My girlfriend in particular is a big fan of Cabella, as are the majority of the locals living in the Oldbury area. Every time I have been, I have been offered a drink, which for men is a big change from the typical 'barber' atmosphere. Despite holding a fairly intimate client base around the surrounding area, Cabella remain welcoming and friendly to everyone who walks through the door, including myself! Some logistics now, you can expect to pay £50-£60 for a colour, cut and blow-dry. The staff seem well trained in their field, offering valuable assistance to their customers as well invaluable ideas to those who are indecisive. Despite Cabella's being unisex, I am yet to personally have a haircut there, as I'm to loyal to my barbers, but maybe in the future, especially with this review, I may be persuaded to give it a try!

My tip would be to go in and be specific about what you want and take some pictures. The stylists are friendly enough and they gave me a haircut that didn't prompt me to burst into tears when I looked in the mirror.

If you get in really early, or it's particularly quiet, you might be able to be seen then and there. But this is unlikely - it's a very popular place for a reason! I got there about 10.30am and booked the earliest appointment left available, which was 3.45pm. When I arrived I was met by Abby, who would be cutting my hair. She sat me down and we talked through what I wanted. I was looking for a slight overhaul - most notably getting a fringe for the first time in ten years! She cautioned that the work I wanted doing would be quoted at £23.95 instead of the standard £20 (which is a wash, cut and finish). To be honest I was over the moon with the price, and we immediately got under way. A lovely girl washed my hair for me. She was very gentle and we chatted away whilst it was done. Once I was all squeaky clean Abby got to work. She put some long layers in my hair and cut in the fringe - the style of which I decided based on her advice. Once the cutting was done she blow dried my hair and added a few finishing snips. I was thrilled with the result - it was a complete hair makeover for me, and the best my hair has looked in years. Throughout Abby was chatting a friendly, a real pleasure to talk to. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants a bargain haircut which looks like it cost a fortune. So many hairdressers make you feel guilty about the way you treat your hair, or push you to go for things THEY want to do instead of listening to your wishes. Here I never felt pressured to go for something I didn't like. That said, Gemma would always make suggestions and talk to me about how things would work with my hair so I wouldn't go for the wrong thing.
