This is a pay before you eat establishment. Portion size of the butter chicken and garlic naan is enough for two people. Rice was also included. I loved it all and would be willing to come try more dishes. Also tried an appetizer that was fried veggies with two dipping sauces, which were both delicious! Service: dined in. They refilled our waters, checked in enough to ensure we had everything we needed and food came out at a reasonable pace.

We called in and ordered takeout from Vjs on a Wednesday night. Basic order: butter chicken, tikka masala, and naan. Good portions and spice levels but we will not be returning solely based on the naan they gave us. Completely burnt and inedible. How does someone prepare this and think it's okay to serve?

I'm honestly shocked at how bad this experience was. Ordered Mysore Bonda through Uber Eats -- every single one was raw inside, just dough, not cooked at all. I even have pictures to prove it. When I called the restaurant, they told me to come pick up the food myself -- completely defeating the purpose of delivery. Then they promised to call back about a refund but never did. This isn't the first time they've messed up my order, but it's definitely the last. Uncooked food and zero accountability -- avoid this place!

3 Pieces Idli Chutney - delicious, skip the peanut chutney. 4.5/5

Food: Shrimp curry - tender shrimp in a rich tomato base curry (mild but still had a kick, if you don't like spicy drop below mild) masala dosa is large and well portioned with potato filling comes with a red curry/chutney (delicious) 5/5 Idli - delicious, skip the peanut chutney. 4.5/5 Chicken biryani boneless - star or the show chicken is roasted with masala then cooked with rice. Loved it we got it spicy . Paired with the raita yummy. Ask for extra lemons 10! Aloo paratha - medium tortilla sized good with raita and get that red sauce that comes with Idli/dosa now that's a good pairing. 10 also. Drinks: Mango and sweet lassi - 12oz pretty good. portion size: well sized portions service: I liked that they were pacing the food but some of it was a little disconnected. Our server acknowledged and apologized but would be good to be aware of pairings apps + drinks. Overall super nice and friendly soo 4.5/5 Ambiance: great for any group and they have a cute rickshaw in the front. Parking: Plenty of parking Payment: Note: this is a pay before you eat establishment. apple pay and card are both options. not sure about cash.

I am not sure why this place has less rating it deserve it 5/5. Veg & Non-Veg thali both are delicious.

    Receipt

I'm a regular customer at Vijay's Kitchen in Sacramento and have been coming here for a long time. Normally, I enjoy the food and service, but today's experience was completely unacceptable. I ordered the Paneer Tikki Burger. When I was placing my order, I asked the employee what came in both the Paneer Tikki Burger and the Masala Burger. He said both come with patties. I specifically asked what each patty was made of -- he told me the Paneer Tikki Burger has a paneer patty and the Masala Burger has a veggie patty. I even asked if it was a garden patty, and he said, "No, it's a different veggie patty." He then asked me, "Paneer Tikki Masala?" and I said yes -- because that sounded like a mix of the two burgers I had just asked about, both of which he said came with patties. When I got home and opened the burger, there was no patty at all. Just lettuce and tomato -- nothing else. I checked the receipt, and I was charged for the Paneer Tikki Burger, so where's the paneer tikki then? I called the restaurant to explain the situation, thinking it was a simple mistake that could be fixed. Instead, the person on the phone argued with me, insisting the Masala Burger doesn't come with a patty -- even though I clearly stated I didn't order the Masala Burger. He completely ignored what I was saying. When I asked for his name, he refused to give it and continued to argue. I said I called to see if they could fix the problem, he refused. At that point, I had no choice but to hang up. For a place that I've supported as a regular customer, this was the worst experience I've ever had here. It's not just about the missing patty -- it's about how rudely and unprofessionally the situation was handled.

It's close by and they have a private lot so I had no issues parking. Parking is a big thing in my life when it comes to my turn to drive. I knocked another of his suggestions as parking was questionable there. When we arrived we were able to get the first parking spot. I though the place was going to be empty as we got the prime parking spot. As it turns out there was a party of 8 already seated when we arrived and another person picking up a to go order. A couple more people came for to go orders while we were there. While we were there we weren't joined by any additional diners. It may be because we at so early. We arrived at around 5:15pm. Early for a Warm and Sunny Spring Day. We ordered the Maharani Dinner. It included Samosa, Chan Masala, MatterPaneer, Navratilova Korma, Naan, Rice, Raita, and rice pudding for dessert. It was plenty to share and only $19.99. We also ordered the Lamb Saag Wala with the creamed spinach. He thinks there was a whole pound or more of spinach in that dish. We ordered the Dinner Medium Spice and the Lamb Saag Wala. I think we should have gotten them both medium. They were really good. My favorite dish was the Chana Masala. I've seen some people order this Dinner on there own and them and their companion both get a Dinner, but we feel that is too much food so we share a Dinner and still have some to take home as we always order an additional dish to go with it. If we didn't order an additional dish we would finish the Dinner. The Dinner is such a great deal. Soon as we discovered it we've been ordering it every time. They also have the Maharaja Dinner for $24.95 and that is the non veg variety so it comes with Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Seekh Kebab, Butter Chicken, ect. Both are good choices. For drinks my husband ordered the Mango Lassie, it came warm, he asked for a glass of ice half way through and poured the rest over ice and it was much better. This would be an even better drink if they blended it with ice.

This time during our dine in we had the most negative experience at this place. We ordered choley bhaturey, 2 pieces of Samosa and the tandoori platter for the dinner. The samosa were very average, the choley bhaturey were good but when the tandoori platter arrived it looked loaded with red color, upon tasting the meat tasted and smelled bad, also the flavors were totally off. We raised the concern with the server and mentioned have had only one bite the whole thing was untouched, their solution to the situation was no refund, they can instead give a curry in exchange which was barely $10-$12, while the platter costed whopping $28.50 plus taxes, which we didn't accept and left the place. This place has a very basic ambience but I always rated this place well due to consistency in taste of their vegetarian food, and always ordered with instructions to go easy on oil. We have decided to never visited this place and would not recommend it either and if you are all this place, please avoid their non-vegetarian dishes.

We were greeted by the sweetest waitress, who promptly took our drink order and then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu without feeling rushed. For appetizers, we chose the Nepali samosas, mushroom pakora, and goat cheese naan--every single one was delicious. I usually order the Chicken Tikka Masala, but this time I decided to switch things up and try the Butter Chicken. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Paired with the garlic basil naan, it was perfection. A little piece of naan, a small scoop of basmati rice, and a drizzle of that rich, flavorful butter chicken was absolutely chef's kiss. The portions were generous, and I had plenty left over. Now I'm genuinely looking forward to lunch tomorrow so I can relive the experience all over again. The paintings were beautiful...and I caught myself looking at them for moments at a time. Now then...I'm working a lot of OT this week, and getting a cold. So, treat myself and help with a cold is two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The butter chicken tasted like lukewarm jarred sweet and sour sauce from a Chinese restaurant...no spice, but nothing resembling any butter chicken I've tried. The chicken curry was...salty...I guess, but not much other flavor. I literally was the first customer...and the samosas were not crispy at all....too soggy. Plate 2 wasn't much better. The goat curry was the most flavorable of anything, but not the best I've had. The tandoori chicken leg I had was borderline undercover. I NEEDED spice today, people ..kill this cold. While some of your patrons are Caucasian, we're American...not British. We like spice. For $24, I expect a buffet of much higher caliber.
