I'm surprised to be writing the first review for this company/location…read more We contracted Home Instead for 24/7 in home care & assistance for my father post-surgery. He had spent 2 weeks in the hospital, post-op and was suffering from Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction that presented as dementia, delusion and delirium. A family member or close family friend was in the home at all times, so the the Home Instead care givers were there to assist, and for over-night sitting. My father was a challenge to deal with at times. Other times he was sedate, sleeping for much of the day/night due to the medications he was prescribed. Our experience with Home Instead was mixed. Some of the care givers we were sent were exceptional, caring people who did an excellent job. Others, despite being very clear about our needs with H.I. management, were not suited to be caring for my father. He was a large (5' 10", 235 lb) man. And although strong, he needed assistance standing and walking...thus we specifically requested staff that were physically capable of handling him. Also, we requested as much consistency of staff as possible (e.g. same personnel each day), but H.I. was only partially able to meet this need. We also requested a weekly calendar showing dates, times and staff we could expect. This wasn't provided without follow-up requests and was typically inaccurate because staff had to be substituted as the week progress. Lastly, we were over billed. We were billed at an accurate rate, but we were billed for hours that were not worked. If you use this service, I encourage you to keep accurate records of hours, so that you can audit their billing. H.I. does not provide itemized billing statements.
