Tacoma, Wa, Gravelly Lake…read more After the manager spent time asking an abundance of questions they sent caregivers that were unqualified for the tasks in which they were sent. I cannot imagine why they would ask height and weight of the patient and then someone who could not transfer that person safely. Seeing my loved one dangling from a bed, and commode was very disturbing. One caregiver spent a considerable amount of time frisking the home under a surveillance camera and finally decided on one item, which he tucked in his shirt and went away with. We did not pursue this, it was invasive but we were troubled with something far more important, our loved one. I cannot imagine what this care person's his life was like before this job and I refuse to pass judgement, but it was very unsettling. The last caregiver they sent was a diarrhea of the mouth and had no consideration for the family, and kept showing pictures of her "show chickens" even after being asked two different times to stop. She did not respect the patient or any of the family even after being directly told of the wishes. Would I use this agency again? Never. Not enough oversight, poor staffing and many many of the caregivers had very poor oral hygiene, which is really unfair to the patient who cannot speak up or avoid the smell of halitosis and gum disease.

The nurse who also came out from time to time was wonderful. We could not have kept her home without their help. Thank you.

In our…read moreexperience, the initial interviews with the company were fantastic and reassuring - but it felt like a bait and switch. When it came to important work of following through with professional & reliable in-home caregiving and management of caregiver schedules, timeliness of medication delegations, and the critical nature and importance of reliable family communications - the company failed. Sound Options did not operate in a caring, compassionate or professional manner when working with our family during the extremely difficult time of our parents' health decline. If you are looking for well-trained, compassionate and professional in-home care as your loved one's health is declining, I do not recommend that you add to that emotional stress by working with Sound Options.

I highly recommend them! They were referred to me by the Altzheimers Association and I gladly give everyone I know their name as a reference. My care manager provided such strong and professional support, I could not have navigated the waters without her. And every care giver we had in home was extremely well trained, far better than any previous agency I used. I strongly disagree with the one other review listed on this site. I will always give them 5 stars!

My mother had overnight care and at least 10 times the workers never showed up. Family members had to come in at 11:30 pm. when their shifts started at 11 pm. The only employee I trusted was the poor overnight dispatcher who couldn't really do anything and had to profusely apologize/pass along the message in the morning because this agency A. DOESN'T HIRE CNA AND, B. DOES NOT HAVE OVERNIGHT SUPERVISORS. ONE OF THE SUPERVISOR, MONA IS TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. THE CNA THAT WORK at Family Resource HAS TO CONTRACT WITH THEM TO PAY THEM THEIR DESERVED WAGES. They hire retired CNA with no licenses or ones who barely have their licenses/lost them. Most of them have no common sense regarding ADLS or DAILY LIVING SKILLS. They don't know how to clean properly or what to do in an emergency. Our family finally told them to call 911 if they were clueless about a situation with my mother who was 94 at the time. She was a fall risk and fell several times where the supervisor did nothing about the worker, no extra training or anything then, would send the same work into the home. I finally reported the last worker to the WA DOH as she let my mother fall overnight then, lied about it. I found she was training to be a CNA and not licensed yet. Terrible place, don't waste your parents or your Long Term Care insurance there. Call PIERCE COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES FOR LONG TERM CARE FIRST!!!

I have worked in various facilities, specifically with dementia/Alzheimer's residents and despite the beauty of this building inside and out, the care is horrendous. It is the same exact care that you can get at any facility. Of all of the times I visited, there were always new staff members that had NO idea how to properly care for my grandfather. I spent hours going in to the facility only to care for my own grandfather rather than spending the time to visit with him and cherish those moments. I spent my time reminding the staff of the issues with his care and what they WEREN'T doing. He spent $10,000 a month to live there and in all honestly I could have taken better care of him myself without him spending $10,000 a month. His valuables were lost within the first year of him living there. He died with nothing on the walls of his room, staring into the ceiling with no one by his side. I am very disappointed in his care at this facility and do not recommend spending that amount of money because I can assure you that the money is NOT going towards those residents. Those residents spend their days staring at a TV all day with no one-on-one interaction. The nursing staff does not recommend PT or OT to help assist these residents to live a healthier/active lifestyle. My grandfather was put into a chair and thats where he ended up the rest of his days being there. The nursing staff lies to you and tells you that they are doing the proper care needed and I caught them in the act of lying. I had to remind them to donn his boots because he ended up with a nasty heel wound that the facility NEVER healed (still there when he passed away). He was chair/bed ridden and they couldn't even remember to donn his boots which is VERY important to avoid skin breakdown. I had to clean his mouth out and wash his face. I had to massage his legs because they would turn black/blue from being immobile and the staff wouldn't do it otherwise, even when asked. I had to ask them to reposition him in bed to avoid pressure sores and skin breakdown. I even asked them to give him a bath because he had a bad odor to him. To me, this is not good care. This facility needs to re-evaluate where all of that money is going and start doing their job. It is heartbreaking to go visit a loved one that suffers from a terrible disease only to find out the people that take care of him don't actually care about him, they care about their paycheck and when their time comes to go home. The staff was never attentive when we would visit. The CEO of the company only cares about opening more facilities across the state so he can make more money. We had several complaints throughout our time there and never once was apologized to or even considered for our feelings. I understand taking care of dementia residents is not easy, I can personally say it's one of the hardest things I've done but I have never turned a cheek on my residents and always did everything I could to care for them as a human being. The staff needs to put themselves in the residents shoes and care for them as they would like to be cared for. Karma will come around for those that look the other way. I recommend you think about the significant amount of money you will put into this company/facility and the type of care that truly happens behind closed doors. Think about how your loved one feels. This place is no different than the rest.
