But afterwards we've been asked several times to provide the same information. The communication went through the AirBnB, then moved to WhatsApp before moving back to the AirBnB, then continued through both channels. In the reservation it was mentioned how an agent greets the guests and hands over the keys (it costs 30 EUR btw.). The time of the check-in got moved several times. We wanted at 15h, they suggested 13:30. After waiting for about half an hour, I called, and they told me that we have check-in planned at 15h?! They then said that they could send someone at 15:30. But just after 30 min someone called to say the agent couldn't meet us and asked to pick-up the keys from a safety locker "5 minutes" away. This turned into a 10 minute taxi ride which we paid. However, we weren't able to enter the apartment because someone changed the locks. We even heard a dog barking behind the door. Everything was so fishy. Our reservation got promptly cancelled and the host stopped communicating with us instead of offering help. It was not funny at all. In February, without accommodation. They even told me that I am respectlos. Really?! Although we got our money back we had to find a solution ourselves. Zero stars!

These nasty people refused at first to refund my Reservation Deposit and also tried to Jerry-rig the rent payments to overlap....incredible! ( Hint: they like to wear soft shoes!) A friend recommended Conor and he immediately pointed out the illegality of what was going on. I resisted their bullying of a 70yr old man and eventually got a new contract. Soon I will buy an apartment of my own and I will be glad to have Conor to guide me through that process. His services include connections in Design and Construction, as well as running his own agency. Un Saludo, Conor.

Then, wouldn't ya know, what seemed like the perfect apartment was on one of those websites. It was the right price, the right location, the right size, layout, light, view..... we just loved it. What to do? The apartment was listed by Finques Urquinaona (FU) and thus began our relationship with them. Our one friend in Barcelona saw the apartment in person for us and videotaped his tour. After many discussions and much trepidation, we decided to buy the apartment. (Gulp!) From March through June, through the negotiation, reserve, nota simple, questions and answers, money transfer (very scary at first), and the contract process, I would email, sometimes daily, in my bad Spanish, asking questions. FU never failed to answer clearly, encouraging us, supporting us. We saw drafts of all the paperwork via email and could revise as needed. They told us exactly what was needed in documentation and cost beforehand. They arranged an English speaking Notario for the closing. We saw the apartment first hand the day after we arrived in Spain, the day before the closing. Pau, from FU, handled an 11th hour sticky situation in which the prior owners had taken light fixtures and a mirror that should be with the house. They were returned before the closing. He went back with us to the apartment to make sure. Whew! The closing went splendidly with no surprises. We were delighted. The Euro is down as are housing values in Spain. It was a perfect time for us to buy. But we have another year before we can move to Barcelona. On to the next step. We needed guidance on how to rent the apartment out for that year. Once again, FU, (Maria Jesus is the owner) proved wonderful. FU provided assistance through all necessary painting and repairs, told us the furniture to buy for the renters, helped us get our utilities changed, and more. Then they took pictures and posted it for rent. They work with relocation programs with companies......and the first person who saw it rented it for top dollar. Now Finques Urquinaona is managing it for us at a very reasonable cost. We couldn't have been happier. They are high integrity, lovely, knowledgeable, clear, helpful people. Pau speaks better English than he'll admit to. And with that and my husband's Cuban childhood Spanish, we had no worries. I can't recommend them highly enough. I consider it a special blessing that they happened to be the people listing the little apartment we fell in love with. With each step of the process successfully achieved more of our fears dropped away. We'll forever be grateful.

From then on it was all smooth sailing, with the very professional assistance of the entire team. Jose took me to the policy office for the NIE, accompanied me several times to the bank for account opening, to the Notary office for the transfer of ownership, and to the gas/electricity company for the change of name, and finally to the municipal office for tax payments, so on and so forth. Jose's proficiency in English was also a big plus. He even acted as an interpreter in my interaction with the bankers and utility providers. All those services were beyond my expectation, as there was no fee charged on the buyer, and Jose did it all for free. Ana took care of all the paperwork, and it was amazing that the documents (offer and counter offer; downpayment agreement) were all bilingual, making it reader friendly for non-Spanish or Catalan clients. Carlos, the head of the office, offered words of wisdom whenever we ran into complex issues, and provided backstop and confidence. The whole office is like a seamless team with clear division of responsibilities and cooperate whenever needed. In my search for housing, I worked with several realtors, including 3 big names and several boutique offices. Aliga stood out as the most professional, reliable, and client-oriented company, and it leads the second by far. Now that we have run the entire process from house showing to registration, we are in the best position to recommend Aliga without any reservation to anyone who happens to search for a home or wants to sell a house. You will find it a crown jewel and you will never regret working with them. Even to this day, we continue to feel extremely lucky to have met and worked with Aliga. Jason, Nancy and Jun

The hotel emailed the following morning stating the room type I booked was not available (even though I was able to book online) In fact the property was sold out so I couldn't stay. So I canceled my entire stay here. Now the hotel claims because the hotel wasn't canceled within 5 days of arrival, I would need to pay the penalty fee for the rooms. However, I continued to explain to the hotel the cancellation of my stay was not on me, it was on the hotel. Therefore, they shouldn't charge any late fees. But the representative via email continued to argue and say it wasn't canceled within 5 days of arrival. It makes no sense. I booked the reservation 3 days prior to arrival and it wasn't voluntarily canceled. Beware of this property and poor manager. They will do anything to keep your money.

It seem to go down at night and back up again i the morning. Let's do the pro. 1. Location is good and next to Rocafort metro station. It is only 20 mins to airport by taxi. 2. There are some local bar and restaurant and mini-market for you buy groceries and drinks. 3. The staff are not there 24 hours and office is closed after 6 pm but there is number to call for emergency. 4. We used the washer and dryer every day since like bring few cloth for travel and like our attire clean. They provide detergent and cleaning supplies for kitchen too. Free coffee and tea bags. 5. Room are big and spacious and feels like an apartment instead of hotel. Bed is very comfortable for my standard. The not good stuff 1. Internet is not reliable and always down at night. It is however fast if it is working. 2. We stayed for 7 nights and they clean only once so we have so much trash and not sure where to dump them. They should be more options to clean up and change towel. 3. The elevator is small and slow. So walk up stairs if you don't have any luggage. 4. I wish it was queen bed and not double which is small for 2 but most hotel are the same here. Overall , I would recommend and hope they fix the internet. That is everyone priority now especially when you need to buy ticket online and check in for airlines. It is overall 4.9 stars for me.
