Albert Heijn

Albert Heijn is just one of those brands you can't escape in The Netherlands, so I wasn't surprised…read moreto see them here in the country's largest Airport, Amsterdam Schiphol, the store is fairly small as an "AH To Go" location, but still has a decent section of essentials including bottled snacks, drinks and a coffee machine. It's located before security, meaning you don't need a boarding pass to enter here, and it can be particularly useful if you're looking to grab a drink or snack after departing your flight before commencing your way into the city. I was unable to find one of the items that I came into the store from, they only had the small kid's sized cartons of milk compared to the larger size, which was frustrating. Prices did seem a little higher than other Albert Heijn locations in the city, probably down to it being an Airport location. The self-service checkouts were easy to use and had an English option, I didn't notice a staffed checkout or any staff members around the store. 3* - The store is fairly modern, the selection is OK, and is useful if you want to grab a quick drink after your flight, if you are able to wait until you get into the city you'll probably find a better selection with lower prices at another Albert Heijn or similar store.

I've always had friendly service here too, plus they take credit cards, which still seems rare in The Netherlands. (They do charge a small fee I think though, for a credit card, like a quarter? Debit/pin cards are free) This store is huuuge too, with a liquor store and drug store on the first floor. This is definitely the biggest Dirk I've seen. It gets pretty busy here, so be prepared for an occasional restocking cart in the aisles and a lot of other shopping carts, but that's probably because it's way cheaper than the nearby Albert Heijn.
Woot! I am profoundly grateful spotted this AH store at the airport as it's become my go-to place…read moreto do food shopping when I fly back to Amsterdam and this way, at least I have some basic essentials in my fridge until I can get to do a full-on grocery shop. I see a lot of folks especially crowd around their Sushi area, cause you can see the chefs making it fresh. But for me, I head to the fruit, milk, bread, cheese & meat section, so have something to eat at home. There's enough self-service and manned counters so checkout is quick enough. Absolutely recommend! PS - there's also x2 Albert Heijn to-go stores at Schiphol Airport, but this store is the full-on Grocery and not the grab & go kind. Yelp 126/ 2019

Perfect for a grab-and-go situation on Arrival Passage 1…read more It's definitely smaller than the full-sized AH at the airport, so the selection is limited to mostly 'ready-to-eat' items and basic groceries. The ambiance is definitely not the same as a huge grocery store in the States. It can get pretty cramped when a few flights land at once, but the staff handles the lines impressively well.
