I am pleased to see a critical location like the Margaret Todd Senior Center in Novato. The campus…read moreis large and offers sports for all aged enthusiasts. There are more than a few offerings for seniors from daily classes which can be found in the Novato Park and Rec booklet. If senior want an adventure, they can choose from trips to gambling casinos and other road trips from several turn-styles located in the lobby. This is also the location to rent Novato owned locations like the Novato City Council Chambers. I was pleasantly surprised to talk to friendly staff and see free donuts for seniors. The lobby is a wonderful sitting area for people to gather and hang out. There is a smaller gym in the main building and several rooms for activities. There is also a library. A gift shop is located in a nook of the lobby that features handmade crafty objects and second-hand jewelry, and household items. I bought a few amazing pieces of jewelry. This is a little boutique of what looks like a consignment shop. Check it out before X-mas. I would recommend that you take a walk around the large playing field or take an inexpensive dance class through park and rec Novato.

For the rest of us who are approaching "over the hill," this center is a hub of activity and offers a surprising array of classes, programs, outings and educational opportunities. The center is run by the City of Novato Parks, Recreational and Community Services department, and, in addition to the kinds of things you might expect from a center for seniors (bridge, bingo and billiards, to mention a few), there are great exercise classes for the young at heart, numerous events that encourage social connections, and they even have a small cafe providing lunch several times a week. This place is a great source of activity if you prefer to stay busy and aren't ready to start acting your age.

They have their favorites, when new HCA's or CNA's would be there i'd try my best to help guide them around since they just get thrown on the floor with no info on what to do and get yelled at if they miss one chore. I don't recommend working here they treat agency employees like $hit. And complain when they're short staffed, they don't wanna work there because they get overworked and disrespected period. They have no right to treat employees the way they do and the elderly also get mistreated by the salvadorean old lady named Maria & the asian lady that do night shift, i've seen it all.. they don't have cameras in the locker rooms $50 was stolen from my purse and i know it was the dark skinned caregiver who works private care on the second floor since she always had something to say about me and always hating saying stuff abt the agency workers to get us in trouble while she steals in peace. Shame on you all

The Tamalpais is probably the finest retirement residence that I have found. As a member of the…read moreclergy, I have had the opportunity to visit many senior retirement communities and The Tamalpais is stellar! The staff are polite and professional. The residents are contented and friendly. Their Assisted Living neighborhood has continued to have deficiency-free surveys for many years. Their skilled nursing (Health Center) has been named by U.S. News & World Report as a "Best Nursing Home" for several years and they remain a five star rated (the highest) skilled nursing by Medicare and the California Department of Public Health. If I were to need help or assistance, I would choose The Tamalpais.

It won't be a waste of your time. Drop off what is nice but not needed so that someone who really needs it can have it! Note the specific open hours and donations accepted times on their website. Tip re. Dropping off items: Donations are received at the rear of the building, down the immediately adjacent driveway. Back down it if you can. It's difficult to turn a car around at the bottom!

Marin is the Mecca if you are either an ordinary shopper or a reseller in the high-end resale market this is a fabulous cause as well. They dress people who are looking for a new start and help them get professional clothes to go to interviews and such. The donations for the store come from very nice and wealthy donors in San Francisco and other areas of Marin County. The prices here are amazing. I mostly shop for myself but occasionally find something well enough price that I could resell it. They have a five dollar rack where they put everything that hasn't sold in two months. I found some amazing things on that rack today. I also bought myself some lovely things spent more than five dollars of course but not anywhere near the actual value of these designer pieces if you are anywhere near this place, you must stop by and support this wonderful cause.
