We'd plant a new bush, cut down a dying tree, add flowers, try hostas, arrange grasses, grow beautiful dahlias etc. No matter how much we dwelled on the yard, arranged and rearranged plants, the yard looked terrible. So after years of not quite getting it right, I went on the internet, found Erin Lau and scheduled an appointment. I had to wait about a month for availability in May. When Erin came to our home, I explained what I was hoping to achieve . . . a plan for a yard with street appeal. Erin walked around our yard discussing what we wanted to keep (nothing but the sidewalk) and what we could maintain (water). I then brought Erin a chair and a glass of ice water, so she could sit outside and sketch. After 2 hours, she provided us with a drawing plan that included plant placement, with botanical names/common names. My husband and I lreviewed the plan and could see it made sense. Erin's choices accented our large statuary rocks. She chose hearty clumping grasses, lavenders, sedums and two beautiful red maples that once established would require little maintenance. Out of our jumbled mess Erin designed a cohesive yard that we could still use existing rocks and walkways. My husband and I spent four weekends implementing the plan. Our yard is modern, united, and is appropriate to our fifties brick house. I love sitting in my car across the street admiring the new front yard before I pull into the garage. We've received so many compliments from neighbors and people walking/jogging by. I would highly recommend Erin. She is smart, talented, knowledgeable and easy going. An absolutely wonderful collaboration! On another note . . . we also purchased our plants through her and were satisfied not only with the reasonable prices, but also the health and quality of the plants.

His communication was excellent throughout, and he was genuinely receptive to our vision for the patio. When unexpected issues arose during construction--an exposed foundation and a renegade pipe requiring replacement--Miguel tackled each challenge quickly and effectively. He even gracefully adapted when we discovered the fire pit needed repositioning due to code requirements, finding a solution that worked perfectly. The project did take longer than initially estimated, stretching to about three months rather than a few weeks, but this was entirely due to spring weather and the need for consecutive dry days to pour and cure the concrete properly. Miguel's team worked as soon as the conditions aligned and delivered excellent finishing touches and cleanup. What impressed us most was Miguel's genuine pride in his work and commitment to customer satisfaction. Every detail showed care and attention. We installed a backyard rain garden with Stone Soup Gardens through the Seattle Rainwise program…read more(which, incidentally is an awesome program). Stone Soup Gardens brings a level of understanding and detail to the design process that we could never expect to achieve, and made the process easy and straightforward. They are certified by the Rainwise program and are keenly aware of the rules and limitations, as well as having close relationships with the city to help make sure that your rebate is on its way. SSG specializes in edible plants, and we worked closely with SSG to design what the raingarden would look like, as well was what our favorite plants and potentially foods were. The main person we worked with - JB - was easy to work with and very responsive. The designer they contracted out - Jackie - has a great sense of design and helped to put together a beautiful garden with great flow. Once the process got underway, SSG was quick, professional and kept us in the loop every step of the way. They went above and beyond, helping us to transform our garden, even re-using elements from our own backyard, such as bricks and pots. We would gladly work with them in the future.
