I was looking for a private experience for our family of 3 that doesn't involve a lot of crowds and where my daughter could have private time with animals and this place was perfect! I booked our experience directly through the website: (when you book, I advice you to do it as well to avoid additional fees) https://lostmountainalpacaranch.com/ I booked the 60 minute experience for our family and we were in for such a treat. The owners David and Tina were very welcoming, friendly, and very open to educating us about their farm, the lovely alpacas, their cats, and the super cute guard dog, Bodhi. During the private experience, we interacted with the alpacas and fed them their breakfast, our session was at 10am. We really enjoyed the stories the owners told us about the alpacas and the farm. I really loved the experience as it was just for our group and we throughly enjoyed it, I didn't have to worry about crowds and I wasn't rushed. Can't wait to see the alpacas again the next time we are in the area.

This is a wonderful place to support and participate in. Events: The Garden hosts many kid-focused events. They do farm summer camps, toddler playgroups, craft events, cotillion, storytime, all sorts of things, and they're open to doing even more. Adult events I've seen are based on photography and crafting. There are also seasonal pop-up markets, an October pumpkin patch and community competitions. Volunteer: The Garden does have a few employees and interns but depends on volunteers to help work the grounds and other events. There is actual farming done in the garden, chicken work, rabbit work, even donkey and goat work, repairs, etc. Wednesdays @ 4 is volunteer orientation time. They also host workdays on Saturdays. Other: The Garden hosts Robin's Nest Nature School, which meets in the mornings Monday-Friday during district school semesters. Parking is in the Vinings Lake Church parking lot. We arrived in wonderful spirits, ready to select our Christmas tree, but were met with a cold, unwelcoming atmosphere that, unfortunately, has become familiar. The quiet, passive-aggressive cold-shoulder is loud in its own way, leaving us feeling uncomfortable and unwanted. We have continued coming because our children enjoy the farm, particularly in early to mid-autumn, but this experience sealed our decision. I would genuinely rather drive into the city and sit in traffic than return. To make matters worse, when we visited the animal-feeding area, the attendant shorted our change. After we kindly pointed out the miscalculation, he replied, "Oh, well I don't have any more change." I told him we would simply take additional cups of feed, and he looked at us as though we were unreasonable. Either the math was beyond him, or he assumed we would overpay. Perhaps I am too devoted to my quixotic, Hallmark-inspired hopes for the season, but this experience certainly did not contribute to the holiday warmth we arrived with. I do, however, want to commend the employee who tied our tree onto our SUV. He was the only pleasant member of the staff we encountered. We are happy with the tree itself, but we will now be searching for a new Christmas tree farm. Here's hoping next year brings a lovelier experience. Happy Holidays, everyone.

Robert Hiram Smith and family lived on 800 acres of Georgia farmland where he raised pigs and cows. Today, visitors can see sheep, chickens and turkeys on the small farm and garden. You can visit the well preserved main house, outdoor kitchen, chicken coops, blacksmith shop, smokehouse and even the outhouse. You can see the herb and vegetable gardens. There are also toys and games that kids can play, chalk boards to do lessons, and a loom that you can try to weave. The historians provide a glimpse into life in the 1840s.
