They don't carry my favorite brands though. After a while of me searching around, a woman asked me if I needed help and I told her what I was looking for. I was saying it wrong, so she just stared at me. So I spelt it and the light came on. She pointed at the fridges and said it was in there. Sure enough it was and they had two different strengths. It cost me $6 for 400 grams. They have a small selection of whole foods and bulk foods. They also carry homeopathic remedies. I didn't feel the service here was the most helpful ever and since they don't carry my favorite vitamins, there are other health food stores I would rather go to.

The store isn't a joy to shop in, as it's rather stark and cold, but it does carry many different foods and supplements that are hard to find elsewhere. I found their prices to be reasonable, so I picked up some organic fresh dried thyme and garlic sea salt for my future culinary adventures.

You can usually get toys, patio furniture, BBQ accesories etc, for around 50% off or better. Then I like to head over to the computer and AV dept. and see what sort of Manager's specials they might be having. Once upon atime they use to be willing to get rid of older stock at basement bargain prices. It seems as of late, there's been some belt tightening around the stores. They will however give you an item for "last sale price" if you ask. That means if the item you are purchasing has been cheaper withing the last 30 or so days they will give it to you for that price. I can say I have purchased quite abit of electronics from London Drugs over the past 10 years. Everything from computers to DVD players, and flat screen television sets. A few hours later, the pain hadn't lessened and found her unable to sit up. Poor roomie! "Should we get you one of those donut cushions?" I joked. "Yes! I think I'm going to need one," she replied in a much more serious tone. How do I even know about donut cushions? My mom had one when I was a kid. I even used that thing as a sit upon for camp. While we contemplated where we could find one for her, I remembered this medical supply store down in Bridgeland that I've passed many times before on my walk into downtown. The wheelchairs in the window made it stuck out as the "old people's store" in my head. They had to have a donut cushion! And they did. Healthcare & Rehab Specialties is run by Karen and Murray. Murray was the one helping me out with the donut cushion. "How big is your friend's behind?" Murray asked quite seriously. I've never measured. "Normal?" Came my reply. How do you give an approximation of the size of your roommate's ass? "You know what? If it would fit me, it would also fit her," was my final answer. No need to call a friend! As he rung up our purchase (it shows up as the "invalid cushion" on the receipt), Murray informed me that they were not so much a store just for the old and the not-so-mobile, they also carried massage supplies, exercise balls, dyna-bands and a variety of other healthcare supplies. Who would've thunk?? If it hadn't been for a bruised tailbone, I would've continued on thinking that Healthcare & Rehab Supplies would be a stopover for my more elder contacts. First impression officially blown out the window! Friendly, helpful and small town in the big city. Thanks for your help Murray! The donut cushion is totally helping the roommate :).

In NorthWestern Ontario, a drug store is a little shop with a pharmacy, and a small selection of toiletries. My first impression when I first walked into a London Drugs, was that I had just entered a department store. What impresses me about this location is that it has a wide variety of kitchen appliances (which I have a weakness for), and it also has a few key items of affordable housewares. I have bought a few little microsuede ottomans from me, that were relatively inexpensive, and every bit as in style as anywhere else. Why spend $100 at a furniture store, when you can pick up these accent pieces for $29.99 at London Drugs? The cosmetic section is always a weakness for me as well. They have such a wide selection and it is just too easy to browse through and see what's there. I rarely come out empty handed. All in all, this location has certainly served me well over the years. I have never used the pharmacy here, but I tend to shop in there a few times a year, and enjoy the experience.
