Presentation, taste, & service were all outstanding, supported by an extensive wine list. My wife, daughter, & I all agreed this was one of the two best meals during our vacation in Alsace and Switzerland. And while the town of Riquewihr can be over-the-top touristy during the day, by dinner time the crowds are gone and the town reclaims its charm.

The first night we had the Menu 48E (63E with wine pairing). The Espuma of potatoes with mushrooms, escargots, bacon and onions was rich, earthy and sublime. The Simmental beef was excellent and was beautifully complimented by an exquisite sweet potato gratin layered with a delicate sweet potato puree. The apple tarte was so beyond perfection that I can't even find words to adequately describe the intensity of flavor. The second night we had the Menu 32E (47E with wine pairing). The crab tartare was lovely and the roast salmon, with slightly smoky flavor, was excellent. Both evenings started with an amuse bouche of warm asparagus soup with what was described as a coffee cream with nuts. It was delicious. The wine pairings were absolutely perfect as was the Cremant aperitif. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Impeccably nuanced food, rich and yet not heavy, warm atmosphere, excellent service.

Our German friend is a Michelin guide afficianado and was impressed with the restaurant's library of Michelin guides, so we knew we were in for a treat and we were right. The server spoke all three languages, so ordering was easy but deciding what to choose was not. My munster cheese appetizer was like nothing I had ever had with delicate flavors, just the right crispness to the cheese and it came with a light vinaigrette mixed salad. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his rabbit with apricots, and I loved my pike perch with pike dumpling, small vegetables strips with ginger and fresh coriander which was beautifully presented. Our German friends loved their foie gras and trout. My cherry sorbet was flavorful and the creme brulee creamy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It has a lovely…read moreoutdoor seating area and serves regional Alsatian specialities, including the hupsa pfannala it is named for. My friends and I ordered one of those (with wild garlic cheese), a tarte flambé with mushrooms, and a pork shank (knuckle?). The tarte flambé was awesome! Imagine a thin crust pizza covered in creme fraiche, onions, ham, and mushrooms, then blanketed in cheese. Yup. Delicious! The hupsa pfannala was less to my taste, probably because of the type of cheese used. It's a mix of potatoes and ham with cheese baked on top. All things I love, but somehow it didn't float my boat. The pork was amazing - it was braised until every bite was tender, richly flavorful, and just falling off the bone. Fantastic! Overall, a great place for dinner when you've finished sampling too much wine. It fills up quickly, so either show up early for dinner or make a reservation.

But then we got in and sat for 15 minutes before being served without the restaurant being full / busy. We also waited to get the water. Good thing food was amazing (snails + regular salad.) Restaurant could have get a better review if the service would have been on point.
