I took my grandmother to see Dr. Vo for a memory testing for her guardianship. Even my grandmother didn't have the right insurance Dr. Vo instructed her staff to accept my grandmother anyway She was very patient and kind to my grandmother's senility and cognitive deficits . They laughed a lot during the evaluation. When I asked Dr Vo why she didn't charge money, she said she has an 87 years old mother too. We left with the Harris County Guardianship recommendation in our hands. We are very grateful for the experience. read more

I called to schedule testing services for my child. My insurance was provided and once verified the testing was scheduled and completed in just over a week (10/26/24). The testing professional (not Dr. Vo) was wonderful and great with my child. A preliminary report was provided and we were informed that the final report would be ready in two weeks . It has now been over two months and Dr. Vo is withholding my daughter's testing results because the insurance company is asking for additional documentation and records. My copays have been paid t the office. I am not able to update my daughter's 504 plan at her school or provide these records to her other providers. Her testing records are being held hostage simply because this provider did not do their due diligence in verifying benefits. This is the worst provider experience I have ever had and this I have made an official complaint to eh BHEC. read more

Dr Vo is one of a few Psychologists in the area that able to do testing without a ridiculously long waiting period. They are very responsive and supportive of their patients as well. Highly recommended. read more

I went to Dr. Vo in March 2021 to be evaluated for ADHD. I requested a battery of tests based on a suggestion from a friend who is also a clinical psychologist. Dr. Vo was able to administer some of them, but did not have access to any ADHD-specific assessments and did not inform me of this. Fortunately for providers who do not have such access, they can evaluate patients based on the DSM-5's criteria for ADHD, but Dr. Vo did not. I was given a personality assessment, a depression inventory, and an intelligence test. The results of the intelligence test were that my executive functioning was clinically concerning, but Dr. Vo stated that I did not have ADHD because the WAIS did not explicitly state so. Assessments do not diagnose but give providers the results and suggestions to properly diagnose based on their relationship to their patients or interview of new patients. I was told that it was concerning that I scored superior on one section of the intelligence test, but my scores decreased in other areas. Dr. Vo still did not think that that was indicative of ADHD and told me that I could not have ADHD because my overall intelligence scores were high. At the time of my visit, I was experiencing grief due to the death of two relatives and the murder of one. I was also experiencing a lot of stress related to the pandemic and my job, but Dr. Vo still incorrectly diagnosed me with persistent depressive disorder, suggesting that I should go outside for sunlight and work out, which is not how PDD is treated. When I informed her that I had ADHD symptoms when I did those things consistently, she dismissed me. She also diagnosed me with social anxiety, although Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria is a symptom of ADHD that is frequently confused with social anxiety. Dr. Vo told me that the symptoms I thought were related to ADHD were because of childhood trauma. What she refused to accept was that most of the traumatic things that happened to me during childhood happened long after the symptoms began to show. It is also possible to experience trauma and have ADHD. I also informed Dr. Vo of some behaviors that I display, especially when stressed, but she stated that they were not ADHD-related. A quick Google search of those symptoms will result in articles on ADHD Stimming behaviors. It was very apparent that Dr. Vo is not knowledgeable about ADHD and should not have accepted me as a patient. When I realized that I had not been assessed for ADHD and questioned why, Dr. Vo told me that there is no way to assess for ADHD, which is not true. Dr. Vo ignored what I know about myself, ignored the results of the battery, and ignored the DSM-5. Luckily, I was intelligent enough to seek a second opinion, which resulted in an ADHD diagnosis after being given a battery of ADHD tests. My experiences with Dr. Vo have given me hesitancy as it relates to behavioral health providers. Instead of gaslighting me and making it appear as if I did not know what I was talking about, Dr. Vo should have simply stated that she did not have access to those assessments, or more importantly, did not know enough about ADHD to evaluate someone for it. I would not advise going to Dr. Vo for psychological assessments, especially if you are Black. There are many (Black) people with ADHD who are high functioning and intelligent, but she clearly has a bias against us. I have been evaluated by more than one provider since working with Dr. Vo, and I have yet to be told that my symptoms are related to PTSD and not ADHD. read more
