The dental care is good, but the administrative practices are not. My children were not taken back for their appointment until 20 minutes after the scheduled time and 25 minutes after our check-in. No proactive information was provided explaining the delay. Although we requested to have 3 simultaneous appointments for cleaning, the appointments were actually scheduled sequentially. At the office, the team was able to accommodate an earlier time for one of my children, but that would have been unnecessary if our original request was accomplished when booking the appointments. read more

honestly this was a waste of time. i started the process to get dental implants over a YEAR ago, and nothing is done or completed, the anchors fell out, they made me give them a $200 deposit for my next appointment and told me i had to pay at least $800 for that appointment and when i had to cancel because i didn't have $800 they said they were gonna charge me $200 AGAIN. now im over $5000 out and nothing is done. do not waste your time here im sure you can find someone much more competent at a much more reasonable price. read more

I was told today by Dr. Dickerhoff that he diagnosed me with a condition that was quite common to the "negro" race. When I confronted his use of the word and advised that it is offensive to say "negro race" I was asked by him... what was wrong with the word "negro." This isn't a concept that should have to be explained to an educated dentist in 2019, yet here we are. Needless to say, I advised that clearly I'd selected the wrong establishment to have my oral care performed. To the commenter of my review: a very unfortunate event indeed, but with all due respect, you were not on the call... negro race was used by Dr. D to describe cenentomas being common to African American women... nothing ive stated above is untrue and at best Dr. D could've apologized especially since he knew it was offensive and tried to self correct to African American. Instead, when asked about his use of the term, he doubled down with "whats offensive about negro." Well if you used that terminology in day to day practice, i think it'd be clear why I took offense and I don't think I'd be alone. You folks can howl untrue but I stand by my experience and my review. I can only hope that others don't have the same experience as far as this goes. read more

All because I asked to reschedule and because I didn't get back to them in time. Sad. I expected better. I took my family here because we had a few friends go with positive experiences. Nice front office staff. Cleanings were always pleasant. However, my son was having issues with his back tooth. Dr V (who used to be at this practice with Dr. D at the time), disagreed with Dr D's approach with my son. Ultimately, I went With Dr D's treatment plan which recommended saving the tooth instead of pulling it. It would also require a crown. Now, after three dentists have now confirmed the tooth should have been pulled and not saved (what Dr V recommended and challenged Dr D on) I regret following through with Dr D. Around the same time as my son's work, I was told at my appointment I needed a crown. The price tag was hefty and with six kids and a military budget - I held off until I could... When I went to my new dentist for cleanings I told them I was aware I needed a crown. After the check the dentist said I didn't need a crown. He asked why I thought that and I told him about Dr. D's treatment plan and what he felt was needed. He just shook his head... today I had three fillings done $72.... As I reflected back, I remembered the friends I did have that went there... had children that always had lots of dental work done. After the last three professional opinions ... I have come to the conclusion that there are Dentists who may be a little more honest with treatment options. Just because the office is nice, staff is sweet and things seem great... doesn't mean they have your best interest over their profit. If you choose to go here - always get a second or third opinion before ANY work is completed. read more

My first experience as a New patient for teeth cleaning only was awful! Be ware ! Unaware that all current xrays would be needed for a teeth cleaning visit when the office upon checking my excellent insurance coverage was aware had been completed as it was already populated in my chart upon arrival of the over 2 month wait for the appointment. Not once did they reach out during this 2 month period to request the known xrays which existed or make me aware these would be needed for the appointment. I fill out 4 additional papers upon arrival which again has NO indication that current xrays will be required . I ask the dental assistant when I am made aware why was this not communicated in the 2 month waiting period so these current xrays could have been sent given it was "required" for a teeth cleaning appointment. Her response was I am not sure but you can proceed but it will be out of pocket today . I said No, and then it gets worst .. I go to reschedule so I can request xrays needed abs they want to charge me $45 fee for the visit as a NO show as I am clearing there abs it is a breakdown in their process or lack of not getting a good insured patient to pay more or the insurance to take xrays which have already been done. Look at the process and if a new patient has current xrays per your insurance inquiry, send an email or text ( as you do slot of those ) to request them as you make them required! Poor poor service experience! Would not recommend! I requested a call back from someone from their parking lot when I left ... no call back that day !!!! Again speaks volumes... beware !!! read more

Super friendly and attentive staff. This was my first time here bringing my son and I was VERY impressed with the entire visit. The office is very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the wait time is minimal. This is a great pediatric dentistry as well. They have televisions on the ceilings so that the children can watch a movie to be distracted by what the dentist is doing. Then afterwards they get a blow up balloon made into something and get to get a toy out of their machine. When we got stationed here I hadn't been to a dentist in years. I have sky high anxiety in any type of medical situations and when I was told I needed quite a bit of work I was close to a panic attack just thinking about the procedures. But Dr. Vitelli and the staff were so amazing and calming. They gave me all of my options and walked me through the processes and procedures before they even started and then continued to explain while they did it. I had the nitrous oxide (even got to pick a flavor which my husband asked if I went to the dentist or a spa lol) and I ended up not even feeling the shots. The whole work was thorough and done perfectly. I have one more appointment and will be good as new. My kids go here too and we as a whole family have had a great experience! Honestly avoid this place. I went twice & it was more than enough for me to never go here again. They seem to over book people to get more money. Mainly military patients. So of course they are over priced. They make u fill out a mountain of paperwork. They are also pretty rude & I had a hygienist who wasn't cleaning everything as she should have & when I brought it to her attention she got angry. I'm sorry but I'm not going to let you put ur hands in my child's mouth after seeing you touch the computer with your gloves on & not changing the films. Nope no way. Not too family friendly either because they won't see more than 2 family members in a visit. I really gave a long list on what I did not like about this place. Unfortunately, it is hit or miss with this place. As an adult, I have had great experiences; however, after changing our children to Spring Lake Dental Group it has been mostly disappointing. My daughter's recent appointments have resulted in the dental hygienist/ assistant tech lady being rude, inconsiderate and demanding. It seems to always be the older tech/ assistant ladies who are impatient and rude with both of my children. The tech/ assistant that was working with my daughter's orthodontist today was named Andi. She was trying to place spacer equipment for the orthodontist but kept forcing the piece to fit. It wouldn't fit, so she jarred, crammed, and kept trying to force it in. I could tell she was getting frustrated and my 9 year-old daughter would cringe and make a little noise when it started hurting. Andi rudely said to her, "I don't know why you're making noises when I'm not even touching you with the tools!" And without giving my daughter a chance to explain herself, she continued to pry and shove the spacer appliance back in. Again my daughter winced in pain so Andi again rudely replied, "I know it's not hurting you because all I'm doing is applying pressure!" Finally after she got her hands out of my daughter's mouth, my daughter told her that it wasn't the tool hurting her it was her fingers pinching her lips against her teeth. And instead of apologizing Andi says, "that's why you need to open your mouth wider!" I'm very tired of this type of treatment. Come to find out, the orthodontist found the issue was that the spacer was too narrow and all that the Andi had to do was widen the spacer with the key. Imagine if the staff was trained better and practiced patience, Andi would have realized that all it took was a turn of the key to widen it up, rather than getting frustrated and taking it out on my daughter. Staff should not talk to children this way. And they should not invalidate their level of pain. Pain is subjective and completely up to the patient experiencing it. Not all of the staff members at Spring Lake Dental Group are this way (which is why I have not brought this up sooner) but it seems to occur more often than not and I feel it is time to address this issue. If this facility is going to welcome children patients, then please train ALL staff to welcome children patients as well. I think this facility has great potential, but a lot of their staff is starting to put a damper on the image of Spring Lake Dental Group read more

This was my go to dentist before my husband and I PCS'd overseas. Upon returning I made an appointment with this group, had a WONDERFUL hygienist who thoroughly took care of me, saw a doctor for about 5-10 minutes, received a treatment plan, was pressured into an appointment and was sent on my way. Because of my husband's job I had to reschedule the appointment. Upon calling to reschedule was told the only way I can make an appointment is to pay a deposit on the service. I've decided that I need to find a dentist who can understand that my husband is military and our schedules are constantly changing. I called early enough for them to schedule additional clients in my window. I just think that requiring a deposit because the client calls days ahead of the appointment to reschedule is wrong. It's not that I cannot pay a deposit, in my mind its the principle of not caring about the clients situation. To me, it feels like they have basically stated, screw you who cares that you have a life, we need our money and I'm not sure if I want people like this providing my dental care. read more

My family has been going to this dental office for roughly 9 years. I can say that my family will be looking for a different dentist. My daughters last visit about 6 months ago they prescribed her Valium to take before a filling was done. I gave it to her as prescribed-and when we got there I was informed that someone neglected to click save for her appointment. Accidents happen, however, knowing they made this mistake and she was drugged they still refused to take her. And then today. I take my grandson in for his appointment. He was to have 3 teeth removed by a dental surgeon, in the last 6 months. I have not been able to do this yet due to getting sick and having half a breast removed, reconstructive surgery and everything else that goes with that. The dentist told me " You might be busy but this needs to get done". Ok, That was upsetting but I took that and moved on. Then comes the woman in the main office. Who also decided to chastise me and tell me they will not see him again until this is done. All because I told her I have to get someone to take me the 1 hour to the Sanford office and will schedule it when I find help. I have always been diligent with my children's health care.
