's not the best thing about Spadina Health Centre. Along with the great location (Bloor and Spadina!) and the friendly, competent reception staff, it is incredibly easy to book appointments (they can always fit me in within a day or two for urgent stuff and within a couple of weeks for yearly physicals) and I have never, ever waited more than five minutes to be seen at the clinic. Seriously. I'll say it again. I have never waited more than five minutes to be seen for my appointments at this clinic. If the horror stories my clients tell me are any indication, this is almost unheard of in Toronto. Sadly for all of you, I don't think that any of the docs at this clinic are accepting patients right now, so it's sort of unfair to even mention how fantastic they are. But I'm at the tail end of the 30 day yelp challenge and I'm really scraping the barrel for review ideas, so neener neener.

I don't understand why people complain about the front desk staff not being friendly chatty etc... they are no there to be your BFFs, they are there to do their jobs... If you want to chit chat, go find yourself some friends! I think they are very efficient and they do their jobs well. Remember that along with checking you in, they are also answering the phone and email and a bunch of other things, so have some patience. For a downtown walk -in, the wait time to see a doctor is very fast. Doctors are great and will take time to listen to your issues. Now with COVID, you have the opportunity to send an email to have a doctor call you back and a doctor calls back within one hour! They can diagnose over the phone and even send emailed prescriptions to your local pharmacy. I really have nothing bad to say about this doctor's office and I truly think it's the best one in Toronto!!

The place is brand new, it's difficult to find if you're new but follow these instructions. From Queen and Yonge (Queen subway Station), walk south until you see the Rexall, then make sure you are on the north east corner of Richmond and Yonge, then walk east. You will see the waiting area of the walkin clinic. Registration took 2 minutes for new patients. The receptionists are very kind and the doctors are competent, efficient, and caring. Other clinics that I've gone to (like Lockwood) make you wait 45 minutes to 1 hour -- sometimes 2 hours, WTF?? That is ridiculous. This clinic is LIGHTNING FAST! ZIP and your DONE. Plus, the Rexall pharmacy is next door!

Holland Orthopaedic is part of Sunnybrook Hospital and in my opinion, you're getting the most cutting-edge, advanced orthopaedic care and treatment. I take responsibility for not asking tougher questions, but I she gave no verbal indication that she knew anything about the disease ... and after following a treatment protocol for three weeks, my hip has dislocated maybe a dozen times in 5 days.
