Honestly Im still using them, but the communication and training is an issue. I think the care givers need to be taught a few things about cleaning, elder respect and psychology of patients with dementia and how to coax them to do things they need to do, like bathing, changing their clothes regularly and other personal hygiene stuff. Also the caretakers need to clean the areas most used by the patient more than once a week, especially bathrooms. I was told when i hired them that i didn't need a cleaning company or a pet care person any more , so I let them go . The girl also had a car for transportation which is no longer the case and its a big issue for an elder to be stuck with no freedom especially since we took away his car and license for safety concerns. I was also told that she would water plants . This all seemed a reasonable expectation for $10000 a month plus $70 dollars each week for food. Its expensive as hell. Now the story changes as the employer and employees change ,and it becomes an effort to get the proper care. Experience is lacking and training is really needed, so is consistency. I wont say they are terrible, because there are really horrible companies out there that are just taking advantage of people and throwing anyone in there, but when i hire someone to care for my parent, i don't expect my parent for whom I have POA to be calling the shots and telling the person what to do and what not to do especially when they are not the one who signed the contract. I just want my parent cared for and protected and living in a clean safe environment which requires an individual to walk around the home and make sure its safe and clean and healthy . I expect fresh air to be let in and being a fall risk, for the parent not to be left alone outdoors. It concerns me that the health of the care takers also seems to get worse and worse and weight gain is obvious and to see them sitting more often than my elder parent is an issue especially when the elder parent needs to be motivated to move and stay limber when over 90. This is not a job for everyone, mentally it takes a toll so the health stuff is understandable, but I'm paying a fortune for this service! One other note: I had spoken with the company about finding a more appropriate match for my parent and they didn't even discuss it with my parent which caused my parent to freak out and verbally go off on me when told with no notice they were removing the help he so loved from his home and replacing them, even though my parent complained about them constantly. My parent told them that day to get lost, fire her and ill hire her myself. Come to think of it my parent complains about me every day too. Maybe I should be fired. Oh wait I cant be I'm stuck with this responsibility whether i want it or not. Its not easy! read more

I arrived for a shift this morning to find another girl there to cover for me. There was a lot of confusion because I didn't know why someone would be there to cover me when I hadn't called out. Called the company and spoke to M. M says she has it listed that I quit my job on Friday, but I never did. Calling Friday to unfortunately have to request to cancel a shift due to emergency unforeseen circumstances with my childcare, I would have expected to have a little more understanding during a global pandemic with school being out- but I didn't get that. I did inquire about any options I would have available regarding unemployment goes, but never physically or verbally quit. Ended up speaking to K in HR, and told him what had happened and that they said I quit when I didn't. He was of no help. He said it stands where it stands right now and that's it. An inquiry about unemployment options and having to cancel one case wasn't a full on voluntary invitation to terminate me and then say that I quit my job. They did what they did because they were upset that I had to cancel last minute. That was a very unprofessional move on their end , not to mention a direct reflection of how their company works . Also, they operate poorly. Every person I have cared for complains about the lack of relationships they have with caregivers because there are so many in and out. The say they give you bonuses and gas money for picking up cases last minute but I have yet to see any on my paystubs and I had been working there for about 6 months. I would not recommend visiting angels for care, nor would I recommend visiting angels for employment. The pay is low, survivable at the most, especially the nearly triple the rate they charge an hour, compared to what we are actually paid. They are greedy. You don't get to build solid caregiver/client relationships because you're always being jumped around. The staff has a few rude ones working there and I expected more especially during a pandemic. Stay away. They did something very wrong and unprofessional. Please look around, read reviews and hire private care. This place is terrible. Again, go elsewhere. Ps. Thank you for admitting you terminated me. Totally goes against what you as well as HR said to me on Monday about "quitting and requesting to be removed from my shifts..." after all, that is what your notes said, right? Not a very pleasant experience. When you first call them they appear to be on top of making arrangements for your loved one. I was promised a phone from the managing female director regarding plans for a home health care health worker. After a month I realized nobody was going to contact me. Luckily I did hire a professional agency that was kind, caring and responsive. Then I received a phone call yesterday from this woman accusing me of not returning her phone calls. She had my cell phone number and my husband's cell phone number, neither of us got a phone message. I was in total dismay when an administrator would call you, yell at you and then hang up. I called Visiting Angels back right away and the woman was on a business call. Really? I am so happy I never used Visiting Angels. I believe this is a true depiction of how the carry out business. Nobody wants to have unprofessionalism to care for an elderly loved one. I did find another agency that was awesome. The provided loving care and so professional. Please heed my advice! read more

Horrible agency with horrible service. My uncle got very ill and had to be moved to in-patient hospice. My aunt has dementia and can't be left alone. They day they moved my uncle, the hospice nurse brought in Visiting Angels to have full-time live-in service for my aunt. We had no choice in the decision. When the nurse called us to tell us my uncle needed to be moved immediately, we rushed to the house and Harvey from Visiting Angels was already there to get us set up. The only good thing I can say about the aid they brought in was that she kept my aunt's house clean. Otherwise she did very little to care for my aunt. We would be at hospice all day visiting my uncle and when we came home, she wouldn't get up to get my aunt set up with dinner or anything. Just sat there while my mother and I had to do everything. Most days she would text me and ask me to bring her take out food for dinner. Although she claimed to have memory care experience, she clearly had none. She called me constantly complaining that my aunt was crying all the time because her husband wasn't there and she was scared. She wasn't calling or texting because she was concerned or wanted me to know. She did it because she had no idea how to handle her. She said she wasn't used to people crying all the time. We called Visiting Nurses to complain and request a new aid. They replaced the first one with an aid that was worse. On 2 separate occasions my aunt wandered outside by herself without the aid knowing. Thankfully one time my brother was there and the other a neighbor saw her. On another occasion, we walked into the house unannounced and found my aunt all alone at the kitchen table with her breakfast in front of her and was crying her heart out. The aid was in another room watching TV. It was my understanding that the aid was supposed to provide companionship and support, but clearly they don't. Another day she let my aunt leave the house with someone without telling anyone. The aid never called me to tell me that someone was there that wanted to take her out, nothing. Just let her leave with the lady. With my aunt having dementia, she couldn't tell us who she went with and didn't even remember leaving the house. The aid paid no attention to my aunt other than making her breakfast. Aside from that, she was playing on her phone or watching TV. Two separate people also witnessed the aid speaking to my aunt very harshly and in a scolding manner. I couldn't wait to fire Visiting Angels and get them out of my aunt's house. The day I called to cancel the service a Director, Kelly, left me a voicemail asking why we were discontinuing service. I tried calling her back after the aid left, but she never returned my call. Clearly they could care less about customer feedback. During the 3 weeks we had their service, I never received a call asking how things were going or had anyone check in with me. All they care about is collecting their fee every week. Please beware and think twice about ever entrusting them with your loved ones. I wouldn't entrust them with my worst enemy. read more

NEVER use Visiting Angels. My grandfather was a patient at a nearby rehab center who has a history of getting confused and pulling out his feeding tube, thinking he was going home. Upon expressing our concern to the facility, we were recommended to Visiting Angels. We spoke to the manager, Harvey, who gave us a long spiel about the benefits of hiring a nurse to watch my grandfather any hour of the day, for as long as needed, to make sure he was safe at all times. The nurse would not be required to give medical care as the facility had staff that would be responsible for that. His or her only job was to stay with my grandfather for a period of time to make sure he didn't pull out his tubes or try to get out of bed by himself. If either of these things were to happen, they would call the staff on duty to help. Both Visiting Angels and the rehab facility were fully aware of my grandfather's history of being unsafe and we were promised that he would be looked after. Confident that all of his safety concerns were communicated and being promised they would keep him safe, my family hired a 24hr nurse to watch him, assuming the shift would be split up as there are laws for how many hours straight an employee can work. When the nurse showed up for her "shift" that evening, she had a suitcase in hand. My aunt who was visiting with my grandfather at the time asked her why she had a suitcase and she responded that she was hired as a live in nurse. At a rehab center. My aunt informed her that this was not the case as the nurse could not be a "live in" at a rehab center. Upon leaving the rehab center that night, my aunt left my grandfather in the care of the nurse, who supposedly was well informed by her employer of his needs though her schedule was conflicted. The next day, we received a call that my grandfather had been rushed back to the ER because he had pulled his feeding tube out again overnight. The feeding tube was attached behind my grandfather which would make it more difficult for him to access it. As he was able to completely disconnect from it must have taken a considerable amount of time as he is so weak. What the **** was this nurse doing that she didn't see an elderly man that she was hired to watch 24/7 rip out a tube from his stomach, which would have taken him several minutes to do as mentioned before. We hired Visiting Angels to do one job and the staff was so incompetent they couldn't even call for help when this was happening. This leads us to believe the nurse was either asleep or not in the room, otherwise leaving him unattended. We called Harvey who had no idea which nurse he had even sent that evening and said he would "look into it" without ever calling us back. We are extremely unhappy with Visiting Angels. Visiting Angels had one job, and they failed even after being told specifically what needed to be done, who to contact for help, and that they would not be a "live in" at a rehab center. We are looking into getting a lawyer for our case. The irresponsibility of Visiting Angel's staff is appalling and thanks to them my grandfather has to undergo yet another surgery to reattach the feeding tube. I can't say one nice thing about this place. We are fuming. If I could give this a negative rating I would, Visiting Angels is not deserving of even one star. read more
