The lack of compassion when Dr. Cade told me my father would be alive for another month, but I knew it would be days. After the hell we had been through with them at the facility, we still chose to keep their services and brought my father home. That was when the only staff that came to help was after hours nurses. Our assigned staff was of NO help at all. He passed in 3 days of being sent home from the facility. I have names of the staff I appreciate, Liz, Justin, Brandy, and Tara. There are numerous staff I did not like that I will not name, but have to mention that I was told to separate fact from emotion in a situation so emotional to begin with was completely wrong. My father while not completely coherent was not receiving medication as prescribed, he had a party at 2:30 am w/visitors impersonated his daughters and granddaughter. I can go on and on! This company is terrible to have to deal with. Please re-consider.

My nurse should have been here yesterday but never showed up! I can't go to the hospital to get out pain because they said I have to call them and they won't help me. They never submitted the papers for a care nurse. And my friend hasn't had a bath for 2 weeks because there's no body there to help him! It took a month to get a bed delivered, and nobody has ever considered getting him a walker. And icing on the cake they have done nothing to find him an impatient or long term facility. But why would you, if he were to go into a long term care facility you wouldn't get paid. I think it's shameful that you allow people to die alone and in pain. Additionally the case worker, didn't fill out the correct paperwork for his insurance. So at the last minute there's a jump through hoops to get the paperwork in last minute. I would never recommend this facility to someone I hated let alone someone I loved. Find a facility that cares and ensures your loved ones are cared for. Not this place.

When our nurse(Victoria) called in sick the agency did not find an on call nurse. They also did not call me, so I had to call them and hold for 15 minutes. When the Nurse's aide did not show up, they had no idea and offered to reschedule. I had to explain to 4 different people why that would not work. The next week, the aide did not come out because she was not advised by management. She cam the next day because management did not originally put her on the schedule. The next week the nurse's aide was not aware she was now handling my wife's services and did not show. You only get to say "I'm sorry" so many times. I terminated the service. Their job is to make an end of life transition easier and less stress filled. In my case, they only added to the problem.

He had been…read moreagitated out of normal character and had some falls and I was trying to get hospice to check him for a UTI. I was unsuccessful in my attempts. A hospice nurse came out to see him because of the agitation. I was having a wonderful conversation with him, but she took the phone away and insisted on giving him morphine which should never be given for agitation. He told me and the nurse he was not in pain. I tried to explain that the two times previously they had given him morphine it caused him to not be able to swallow and have any intake. Dad had just taken himself to the dining room that night and I didn't want him to not be able to eat the next day. I also pleaded that I did not want her to drug him into an unresponsive state. She promised me she would check on him the next morning. I live ten hours from the facility and was confined by an ice storm. The next morning, I called the facility and dad was unresponsive. Hospice had not told me they had put in a continuing order for the morphine which was against instructions I had given. I tried calling hospice all day and the times I reached them; I was assured the morphine would be discontinued. No one checked on him until 24 hours later. I begged them to make sure he was receiving water and food. The next afternoon I was told by an aide at the assisted living facility that she was so sorry, but hospice had not given the order to discontinue the morphine until late that afternoon. No one from Bristol Hospice visited him that day. The next morning he had been without food or water for almost 3 days and the hospice nurse called me to say she thought he was actively dying and she wanted to increase his morphine. She got very aggressive with me when I explained that the morphine caused him to not be able to swallow. She refused to give him water because of that. I was able to drive the ten hours to see him, but by the time I got there it was too late. Be aware that a for-profit hospice runs on a cost/benefit analysis and when Dad started falling and they had to visit him more often he was costing Bristol Hospice more per day than Medicare was paying them. I was able to spend the last few hours with dad and had no support from the hospice team during those hours. My last conversation with him had been interrupted by a nurse from Bristol Hospice who needed to give her drugs and get home. Beware of for-profit hospice companies!

They have been of service while she was at Libby Bortz Assisted Living (awesome facility) and now as the Manor on Marston (another awesome facility). Dealing with end of life isn't easy and emotions run high. Moving loved ones into and out of assisted facilities is stressful on everyone. Managing everyone's expectations isn't easy. The staff from Agape has done and continues to do an outstanding job balancing all these things. Yes, things go a bit wrong, someone may forget something etc, but it's how you handle and correct the mis steps that speaks to your true intent and here, Agape, is excellent. They have been honest if they miss something and they appropriately and mindfully push back when needed to the family when in the best interest of the patient. The staff from nursing, personal care, PT, volunteers, Chaplin's, visiting animals, etc have been amazing. My mom has nothing but praise for each. She looks forward to each of their visits as they are way more than just medical visits. Please keep in mind the difficult situation when thinking about an evaluation. When I place myself in their shoes or my moms, they are an outstanding, dedicated team of caregivers who truly care. What more can as for?
