I'll do anything. ________________________ Update: Since I have now completed both the beginner and int/adv workshops offered by Project Bandaloop, I feel this review needs an update. The workshop is a lot of fun, although pretty hard on the body. I figured that vertical dancing might have its challenges, but I had no idea how much a rock climbing harness and nerve endings could disagree. However, that did not stop me from going 4 days in a row...doubling up on pants and shirts can make a huge difference. The beginner workshop (5 hours over 2 days, $110) features a warm up, and then a rotation through the climbing wall featuring bouldering/dance, dance from single point suspension ("pods"), the trampoline walls, and the wood wall. The advanced workshop (6 hours over 2 days, $150) has an additional floor station and focuses on play and choreography more than orientation and skills. The workshops were between 15-20 people with 5-7 instructors. The instructors were great! Definitely gave the freedom to play, while also providing constructive pointers and maintaining a safe environment. The founder of Bandaloop, Amelia, was also in and out, watching the advanced performances, answering questions, etc. While she did not offer me a position in her dance troupe, I am definitely addicted, and will be going back for more. Maybe one day I can have my own trampoline wall. The one downer: the warehouse in Oakland seems pretty sketch upon first approach,. It isn't well marked, and looks kind of run down. It also can be tough getting in earlier, etc because all the doors are locked. However, the next workshop is in a new location close by in Oakland, so this may change soon.

They have Dance Dance Immolation. Essentially, it's DDR, but if you fuck up, the machine SHOOTS A GIGANTIC FIREBALL AT YOU. You wear a complete fireproof suit, and sign a waiver, but I'm sure this is HIGHLY illegal. There are gigantic fire-breathing sculptures, and remote-controlled fire cars. Tessla coils provide lightning and, there are fire filled cauldrons dripping flaming goo. The guy from our work who's associated with these people recently moved to a different job, but hopefully we'll still do the Halloween party here!

My only complaint is that it's been a few months and all the various issues with the city have postponed promised improvements to my space, but that's understandable given the issues with the city taking up everyone's time.

Rodent infestation alert!…read more Man I really wanted to like this place but read on. We stored our belongings here while we were between houses and traveling. All the usual stuff - furniture, clothes, workout equipment, etc. When we got back after 8 months to start moving out, there was a severe rat problem. Piles of poop and pee everywhere. A bunch of our stuff was damaged or destroyed. Furniture chewed up, wedding memorabilia destroyed, our baby bassinet full of poop and pee. They got in boxes of clean coffee mugs, ate the packing paper, and peed all over them. Not what I expected for $500 a month! Before you ask - no, there was no food or otherwise that would have attracted animals. They chewed through fabric and paper so apparently they eat anything. I went to the office and talked to the manager. He said there's nothing they could other than spraying some repellant. Mind you we weren't going to fully empty the unit for months. What am I going to do? Hire a moving company and find another spot? I told the manager that I've used other storage companies and never had a problem like this. He actually said: "all storage facilities have rodent issues". WTF! I emailed the company and the owner 3 times to give them an opportunity to make it right. They never responded. Don't take the chance. Find another place! (For clarity we stored feb 2024 to mar 2025)

I started to realize that maybe I did need to take others advice and update my resume since my last permanent employer listed had been in 2011. I didn't really want to do it because lately I had been doing a lot of temporary assignments and the last being one seasonal, I thought that would look tacky on my resume but nevertheless after almost giving up again for awhile I decided to do so. I revised and updated it on every online site I was registered with including temp agencies. I start receiving calls IMMEDIATELY to the point to where I was turning some invitations down. I received a call from Ian letting me know he saw my resume and thought I might be a good fit for a position he's working on with a client. I confirmed I was still looking for employment and listened to what he had to say. As he was discussing my resume over the phone with me and my last employer, I noticed he had my old version so I couldn't wait to send him my updated resume and did so after we got off the line through my phone(I was out n about). He called me right back very excited and we continued to talk about the position, he said he would submit my resume to the company and that he would like to meet me as soon as possible which was the next day. We confirmed and that was that. 5 minutes later I received ANOTHER call from Ian saying the company really liked my resume and wanted to meet with me the day after. I was enthusiastic but still didn't want to get my hopes up so I confirmed that interview as well and decided to get a bite to eat to celebrate(garlic crab). The next day I arrived at AppleOne ready to register. The receptionist was very nice and helpful, she put me on the computer to look at the safety video and do the questionnaire. Usually when you go to temp agencies they have you do a gang of PROVEIT test which I can't stand because most of the time the test have nothing to do with the positions your applying for and they can be discouraging and sometimes stressful. So I was very happy when I didn't have to do any. I passed with flying colors ofcourse. Then it was time for the paperwork, EVERYTHING was pre filled all I had to do was sign and date which was awesome. Next up came the meet and greet/interview with Ian, we talked more about the position and what to expect and do. Questions they may ask, He was very helpful and it was very quick. After he gave me his card I was on my way, prepared for my interview the next day. So the next day arrives and I head to my interview ready to make a great impression. I arrived on time with high energy, met with the hiring staff, discussed my skills and how I might benefit the company. I enjoyed the meeting and felt comfortable about the position. When I left I contacted Ian just like he asked to let him know how it went. He told me he would contact me when he heard back from them so I pressed on with my day and went to get a bite to eat(Taco Bell following exit) all that talking had me hungry. Before I could even get to my next destination I saw I had a missed call from AppleOne's phone number followed by a voicemail so I checked it and it was Ian telling me to call him back asap. I was a little nervous but excited at the same time. When I called back Ian informed me that I GOT THE JOB! They really liked me and want me to start Monday WOW! It happened SO FAST Ian immediately got busy checking my references and emailed me a little later on that day letting me know they gave me great references. He also sent me an email link to my online time card. Just like that I am set, ready to go. All this in a matter of 3 days. I am now once again a working woman. Thanks Ian and Appleone. We had a great conversation and I was presented with an opportunity with the County. It all happened so fast, I went on an interview within days and started the position after three weeks. The customer service received from AO was THE BEST, from Norea to Jessica to Barbara it was like a breath of fresh air speaking with each of them individually. They were all extremely professional and kind to me that I'm forever thankful and couldn't be happier and my temp job. If all goes well, which it should I'll be a County employee in no time if they are hiring full time positions.

I told them yes, this sounds like a great job and said I would like it, and they asked if I were available to start the next day. I said absolutely. I was excited, and looked forward to it, but I needed to end the call and asked if I could call back in 30 minutes because I was in a vehicle at the time and couldn't hear well and I wanted to to be able to focus on our conversation. I wasn't able to call until 45 minutes later. When I called back they expressed they were not pleased with me calling 15 minutes later than I said I would, and I was then told to forget it, that they didn't want to work with me after all because I was late in getting the tests and paperwork to them, and late calling back. I did apologize, and assured them that I would do the job well and that they wouldn't be disappointed that they sent me, but they wouldn't give it a chance. To just dismiss me and rescind the opportunity for the position they offered, and after taking all the assessments was such a disappointment and I felt they didn't even give it a chance. It was very cold, and premature. I can understand the importance of timing, but this didn't warrant such an action as to rescind the job offer. I am sure this is not a common issue, and that Ascot Staffing is a good company with pleasant, experienced personnel, but I do wish they would have at least given me the opportunity to do a great job as I am confident I would have.

She kindly worked us back in after some adjustments that she didn't have to make. This makes the 3rd year we've been working with her. She is kind, personable, and has a great sense of humor. Jack & Veronica are awesome to work with, they're very transparent with you about bookings, clients, pay, etc. (which is highly important to me). Amount of work has been decent, I mean for San Francisco, there's not much work when it comes to the modeling industry so I'm not complaining. I love how they're easy to work with and they're very professional about things. I appreciate that they communicate well with me and they don't beat around the bush on things. One thing is that their clients are mostly for "real-people" ads, so for girls that have a high fashion look, it's hard to get a lot of bookings/auditions with them. Other than that, truly recommend Boom if you're starting out or need a refreshing new agency that won't lie to you haha.

There are so many independent videographers in the Bay Area, it's easy to go wrong with picking one. I feel very lucky to have found Kosmografia, and Erin Lee, early on. I wish I would have had the same luck with my website development! What makes Kosmo's so great? First off, they have excellent service, great at meeting deadlines, and promote competitive pricing. But what really makes them special is the creative force behind their leader Erin Lee. She not only shoots great video, she's a creative genius when it comes to knowing her subject and audience. She'll take how I like to be portrayed, exactly how I need to market to my demographic, and make it a reality with very little editing feedback necessary. She also excels at producing special effects and moving graphics with in the video. Did I also mention Erin has a wonderful way of producing humor on videos? I recorded an EP of 5 songs there last spring. I had never made a studio recording before, never even been inside a music studio, and didn't know what to expect. What they helped me create went way beyond what I had hoped for. Briget Boyle, the lead producer on my recording, has an incredible musical ear and instinct for what makes for a great sounding recording. She not only guided me through the recording process, making suggestions as needed, but arranged for a drummer and bassist (per my request) on some songs, and provided invaluable direction in shaping the sound. She also added keyboards herself, again per my request and in collaboration with me, which significantly enhanced the songs by adding dimension and texture. With masterful recording and engineering, as well as mixing and mastering, the end result was nothing short of magical to my ears when compared to what I was starting from. My songs went from simple guitar-and-voice bedroom recordings to fully fleshed out, professional and dynamic tracks that could be played on the radio, streaming services, etc. in terms of the quality of the sound. My vision for the songs, how I heard them in my head, was realized to my complete satisfaction- indeed way beyond what I had hoped for as a novice in the recording world. At ModernTone, you are truly in expert hands. They also provide a warm, welcoming, non-intimidating environment. Briget and the team were always friendly, kind, and patient. It is obvious you are working with people who are experts at what they do, and above all passionate about music.
