I had two gum grafts and from start to finish was impressed by the professionalism and wonderful service in the office. I initially received the quote for the work and was able to schedule the appointment without delay. Everything went just as explained with the procedure (and cost) - the high tech office setting coupled with the calm presence of Dr. Van Scoyoc made the procedure, frankly, pretty darn easy. I was given follow-up instructions which, since I followed, meant no hiccups in my recovery. Based on my experience I highly recommend Dr. Van Scoyoc.

Pinehurst Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center (located at 95 Aviemore Drive, Pinehurst, NC 28374)…read moreis WITHOUT QUESTION the most disappointing dental practice in The Sandhills and Moore County. "The Help" was far from helpful. The Administrative Staff was so unprofessional--they ACTUALLY discussed patient records where the whole waiting room could hear, and they werent shy about expressing negative opinions regarding patients whom they obviously didnt care for. On top of that? My appointment was scheduled at 1:40pm. I not only waited well over an hour just to enter the treatment room, but i wasnt seen by the doctor for at least 35-40 mins. I wasnt able to walk out to my car--visit FINALLY completed--until 3:45pm. Over 2 hours later. These people call themselves professionals? I call them as well as their bogus-ass "practice" a JOKE. Sumbody clearly needs to PRACTICE a whole lot more, if their intent is to stay in business.

Beware of non-transparent billing practices…read more I'll start with the good- The office was clean and modern. The staff were all very nice and my teeth cleaning and exam were great. Now the bad- After my appointment I was, to my surprise, told by the front desk that I owed $407 for my exam, cleaning, and X-rays. The receptionist then informed me that their office was out-of-network with all insurance carriers and that I would have to pay in full and submit my own insurance claim (they later submitted my claim as a "curtesy"). I was completely shocked. The receptionist then stated that I was told this information when I made the initial appointment. I am 100% positive that this conversation never occurred because I would not have made the appointment if I had been informed that they were out-of-network with my insurance. I assumed that I would get my teeth cleaned and then pay a normal copay at the end of my cleaning because I was never told anything different. On my arrival to the office they never once mentioned that they were out-of-network. They never provided me with a treatment plan or estimate outlining the cost of the visit. The first time they mentioned cost was after my appointment when they surprised me with the $407 bill. My husband and I figured that this was a misunderstanding and called the office manager to try and resolve the situation. We figured they would acknowledge that the entire situation was a simple mistake. To our surprise, the office manager blamed me for "not listening" to the receptionist when I made the appointment (again, this conversation never occurred). She said that they have a script that is read to every patient and implied that I was lying. She then went on to say I should have read the fine print when I signed my pre-appointment forms online. To be fair, after looking back at the form, it does state that "all dental services are charged directly to the patient." Even so, since their insurance/billing practices are not the norm, they should be personally discussing their policies with new patients prior to dental services being rendered. When questioned about why they did not provide me with a treatment plan or estimated cost prior to bringing me back to the exam room, the office manager said that if I "was so concerned about insurance coverage, why didn't she ask for a cost estimate?" Again no empathy, no transparency, no accountability. In the end we asked if, under the circumstances, they would consider discounting the charges. They refused saying "that a service was provided" and that they had "trained our staff to clearly communicate our policies." In the end, my insurance paid $98 towards the visit and I am responsible for the remainder. This will be my one and only visit to Hubbard Dental due to their deceptive billing practices, blaming attitude, and complete lack of empathy towards a situation that they created through a simple lack of communication.
