Wonderland MBTA Station - Bus & Blue Line

Here today! Logan…read moreAirport employees have an option to park here and Academy Buses are contracted to shuttle them from Wonderland Station to Logan Airport. It's one of Massport bus station as well as a commuter train station. The reason I say MAYBE to recommending this business is sometimes you have no other options but to frequent this location. Logan Boston Airport contracted Academy Bus company after 2 other companies failed to provide Standard of Care Service and Failures To Meet EXPECTATIONS so they lost the contract. Being that 2 other companies lost work, the other bus companies DON'T like the "new kids" on the block so they make our jobs hard/frustrating. Allow me to explain the experiences we as "new kids" on the block encounter. The losers would not be courteous to us in the airport such as allow us to merge in, merge out, block us in while picking up or dropping off employees, blow, middle finger us and at Wonderland WE better behave ourselves otherwise they would report us to our company for the littlest misdeed. 99 percent of the time it's innocent/a misunderstanding but our company would get on us because Massport has the power to ban our company outta there which with enough documentation could cause Academy the contract. Let me tell the people on my platform something, EVERYTHING has a domino effect whether good or bad. One thing I know for sure, when Lady Karma comes to collect/pay out YA ASS BETTER BE LIVING RIGHT. Here's what happened to me, I keep saying I DON'T BE MAKING THESE THINGS UP! I was new on the shift assignment, I pulled up and the company "security guard/supervisor" was blocking the section we are allotted to pickup/drop off. Now because I'm customer service oriented, ESPECIALLY being an Elite Yelper/blogger/complainer/enthusiast/secret shopper, I'm not a hypocrite when it comes to handling my business and providing my customers with the best customer experience I can. It's raining this particular night and PAUL D with ACADEMY BUS was blocking where we drivers/face of the company need to do our job DROP and PICK simple. I promise on my deceased dog Braylon (oh how I miss my bestfriend), I didn't know he's been behaving this stupidly prior to my joining the company. I innocently asked him a very valid question "Paul, you know your in the way, we pickup here?" Paul: "I know, pull in behind me!" Just as we're talking, another one of our buses comes to drop off and because we know the Masstransit guys get irate with us, she innocently pulls in and leaves her tail swing out, she didn't want to pull up further because ITS NOT OUR DESIGNATED SECTION. As she's unloading, a Masstransport bus arrives WE'VE literally sandwiched him and his passengers in, those passengers who more than likely worked 2 jobs an average of 16 hour work day, wanna get off da dam bus! Here the "New Kids" on the preventing from SAFETY letting him SAFELY letting his passengers off the bus. HERE IS THE SITUATION I'm talking about! Paul goes over to the driver and gets on her because she should have pulled all the way up along side the curb to drop off. Never minding WE have been warned KEEP OUTTA Masstransport way! Same night, it starts raining and passengers are forced to load the buses in the rain because Paul D, in his ego refuses to move his van somewhere/anywhere else, ITS A BUS RAMP dude! Ok, from what Mike Smith (terminal manager) told me, the Government Contract required the company to hire Paul D to "Supervise the drivers", be "Security detail" and be available for the airport employees because the crime rate is HIGH at the Wonderland MBTA Station. When I'm staged waiting on my passengers, I stand at my bus door, twice I was harassed/solicited all while Paul D was sleeping in the van/in plane site! One night a stocky, highly intoxicated Colombian dude (probably American Most Wanted)with a backpack tried to solicit/ harassed me, an employee got his car broken another lady lost her keys and tried to wake Paul up and report the incident but she couldn't because Paul was catch up on his beauty sleep. The Colombian guy thought about my rejection and waited on my return, I wasn't standing outside on his return but was dropping off 3 ladies and he approached them as they were exiting my bus. Where was Paul D on each of these several incidents? Sleeping in the van/in the way/in the bus loading zone after working his other job, he was exhausted. I know Paul's job ego went and tattled on me because I ignored him because he's a bonafide IDIOT. How can I have an intelligent conversation with an idiot? How can someone that doesn't respect/do his own job/respect others ESPECIALLY an employee that makes the company money tell me my tie is crooked? Be respectful and you'll get respect. No I do not recommend this Boston Station because it's dangerous and Massachusetts does not have a concealed hand gun law, you better watch your surroundings here and don't look for Paul to assist. Here today! Gone tomorrow!

One of the most convoluted t stations you've ever seen. Difficult to leave and difficult to get on…read morethe right side of the tracks somehow? I use this station regularly, have grown up using either Boston or New York subways so I'm no novice and still somehow have trouble leaving without getting lost inside because the signs don't make sense and you keep ending up at the garage. Like all I want is a clear main entrance and exit which seems to be the one at the top with the restaurants but unfortunately adding the garage as connected, while very nice for those parking, makes this a very bizarrely "organized" station. Giving it good ratings because it's conveniently near some great restaurants seems unfair bc by that standard, boylston st is nice lol but it is clean

The hotel quoted me $26, and when I called back after being dropped off, they confirmed they have a contract with Saugus Center taxi for $26...so this company seemingly is ripping people off. I recommend you confirm the cost before they arrive, if staying at the Red Roof Plus in Saugus, or beware of the drive of Moroccan decent -friendly but charging more than the contract .

The worst driver ever!!! Took 30 minutes for him to arrive at the Red Roof +. He (of Moroccan…read moredescent, 40s, maybe 5'10", 180#, dark curly hair) was loud, talkative, arrogant, surly, a bit unhinged. There was traffic. I needed to catch a bus. He took a detour and said it would take 23 minutes longer, but wouldn't explain why. I asked questions, most of which he wouldn't answer. He said he didn't want to have any more conversation. Hmmm. I missed my bus. He said the address I gave him was in Back Bay, but it wasn't. So when I asked to go to Back Bay to find another bus/train, he said it was way on the other side of town. He told me to get out and find another taxi. The fare was a whopping $82.95!!!!!!! I handed him my credit card. He said he didn't take credit cards. He asked for Venmo. I use Venmo, but not from my phone. He yelled at me, "YOU don't have Venmo???" As we were in front of a Sheraton Hotel, I went in to use the cash machine while he held my luggage hostage. But first, I took a photo of his license tag. I gave him $80. No tip. He released my luggage. Then I walked over to another taxi who said Back Bay was only a 5-min ride away. The fare was $5.60. He said taxi drivers are supposed to take credit cards. He also questioned the $82.95. Said it was very high. Said my trip should have cost $55, even in traffic. Said I was "taken". I was in Europe for 2 weeks. Did not have one bad experience with people. Everybody was nice, polite. Nobody hustled me. Come back to the U.S. and am victimized, right off the bat, by a fast-talking crook. Saugus Center taxi - Massachusetts license tag: Livery 74330. Buyer beware!!!! (I have a feeling this man IS the company.)

ah yes the 117 (and the 116)…read more These buses run from Wonderland to Maverick via Beach St/Revere St/Broadway/Meridian Street . Like its cousin bus, the 111, the 116/117 are just over crowded and are apart of the "Key Bus Route" project. Pro's Schedule/Frequency - Between the 116 AND the 117 (I get on in Chelsea Center), these buses have a great schedule. Typically I won't wait longer than 10 minutes in Rush, 20 off peak/weekends. So you won't wait long for this bus 116/117 - There is one variant of this route called the 116/117, which, instead of going all the way to Wonderland and turning around. The 116-117 turns around at city hall (just north of Bellingham Square), and does a return trip. Key Bus Route Project - The MBTA this year (2013) announced that they will be doing major improvements to the 116/117 bus. Relocation of stops, 60' articulate buses, and using such things as ITS and GPS tracking to monitor and adjust when the bus is late/early. (Yes I consider this project a good thing, as it will greatly improve service) Con's Popularity - Since these routes are identified by the MBTA as a "Key Bus Routes", it has VERY high ridership. During rush hour, they just can't seem to run enough of them to accommodate all the passengers. Many buses are packed like Sardines in a can. I often will use the NextBus app to see how long the next one is, because if its coming in a minute or two, why wait and stand on a crowded bus when another one will be along shortly. Schedule - This is a con also. Because these routes are so popular, this route often has many delays. I've stopped looking at the schedule and solely relying on NextBus, as the schedule is typically wrong, and NextBus is more accurate. Overcrowding - This is a big deal on this route. As I said above, they just cannot run enough buses and/or keep them on to the schedule. Some afternoons when I get to Maverick to catch it, the platform is so full of people waiting to get on. Meridian Street Bridge - Yes this is a downfall, because if the bridge is up, you could wait as long as 20 minutes for the boat to pass and the bridge to come down. It can really slow down these buses to a grinding halt. Patrons - Yes I have issues with many of the riders of this bus line. First off, getting ON the bus is a challenge when it picks up at Maverick. There's so many people waiting on the platform usually, other people PUSH you onto the bus. People also will cut you in line and no one lets you have any sort of personal space. And then of course the whole stroller issue. On the 116 or 117 buses, there can be as many as 4-6 strollers on one bus (if their's room). They fold up the seats, and block aisles so no one can get on or off. Its very frustrating. AND.. my typical complaints about normal T riders... body odor, too much cologne, dirty clothes, talking loud on their cell phone etc etc, all apply here. (And I think in some ways due to the high ridership on this route, it's even worse here). ---- Overall I am 'meh' about the 116 or 117 buses. However, the frequency of the bus route is great, and I can't really complain, as I've lived where the bus runs every hour on weekends... the 111 is a god send. So I'll still give it three stars.

There's a 117 bus scheduled to leave Haymarket Station at 5:10am on weekdays, getting to Logan…read moreAirport nine minutes later. Perfect, if you've just gotten to Haymarket on one of the many crack-of-dawn buses that get there at about 5:00. The schedule says that the bus makes one stop, at Logan terminal C. The bus driver informed me that the bus makes just that one stop, at terminal C, and at no other terminals. That's nice if you're going to terminal C, but not if you're going anywhere else. So you'd have to walk to another terminal at Logan, or to catch a Massport shuttle there to take you to another terminal. That only takes a few minutes, but it's a pain if you have bags. So I never got on the bus. Bonus: on the day before Thanksgiving, the Haymarket area is swarming with cabs, even at 5 in the morning. It's a $15 fare (with tolls) from there to Logan.
