Bubbles...bubbles...and more bubbles, Cava to be specific. The western coastal region of Spain is…read morevery popular for its version of bubbles, that being Cava. Cava is an all day drink for most spaniards and I totally understand as it is quite tasty and honestly rivals its big brother (Sparking and Champagne counterparts). I was fortunate enough to visit Cava Llopart which is one of the regions most prevalent Cava producers. It is about an hour drive outside of Barcelona into its mountainous region with spectacular views of the valley and distant mountain ranges. They have plenty of parking and do not get a ton of foot traffic, so expect a more intimate experience. The basic tour is about 19 euro, but they do offer a more inclusive tour for 35 euro and all with senior discounts. I opted for the latter which was one of the better tours I have had in some time. The staff all speak fluent English and are incredibly welcoming and very knowledgeable when it comes to their craft. Make sure to take in all the history of this winery as it dates back quite some time, and really shows during its winery tour especially in the caves. Of course the highlight itself was the sit down tasting with bites! The Cava itself was out of this world, and so affordable! Of course they were willing to ship to the US, but I preferred to grab a few bottles for the remainder of my vacation (Lasted only a few days!). As with most wine in Spain, do not expect to see to many high priced bottles as they thrive on affordability versus overcharging their guests. I would recommend this winery and tour to anyone honestly who is looking for a day trip outside of Barcelona as it was surely a highlight in my trip!

Pro tip: Go early in the day because (1) that's when the light will be the best for photos for the incredible view over Montserrat and (2) these cavas are so good, you should taste them on a fresh palette!
