The actual installation of our backsplash went well. However, they left my kitchen an absolute mess. I cleaned grout up off my floor, cabinets, stove and counter top. We had, admittedly, a very minor area near an outlet that missed grouting. We brought it to their attention not Because it was a major issue, but because it should be remedied. We got back a very sarcastic comment and never heard from them again. Service matters.

Should've walked away right then and there. Stuck around and a lady asked if we needed help and of course we said "yes". Should've said "not from you" since after the first 5 seconds of her talking it was obvious she had no idea about the tile business. Not to be mean, but her lisp didn't help much either. She then left 'cause apparently there were more pressing matters than paying customers. We eventually got service from an associate who was more knowledgeable. We walked away feeling good about the choices we made. Fast forward to installation.... Went to check it out and a good 10 sq ft. wasn't grouted. When we asked about it they said that they ran out of grout. "You ran out of grout?"...Seriously? Would you like me to explain what to do when you run out of grout or do you think you can put your 2 brain cells together and figure it out. What you don't do, is leave it like that and hope I won't notice. 2months later.... Kitchen ceiling started leaking.... You may ask why.... Because the workmanship of once upon a tile is not up to par. It came from the upstairs bathroom through the ceiling. Good thing I noticed before it got worse. Do yourself a favor....you may want to buy your tile there(I wouldn't recommend it) but for God's sake don't have them install it.

I am left with a floor that isn't graded properly, with high tiles and low tiles, creating pools of water when wet ( entirely defeating the purpose). They damaged an existing door and replaced it with a substandard door ( already primed, so I didn't know right away). They botched the base molding, etc etc. They also somehow got my insurance company to pay them , although typically I would have to sign off on the check. I have owned four houses and hired numerous contractors. This company is hands down the worst ; the subs they hire are unable to complete even the most basic tasks. We had just finished a kitchen remodel in January 2019 (replaced all the cabinets, countertops, and…read morelights), but the floorman we'd contracted with had left us high and dry. We had subfloor and while we could have installed the new laminate floor we had, we'd have done a horrible job at it. Lou Gagne was highly recommended to us by a local business, many of whose employees had used his services. We gave him a call that evening. He came out to see us a couple days later and we discussed what had to be done. Install the laminate floor throughout the kitchen, dining room, and attached hallway, install baseboard everywhere but the kitchen, and install threshold where required. He said it would take two days and gave us a reasonable price. OK, so that's the background. Here's what we got. We got a perfectly installed floor, perfectly installed baseboard, someone who really enjoys his work (he sings to his boom box while on the job!), and he fixed some things that a previous contractor hadn't done right because it bugged him and only took a few minutes. The join between the living and dining rooms is perfect. My wife and I did the living room, and not particularly well. He matched the grout lines in the laminate perfectly. In the kitchen he got the laminate floor so close to the cabinets it looks like the floor goes under the cabinets. His idea of using gray grout was perfect as it matches the grout lines in the floor. These walls in our house are not square, but you'd never know it when you look at the baseboard corners. It didn't matter whether it was an inside or outside corner, in close quarters or not, Lou did it perfectly. He also screwed our subfloor down as it wasn't correctly nailed into the joists during construction in 1986. Can you say "squeak"? Not anymore! Lou also gave us some ideas of how we're going to do the backsplash in our kitchen and behind the stove, which we're going to take him up on as soon as possible. My wife and I trust Lou completely. When he says he can do something, he can really do it. Fair price, great work, and it really gives us pride of ownership in our home again. And at some point, we're going to find a figurine that represents what he can do and how well he does it, even if we need to design it ourselves.

He was very accessible, always in contact with us and quick to respond whether we reached out by phone, text, email, etc. His rate was more than fair, and totally transparent for all costs that would be involved. He really helped us plan and basically hand hold and walk us through the entire process from conceptualizing our options, where to buy materials, even color and design recommendations. He gave us an aggressive time window for job completion which was important to us with the Holidays looming; and he nailed it - finishing with time to spare. The work was absolutely meticulous, and the attention to details and small nuances make such a huge difference! He even went around to touch up and improve other details around the area not in the scope of the job; just because he thought it would improve the aesthetic and he takes so much pride in his work. This guy is a real artisan - not a laborer. He genuinely enjoys crafting beautiful work and it shows. Our kitchen came out mint - better than we even expected! In all honesty, he was so good at what he does we would be willing to pay MORE to have him work on our stuff than other contractors. Mike was friendly, upfront and honest from the day we walked into the store. They ordered our product that day and were installing it just a week later. Their installer, Scott, is a workhorse. He does everything by himself including moving your furniture and never takes a break. He gives you a heads up each day regarding what he plans on doing the next day so you can shuffle whatever you need to from room to room. We have a 2,100 square foot house and the entire project only took a week. We highly recommend them and will definitely be using them in the future when we're ready to refinish our basement.
