Probably will return for the location…read more The hotel straddles Krakowska (trams and shops) and Bożego Ciała, where Corpus Christi Basilica stands. Beyond the trams and low-rise building (residential?) is St. Stanislaus Church, which is 5 minutes on foot. It's convenient with shops, restaurants (such as Tbilisuri & Broo) and the Jewish quarter Kazimierz.  This is a decent 3.5/5 hotel (worn-out headboard) on the edge of the Old Town - 20 minutes walk to the Main Market Square or Rynek Główny. The tour manager said they used to stay in a hotel on Rynek Główny, but it had no air conditioning, which is a must for Americans. Interestingly, the tour company has this description on the a/c at this hotel: "Air Conditioning may be operated on a seasonal basis, and with limited hours in season." At street level, they have a reception desk, a Polish restaurant Estragon, a bar, the Gold Cocktail Bar, and an outdoor sitting area. Our room is clean and functional. It might be my fault, but when I used the Uber to call a car to the airport krk, the pickup spot is NOT at the hotel but at a place that is an 8-minutes walk away. Fortunately, we have time and are able to walk easily - traveling light has its advantages.

It's also near the river where there's a popular running/bike path. The Old Town square is about a 15-minute walk- very doable. The rooms are medium-sized and clean. There's space to put your suitcase, clothes, and other things. The bathrooms are small, but come with all the amenities, including a heated rack to help dry your towel. The lobby comes with a bar/hang out area and a restaurant. For dinner, we enjoyed their perogies and traditional rye soup. The breakfast is a feast of hot foods, including sausages, eggs, and pancakes, cold meats/cheeses, fruit, juice, toast, and more. The Wi-Fi is always strong and works!

Rows of smoked meats, fish and cheeses (including my fave oscypek) plus fabulous pastries, made-to-order omelets, a vodka bar for early imbibers and so much more. We only stayed a short time but will definitely book here again next time we visit Krakow. It just doesn't get any better - and for a great price.

Simply horrible. No housekeeping, fresh towels, bottled water or toilet paper. Hotel desk clerk,…read morewho shall remain nameless (I know his name but wish to shame him no more, as he may well be shamelss) tried to blame us and say we left the DND sign on. To put it mildly, this statement was untrue. I guess he is unhappy with his job. Vodka bottle in minibar was obviously unsealed and filled with water. Dingy room with noise from night club across the street until 4 AM. IKEA furniture. No glasses, pencils or soap, other than empty dispenser in shower. Intermittent internet with dial up speeds. No waiters in breakfast room. Four stars? Perhaps in Soviet times. Any response from management is likely to be insincere.

I have relatively positive review. The location is good only a few minutes from the main square, but its right across the street from a gentle men's club. Some of the tripadvisor reviews noted the noise from the club, but I found it to be muted. I got a single room. It's a good size in comparison to other European hotels I have stayed at. The room looks faily clean and the bathrooms are surprisingly very modern. The faucets are so stylishly modern that it took me several minutes to determine how to turn it on. There is also a mini bar in the room. I think it's a bit odd that there is no sheet on the bed separating you from the duvet, but maybe that's common in Poland? There's free wireless, but it becomes very slow when people start logging in. They also have been having issues with the router recognizing iPhones. I was able to get wireless last night, but have been unable to this morning. The gym is extremely small. One elliptical and one cycle. The concierge did recommend running outside in the green areas of the city. He said it was fairly safe. The staff speaks English, but the front desk doesn't keep electrical converters- just some phone chargers. Breakfast is tasty, but not entirely sure it's worth 50pl.

We knew we had made a great choice as soon as we arrived; the staff at the small front desk were warm, courteous and helpful. Located on the main square, the hotel sits on the pedestrian mall. Cars are only allowed before 10am, so if you arrive later it'll be a short walk (3 min) to the hotel itself. The entrance is placed between two restaurants, and is easy to miss, so pay close attention to the signage and look up; the sign is above a courtyard entrance. Don't be afraid to ask waiters or other people working in the area for directions, which is what we did. While this is an old building it does have a small elevator which was a pleasant surprise as we had quite a bit of luggage and there are a lot of stairs to get to the rooms. The rooms themselves are "all mod cons". Well appointed, air conditioned, with small kitchenette (plates, glasses, small stove and small fridge). The beds are firm but surprisingly comfortable, which seems a standard feature of Polish hotels. Another quirk in Poland are the duvets - it would appear that queen/king size duvets are hard to come by in this country, so we were given two single duvets for our queen bed (which happened even at the Intercontinental in Warsaw). They are however lovely, fluffy, warm and cozy. The hotel also has a washing machine and dryer available and they will provide you with detergent if you need to do laundry - which is super nice if you've packed light for a long trip. The staff, as we mentioned, were fabulous. Although one of us speaks Polish there would have been no issue if we were both unilingual Anglophones. All the staff spoke fluent English. More importantly they are eager to help with any requests you might have. In our case recommendations on restaurants, directions and help with tours to the Salt Mines and Auschwitz. While we never did this we also found out that some guests would give them a grocery list and cash, and they would go get the requested items for you - outstanding. They were also quite fun to chat up, and we grew quite fond of our hosts. The hotel is located on Krakow's main square, which is surrounded by a beautiful green belt which made for lovely strolls. You'll find lots of restaurant options in the square, as well as some shopping, and marvellous ice cream everywhere you turn. Our favourite food kiosk was just off the square, very near the hotel, serving marvellous potato pancakes with great sauces. We've forgotten the name, but it's easy to find. Take a left from the hotel entrance, walk about 25 meters, and look for the people devouring these yummy pancakes on the small, stand-up tables out front. Perhaps best of all for us is that the Venetian is located near the Jewish Quarter. A 15 minute walk took us to some great restaurants (more funky than what you find in the main square), the popular Zapiekanka stands in the Kazimierz and some great bars. If you're look of for a really funky place to hear great live music while enjoying ridiculously cheap drinks look for Alchemie; for us it was like being in any one of a number of our favourite New Orleans bars/music venues. A great vibe! Another convenient aspect to the location was the short walk to Galleria Krakowski, a popular and fashionable mall. The walk to the mall takes you to a pedestrian underpass with a wonderful fruit stand which became absolutely addictive with their perfect and super-flavourful strawberries and peaches. The mall also has a PLAY store for those of you with an unlocked phone, where you can buy a SIM chip and pay-as-you-go airtime (buy the airtime with your credit card and not at stores... (Long story). Overall the Venetian is a great hotel that we highly recommend.
