We were on our own for dinner on this particular Sunday night. We walked around downtown, taking in the sights while deciding where to eat dinner. Some acquaintances from our tour recommended this restaurant, and especially their margaritas. So, we started with some margaritas which, as recommended, were tasty. I got a Devil's Margarita (3.5 oz, CAD$13.00), while my husband chose a classic peach margarita (2.5 oz, CAD$12.50). Both margaritas featured Cazadores Blanco, triple sec, fresh lime juice, agave, and Tajin rim. Mine was topped with Cabernet-Sauvignon. For dinner, we chose to share Nachos (CAD$21), plus CAD$5 for an added protein (chicken). The nachos, which were on the Snack & Share Plates menu, consisted of Cold Snap corn tortilla chips, Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar cheese, jalapeños, green peppers, black beans, onions, and tajin spice. They were served with sour cream and one's choice of salsa. There were seven choices of gluten free and made fresh salsas, ranging on the heat scale from pico de gallo (heat=1) to arbol chili hot sauce (heat= 9.5). We went with the pico de gallo in order to get the fresh tomatoes. While sufficiently large enough for us to share as our dinner, we were a bit disappointed with the Nachos. The main issue was that all of the toppings, except maybe the cheeses, were very scant. Overall, we had a good experience, and recommend La Cara. Our ratings for our experience are as follows. Margarita: 4/5. Nachos: 3/5. Service: 5/5. Our server, Shanshan J, was amazing -- very attentive and friendly. Ambiance: 3.5/5. The restaurant is casual and popular. Most of the tables were full during our visit.
