When it came time to bring hospice in, the helped coordinate that service, and again, worked together with the hospice staff to provide compassionate, caring services the entire time Mom was there. The staff showed warmth and the utmost respect for both our family, and our Mother. We felt she was safe and in the best hands possible to make sure she got everything she needed. Balfour, at every turn, went above and beyond for our family member. She lived there for 2 1/2 years, spending the last year in memory care. All of the staff, top to bottom, are loving and kind. The clinical care is top notch. And at the end, the nurses became family to all of us. Balfour is a community, residents have friends and some even bring their dogs. A lot of these people don't care about the residents. These people should listen to the residents in the dining room. They have a lot to say to each other, but are too scared to say anything to the staff.

Mom moved into Atria in 2021 under their assisted living program as she was suffering from mild dementia and memory loss. When the symptoms worsened significantly she moved to the memory care area. Her entire stay at Atria was a positive experience. The building feels more residential than facility, with lots of places to spend time, whether chatting in the living room, working out the gym or reading or playing games in the library. The memory care area is smaller and more intimate but still retains the same home like quality. The staff took excellent care of her and put me at ease, knowing she was safe and loved. Yes, loved. Her caregivers treated her with respect and affection and kept me up to date on everything from her running low on shampoo to her moods to the activities they convinced her to participate in. On moving out day mom wasn't really aware of what was happening but I sure was, and I cried and cried, and hugged all our wonderful support team. A terrible situation made positive by everyone at Atria.

We chose to be placed on the waiting list because of its affordability when compared to other senior living care offerings in the community. Being that Hover is a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) it was very important to us that care could be given through any stage of life or physical need without leaving the campus. The elders I encountered in the Independent Living and Assisted Living buildings were not shy about sharing their pride and how they had individualized their living environments and it was wonderful to see them so happy. I also met several residents in the Hover Green Houses, Skilled Nursing, and so pleased to see the homes are run as an elder-in-charge community with meaningful relationships being developed and nurtured. The houses are beautiful homes and give elders the opportunity to participate in daily tasks like cooking and be involved playing games or having fun with crafts. The Hover Green House skilled nursing is so nice I want to live there! I can't recommend the Beatrice community highly enough!

Since I wrote my initial review, things have gone downhill dramatically. At one point, my niece,…read morewho is bedbound, woke up in the middle of the night to find a man standing over her bed. He was a mental patient there. My niece was/is helpless. Thankfully, a staff member noticed he was in there and made him leave. He was not a peaceful man, as it turned out, and was eventually removed from the facility, but it took some doing. Since that time, they have admitted a number of mental patients more, another of whom made her way into my niece's room. Weeks went by after my niece was admitted before they finally gave her a bath. At a MINIMUM, it is supposed to be 2 a week. That has NEVER been the case for her. Ever. Meanwhile, numerous times my niece did not receive her daily medications; was given the wrong medications, which would have had dire consequences had she not realized they were the wrong ones; and was skipped for meals (she is thin - so not a diet thing). I don't know what's happening there, but they are grossly understaffed, and the increased number of mental patients is disconcerting, to put it mildly. Something needs to change and fast.
