The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, I even got to have a great eye conversation (I'm a neiroscience student) while looking at my eye exam photos. This place is an absolute fortune and an absolute factory conveyer belt system. Everything is made as complicated as humanly possible for the client so that the doctors can spend as little time with them as possible. Instead, you have to spend tons of time with interns who are so anxious and scared, their hands shake when they put them near your eyes - and who can barely convey accurate info to the doctor that the client is not allowed to go near. My consent did not matter for any part of the process and worst of all, they didn't come close to even improving my eye problem, let alone fixing it - before I gave up on them. I have been a customer to Dr. Freddie Chow for over 30 years. All seem to be going well except the…read morelast few visits. First ordered glasses that were defective and try to sort out the issues and Dr. Chow said it was my eyes because I'm getting old. Shortly after that got new glasses because broke the old ones and the problem was corrected with the new lenses that he declined to take responsibility for because of that improper making of the lenses. Now I have a virtual field test that is two hours away and a defective machine as far as my opinion is concerned wanted to use the Halifax location and said that the machines are different doesn't make sense to me I would not recommend using these guys because they don't assume any responsibility for their incompetence in their equipment very disappointed with Dr. Chow and would not recommend anyone to trust your eyes with someone that you can't trust. Very disappointed and will be telling everybody I can't to stay away from any of the eyes location. Also the glasses they wanted to sell me for $800. I got the same glasses same lenses same everything for $450 at Costco.

So I give Dr. Martin and her staff - which includes her particularly patient optician, Susan Feltmate - full points for making sure that I ended up happy with my most recent prescription, after much fussing on my part. On July 29th of this year I took my glasses into Bedford Eye Care because one of the arms was about…read moreto fall off. I was told the frame was actually broken and a new frame needed to be ordered. The glasses were given back and I was told I would hear from them within a week. On August 6th I called and was told the frames were not in. By this time one of the arms had fallen off and the other arm was hanging by a thread. On the 13th of August I called and, once again, the frames were not in. I no longer could wear the glasses as both arms had now fallen off. I was experiencing headaches from straining my eyes. Kathleen, the person I spoke to on the phone, suggested I come in to see what they could do for me. I went in and met with Leslie. She was a lifesaver! She searched for a suitable pair of frames that my lenses would fit into. I could use these while I waited for the new frames to arrive. It was a lengthy process but she eventually found a pair. Leslie assured me she would look into the whole situation and two days later I was back in and Leslie had my new frames. She quickly replaced the lenses and I was good to go. I can't thank Leslie enough for everything she did to rectify the problem. I was so impressed with her professional manner and her determination to turn a very negative situation into a positive outcome. It was recommended by my GP that I have an optometrist look at my eyes for a potential arterial…read moreproblem. I researched optometrists in Halifax and saw Lang Optometry was highly recommended. I booked an appointment and was told that it would be $160 for an eye exam (which, already, is significantly more than most places). I explained to the receptionist that I was seeing an optometrist for a medical reason and that I wasn't interested in having my vision tested. She said she's just "the lady that answers the phone," and didn't know anything about when or how MSI could cover an optometrist appointment. She forwarded my call to another person, a manager I believe, who explained to me that as a new client it was required that everyone get an eye exam to establish a file with the clinic and that this exam was a nonnegotiable requirement. I told them I wasn't interested in an exam that I felt like I didn't need, and I was told that this was their policy. They did tell me that the exam may be cheaper depending on what was actually involved, which I appreciate, however she was similarly unable to explain to me when or how MSI covers appointments and insisted that I needed to pay for my first exam. I had her cancel my appointment. I called another optometry clinic and the receptionist there was very knowledgeable and able to explain to me in detail, and in much friendlier terms, what my options were. So, I booked an appointment with them, and worst case scenario will be saving $40 as their prices are lower. I've heard great things about Dr. Lang. It's a shame his front staff couldn't assist me.
