I just purchased a vehicle from David Paradis at VW Downtown Toronto, a thoroughly efficient and pleasant experience. He took the time to answer my questions about the car and at no time was I rushed into making a decision. A gentleman. Duncan L. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at any VW. After buying 5 vehicles from this dealer and several more from others I would have expected a higher standard. I brought my new 2021 R line Atlas in for a repair and asked for a quote to fix my windshield chip. Both speedy glass and the guy at Canadian tire said a repair was possible, however my VW protection package covered up to 500$ so why not go to the dealer. After they inspected the chip they somehow created a 2 ft Crack 10-15" away with no connection to the 1.5 month old chip. The service manager said he has video footage it happened on their watch, but they say the windshield needed to be replaced and couldnt be repaired... (after creating the crack why wouldn't you you say that?!) I called VW customer care Canada and they told me they advised the service manager to replace the windshield, he still refused. And VW customer care said they can't force their hand. The service manager bullied my wife into using our entire $500 VW protection plus warranty and claiming under our insurance, (Is this Fraud?!? They broke it!) Then paying their exuberant rates above and beyond what both those wouldn't cover. Almost 300$. While this happened I came by to grab my 2 car seats where I was greated by no one. My Atlas with 2 $700 car seats and a $2600 stroller (silver wave) was left unlocked and I grabbed them and left with no confrontation. Worst of all the service manager had the gull to say me driving with my 1 and 3 year old with the windshield, they destroyed, was as safe as driving as with the nickle sized chip. I wish I could hold this appauling service manager to a higher standard. He was offended I called his department out and expected him to stand behind his team. What a joke. read more

Volkswagen Downtown - 20" Crack they caused while quoting my chip. Speedy glass and the guy Canadian tire can fix the crack.. VW can't.. it's not just a chip - Car Dealers Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

I bought a used 2018 Golf GTI three months ago from this dealership. The guy told me I didn't need a front license plate, right away I was pulled over and told by a police officer that I did need it. Then I had a problem with the car two months later, it started shutting down when I was driving. I just paid $2000 to have it fixed and when I asked to speak to the manager, he refused to speak with me. In the paperwork they say I need to monitor to be sure the car is fixed properly, so it seems like they're not confident it's working correctly. I no longer feel safe driving this car and would not buy another Volkswagen. read more

Customer for over a decade. Have bought two used cars and service them both at this location. I used VW Credit the second time around as their offer was below once percent which made it a no brainer. You have your normal up selling which I bought once but not a hard sell. Professional all around but yes they are there to sell (for commission). Would not recommend trading in your car here - if you have time (and inclination) sell your old one independently. Service is where they really shine. Fair prices, long-time staff who go out of their way to provide and suggest only necessary and clearly state when something can wait or if it is only optional. They communicate extremely well. Lastly, I often use the shuttle but only to work as it can get very busy in the evening. Recommend. read more

Stay away! I have never seen a more incompetent sales department! From being off $1700 on the price quoted till the day my mom went in to sign the contract. To promising free mats and a $100 gas card for this "minor overlook". She was charged for the mats, and didn't get the "gas card for weeks! They also forgot to give her, her plates back after the sale. So she was charged by Service Canada for not having them.Something Service Canada said is shady that they kept them and legally were supposed. To which they just said "sorry our mistake" again! Did they offer to pay that charge, nope!! They are deceptive crooks who prayed on my senior mother! From the Sales manager Mike to the sales person who kept making these errors, Colin. read more

AVOID Service Department - Will not complete WARRANTY work, only want your actual money. This is the 2nd time I've taken my golf to this dealer to get repaired under warranty and they lie about it not being covered under the warranty plan I originally extended when I bought the car brand new. I don't think they get paid as much if they do warranty work vs when you pay for it out of your own pocket. Most recently took it in for a safety issue with my emergency brake - they told VW warranty one thing, and me something completely different so they could collect 200$ from me and not warranty a safety issue on my car. Have been calling the Service Manager Jason for over a week, multiple times and he's avoiding calling me and dealing with this. If you read all the reviews on here, all of the bad ones are about the service department and how incompetent they are - which is pretty much my experience to date. VW Canada needs to replace the service manager Jason and start providing QUALITY service for buyers who invested money into a brand new car and honour their warranty plans that they sell for additional cost when you buy it new. read more

Surprised to read so many angry reviews. We just sold a 9 year old Tiguan that was getting expensive to repair. I found the service department to be a pleasure to work with--polite, competent, fast. My only quibble was upselling, but I think all dealers do that. read more

Okay, so you've decided to get your car fixed by the dealership for whatever reason. Yes, they will charge you an arm and a leg for labour and service, but take that out of the equation and these guys are not too bad, I left my car there on Monday morning hoping to get it back for the afternoon. I wasn't pleased when I found out that although I made an appointment, I was 8th in line. I was upset, but it's not the lady at the desk's fault. I wanted her to assure me I'll get my car back Monday end of day. Despite me getting upset at her, she called me almost every 2 hours to give me an update on my car for the rest of the day. I really appreciated that, and not sure if this was done for all customers. I did notice a difference the next day (I had to leave my car there), when she wasn't around, that it wasn't as informative. Her name was Janice, Janet? ... Car was good and done the next day. Calling the shuttle service was easy, and he promptly picked me up at the time specified and brought me over. My only complaint is that the courtesy vacuum wasn't done thoroughly, someone's fingers left a grease stain on the upholstery and it smelt like cigarettes for a while. I will provide this feedback to them. On the Monday I left the car, I had turned into a pedestrian for a day. Nearby, I had lunch at Morning Glory, a short 5 min walk (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/morning-glory-cafe-toronto) and hung out in the Distillery District. (10 min walk). read more

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE Very Very Poor service... more of a nightmare. Purchased the 2016 Jetta car in Jan 2018 with low millage. Shortly after reporting that there was issue with the car the service manager basically called me a liar. Had the car in many many times and it ruined the summer for me as the car shook so much on the road it was not of any use other than in town driving. Spent $$ to get it fixed elsewhere but the problem was more serious. They did try some low cost stuff but when it actually came to replacing what was needed (Bent Rotors) they make every excuse. The Manager Ali said take the car to whoever you trust and they would make good. I had rotors replaced and submitted the bill and then more lies and fabrication. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE It's sad that we can not give these people ZERO stars. read more

Well, I had a noisy coming from my suspension in the front of my golf R. I took it to a local mechanic and they told me that it was a problem and couldn't fix it, then I took it to the Volkswagen dealership and they told me what exactly I thought it was the problem and fix it. Kinda expensive but it was worth it because they fixed it and that's all that matters. Jay Yom was the one I dealt with at VW and he was great and took care of me. I will go back.. read more

The initial interaction was great but once the security deposit was put down on the car, the dealership seems to feel like they were done with us as customers even though there was a lot more left to finalize. The employees at this dealership seem to be negligent on pretty much everything when it came to servicing and due dates (my car had small damage that occurred on the VW lot since putting the security deposit on it and i had to wait 3 days only to find out that they havent even started the repairs) and they don't like to return calls. The lack of communication with the customers is really, really frustrating and unacceptable. The last two Toyota dealerships we have gone to put this dealership to shame as they have been nothing but generous and understanding. This purchase was not enjoyable and i honestly would recommend you to go somewhere else if you want good customer service. read more

I've been using Downtown Volkwagen for service on my Golf, despite not buying my car at this dealership. I started going out of convenience because it was close to my home and work, but the service has been really great. The last couple times I've gone there for regular maintenance, I've got a couple freebies like VW gloves or new wiper blades. They put my all season tires back on for free as a tire rotation was part of my 45,000km maintenance. Little things like that have left a lasting impression me. I know not everybody is a fan of dealership prices or services but this location hasn't let me down. read more

I purchased my 2006 Jetta from them 3yrs ago, and I've always found the sales and service to be friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile. They have flexible service hours, they wash my car after every service even if I'm just for swapping tires. Also offer a courtesy shuttle to and from the dealership, which is great if you work downtown. I'm happy customer and will continue to go there for service and my next purchase Hybrid or Diesel ;) read more

Did not have a great experience at Volkswagen Downtown Toronto. I usually go to Town+Country, but it is no longer convenient as I no longer commute to Markham. I brought my car in for an oil change after the indicator on my dashboard lit up and was instantly recommended full-servicing, without really understanding the background/history of the car. Seems like they excel at giving standardized recommendations rather than understanding the needs of the customer. I was also quoted 2 separate prices within minutes, by the same person at the service desk. I'll consider continuing to go to Town+Country as my experience there has been better. read more

Young staff that ignore you. Staff is on their phones. This was the 2nd volkswagen delarship I had been too in the span of a week, and it did not make me feel any better about trying to buy a volkswagen. We purchased our car from this dealer and have had annual services done there ever since. While the service was not great, it was generally fine until our most recent experience. First, we were charged an unnecessary diagnostic fee when we told them what was wrong - I suppose this is par for the course. Much worse, a service they performed - that we were told to do for maintenance purposes - was done incorrectly and our car is now (same day and the morning after service) leaking all over our driveway. We live over an hour away and I am not even sure if the car is safe to drive. They offered to let us bring it back in ... but no other concessions have been made. They will not help us find an appointment at a closer dealer in case the car is not safe, have not offered even a partial refund on obvious sub-par & damaging service, and a manager will not even call to speak to us directly - making a customer service agent act as a go-between. We brought our car here, even after moving, in the hopes of it receiving the best service, and, instead, they performed faulty service, charged us unnecessary fees, and won't take responsibility. Abhorrent. Thanks for the free mitts though, I guess. read more

Customer service is great and they get things done on time. But their technicians are probably clueless young folks who aren't trained properly (paid less than the average technician) and do the bare minimum. I've been there on several occasions with car issues and I found myself telling them on what they should be looking at. It's sad to see the rates that they charge and the sort of "blind leading the blind" service they provide. read more

It was the end of lease for our VW and my husband and I needed to find a dealership to return the vehicle, since it was originally from out of province. When we arrived the leasing manager was condescending and rude, and tried to threaten us with repair costs and used completely inappropriate scare tactics to try and get us into another VW vehicle. End result: 1) We returned our car to another dealership that treated us with respect. 2) As a result of the awful experience we will never lease or own a VW ever again. We both look younger than our actual ages, and the salesperson probably thought he could pull the wool over our eyes. What he didn't know was that I am a physician, not that it matters because you should treat all people with respect, but I will tell all my colleagues to avoid this dealership at all costs. read more

I just had a fairly brutal one over the past weekend at the Volkswagen dealership in downtown Toronto that I had to share. Started off with me naively asking the big salesman for his no-haggle price on a new Golf. He was intimidating in size but he gave the friendliest smile and said he would be glad to give me a quote but needed to prove to his sales manager that I was serious first, by showing him my drivers license and credit card. I was an idiot for not walking out right then. Instead I gave him exactly what he asked for. The quote was the sticker price, so I said to him "OK thanks, may I get my cards back? I'd like to leave now." It took about a good 15 minutes of back and forth BS by the salesman and manager, so I decided that I had to follow the salesman to the manager's office, force the door open and demand to have my cards back. My wife and I couldn't believe it. When the manager said "Hold up, wait a minute. Don't get excited", I knew I had to call the police, resulting in and writing my report and naming names. Only after that did they gave my cards back and I left. I didn't think dealerships did this to sort of thing anymore. Outrageous too! read more

Really awful experiences with the service department, I would avoid this location at all costs. I've had multiple bad experiences and separate independent issues where the staff here are consistently incompetent and have no idea how to interact with customers or do their jobs. For example, waiting over a month for parts to be ordered only to pester them and find out it was never ordered properly in the first place. Being told I could come pick up my serviced car on a particular day only to arrive and find out the service department is closed that day. Noone bothers to apologize or try to make amends. I don't have a great amount of confidence in the work of their technicians. Doesn't deserve your business. read more

First time purchasing from downtown Volkswagen Toronto. My first Volkswagen purchase actually. Couldn't have been happier that I went with this dealership and this brand instead to a competitor. They made my decision painless and simple. I didn't have to stress on the price as they offered me a deal I couldn't resist. I will definitely recommend this dealership to family and friends and will return to this dealership in the future to buy my next vehicle. However a small suggestion for the coffee machine, would be nice if there were a bit more variety. read more

Unless you are an experienced car buyer and you feel you can confidently identify any scams. DO NOT purchase a vehicle from the dealership. In particular, do NOT purchase a vehicle is you are young, or female, or can in any other way be identified as an easy mark. This dealership engages in deceptive business practices and looks for any opportunity to take advantage of their customers. I needed a new car ASAP as my previous vehicle had just broken down. Since my father already has a VW from this dealership with which he is quite satisfied, he reached out to the sales rep and asked for a quote for a lease. The quote he was provided with was agreeable to me, and since I was using a rental and needed to obtain a new car immediately for work purposes I agreed to purchase a 3 year lease. When I returned to sign the paperwork 2 days later the rep told me "he couldn't get the discount approved" - what discount? This was the first I'd been told of any discount. As a result I was then presented with a different quote for ~1000 more than I had agreed to originally. This was my first car purchase and I did not understand that I was being scammed - the literal definition of a bait and switch. The rep felt comfortable that as a young woman making a car purchase alone I would be easy to fool, and unfortunately I proved him right. My rental car was costing me an arm and a leg each day and I desperately needed the new car, so I agreed to the higher quote. I told my father when I left the dealership what had happened and he was shocked. He had only passed along the original quote to me because it had been a good deal for a 2015 vehicle, and as soon as my father was out of the picture the rep reneged on the original deal. No "discount" was mentioned him either with the original quote. I understood what had happened then and I was very upset, with the dealership and also with myself for not looking out for deceptive and untrustworthy reps. There have been subsequent dealings that have left me with a very sour taste in my mouth. I am of the opinion that I should never have purchased the car from this dealership and I likely will never buy another Volkswagen, which is unfortunate because the vehicle itself is quite nice. STAY AWAY . read more

Great location right downtown, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Will continue to use this dealership in the future.

I recently bought my 2017 VW at the Downtown dealership and I also just had an issue with my winter tyres. Possibly the worst Volkswagen dealership and service I have ever encountered. Service desk was helpful and nice, however I have yet to take my car in and not had other problems due to poor quality repair. I've had my car serviced there and noticed all the boxes checked for topping up the fluids, only to be driving home and have my service lights pop on for no window fluid, brake fluid etc. So checking boxes as completed when it wasn't done, twice. Had the parking brake repaired only to find numerous gauges and scrapes all over the centre console. I was told it would be replaced, only to find it was heated and milder to look close to how it was before. The spots are still visible. There are still gauges and other scrapes that were not even taken care of. I will never take my car there again to be serviced for even the simplest of problems as I'm scared they will make it worse or cause some other sort of damage. I highly recommend Humberview or don valley. Downtown is s shameful dealership and I will be escalating my issues with Volkswagen Canada since my calls to the service manager are now being ignored. read more

I would steer clear of this dealership. I recently purchased a new car there and it was an awful experience. They take everything great that the Volkswagen brand stands for (ie. the people) and throw it out the window. They don't care about people whatsoever. Came into service for what I thought would be a simple job. I had a cracked windshield on my VW Tiguan and thought i'd pay the premium to get it done "right" by the dealership and use genuine OEM parts. What a mistake. Called to make an appointment and when i arrived at the appointment time, i was told that they did not have the part. Great, wasted visit #1, but oh well, they ordered it and returned a few days later. I dropped the car off and came after work to get it and took a quick look and then drove home. When i got home, noticed immediately that it was a shotty job and it just looked off and on top of that, the inside of my car had three distinct cut marks on it (on the "A" pillar)!! Whoever changed the windshield probably had their knife slip and cut the pillar - three times! i called them back immediately and emailed pictures but everyone was gone for the day.... Called again the next day and was told to bring it back in (trip #3). Then left it for the day. Returned and was told they "re-sealed" everything and that the install is fine and that the glass guys admitted they cut the pillar - what lack of integrity to only admit it after i point out the obvious. Now i have to come back to get the pillar replaced - trip #4. So, after thats replaced, a couple weeks later it rains and - yup - windshield starts leaking. Call again and make another appointment and when i am ready to go pick it up, am told they haven't even looked at it and may not until later in the day (after 5 on a friday and they close at 6 - how the heck would they "fix" it in an hour? no idea - was told in the morning that they would pressure test it, drive it and do the whole 9 yards and get back to me by noon - what a lie).... So clearly frustrated i picked up my car and left a voice mail for the service manager- who conveniently was gone for the day as was the GM. So, still have a leaky windshield and have to go back yet again to see if they can fix it. Lack of integrity, poor service and bad workmanship. Will NOT be recommending this place nor a VW to anyone!! Stay away - they talk nice, but quality of work is not there!! read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Booked 2 appointments over the course of a month to test drive vehicle only to be told when I arrived that there was none on the lot.
