Y'all please never use Visionworks. First of all I tried them out because they took our new insurance, this was in MARCH of this year. They have a woman named Jesse (this is at the location at 101 Saloom Farm Rd ate 104 Lafayette, LA 70508.) who works there who is the most fouls human being I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in customer service. I bartended for TEN YEARS so that should be saying something. This place overcharged me $60 for my initial exam which was COVERED by insurance and only was supposed to be $10. I paid it anyway. I found my contacts at the place I usually go to and have for about 14 years for $34 with my insurance being out of network (todays eye care is the BEST). Vision works wants over $200 for the exact same contacts. I asked them to send the prescription to them they said no problem. Then sent an unsigned prescription. Repeatedly. When I called and told them it needed to be signed I was told I'd have to wait TWO WEEKS until the same doctor who did my exam could come in and sign it, and then they would fax it. This never happened. 5 calls to them later hearing about how I'd have to wait I ask why they can't just send the signed copy from my chart. She tells me they have to shred everything. A blatant lie. I tell her if it's not signed and faxed (this was 2 weeks ago) I would be reporting them to my insurance company. Well, this morning I called todays eye are once again to see If Visionworks sent over my prescription. They had not. So I call and ask to speak with the office manager and I get, once again, Jesse. Who is the person who answered the phone and stated to me "that's me I guess," I tell her what's going on and she starts yelling at me saying she got the verification (the one that she had to shred and isn't in my chart) after having another doctor who isn't the doctor who did my exam that I was initially told by her HAD to sign the prescription, telling me she wouldn't do it and I could come pick it up. I said I have kids I can't just go wherever. (I'm also in a full knee immobilizer at this current moment but she doesn't need to know that). This woman LAUGHS AT ME (not the first time she's done this) and says "I have SIX kids. you can come pick it up." I said "okay, so here's what's going to happen, I'm going to give you their fax number so you can make sure you're sending it to the right place," she cuts me off and is full blown YELLING at me telling me I need to "calm down." I said I am calm my voice has never changed level, she's still yelling so I continue to maintain my voice because unlike her I am a rational human being, and I tell her just so she's aware I'm recording the conversation. She starts yelling in typical Karen fashion that "just so you know it's illegal to record someone without consent," I said "actually the state of Louisiana is a one party consent state, so I don't need your permission." She goes dead silent then says "OKAY SO WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?" I said, "so once again I'm going to give you their fax number, so we can make sure you have the right number and then you can fax it over." And then after she said "ok" I hung up. I then called Todays eye care who's having their manager call and deal with them after I told them the story and the lies they've told me about not saving my signed script or having an electronic signature. I will NEVER go to Visionworks. I will tell anyone who talks to me about contacts and glasses (which is a lot of people) that they are terrible. I hate how they treated me so much I'm going to take the time out to not only leave reviews on Facebook, but yelp, google. I'm going to file a formal complaint with my vision insurance against them. I'm going to file a complaint with the optometry board. And I'm going to file a complaint with corporate. This is the WORST place I've ever had to deal with ever in my life for contacts and glasses and I'm legally blind without my contacts or glasses and have been in prescription lenses since I was FIVE and I have NEVER been treated so terribly by an optometry office before. -infinity/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. And if y'all can think of anyone else to report them to please let me know because it's NOVEMBER and I still don't have my signed contact lens script from them when I had my exam in MARCH. #firejesse read more

I find myself gravitating to this location every time I need glasses. Their scheduling platform is so simple and I think it's safe to say you can have an appointment by the next week at the latest. The customer service here has always been....well...the best it COULD be. Other than a couple of people I've seen there long term, they seem to go through quite a bit of new employees which can unfortunately slow things down in addition to their quite old and slow computers. Other than that, they are always very cordial and attentive. I do also wish the glasses were a little more organized last time I went. I suppose every store does it differently and while the brands were mostly grouped together, the expensive brands and cheaper brands weren't really organized in an efficient way (cheapest to priciest for example) which kind of made my search for frames a bit frazzled. I can understand some of the gripes of the 1 star reviews....last year it took me an hour just to pick up an order...one of the employees seemed quite lost. It was super busy and packed that day. My most recent visit was only me at the appointment and only me for pickup so everything was quick. Overall I'd say Eyewear Express is the better store if it accepts your insurance (doesn't take mine, boo)...but this store gets the job done too. read more

the Lafayette location is a joke. you cant get anyone on the phone. My daughter had a terrible experience. Didnt even see the doctor. Never again will I visit this place. There were two ladies working there and a few people were waiting, thus the customer service was terrible and the ladies weren't too thrilled. One woman was from the Lake Charles area, or she had to Back to that store because they were short handed. None of your customers should know that. The other woman was forced to depart and go to lunch. Simply saying, it was a bad experience. She was upset that she had to call my insurance but she rushed me out. She made it seem like I didn't have the proper insurance, so I wasn't confident enough to even consider looking for glasses. Even though I called corporate, I never received a call back so it's a straight no for me. My experience was better when I visited the Slidell location. The three ladies were very kind to me and helpful and put me right on the schedule. They all took their time with me. They provided top-notch customer service!! They absolutely deserve a raise or even a bonus. Even the doctor was very kind and kind; they truly made my birthday wonderful. We salute Mrs. Lily L and the other two women! Wow these people... I had an appointment scheduled for today. I have a confirmation email with the date time and address. The rude woman that was working told me I "wasn't in the system and to go home and make another appointment". She wouldn't even bother to get up and look at my confirmation and didnt offer an apology. Will never use them again read more

Vision Works was very unorganized. 1) after each Dr. visit, you have to wait for an available associate to pay or order contacts. 2) doctor didn't find the scarring of my retina in the images from the retinal scan, until I repeatedly brought up the issue. 3) It took multiple people to find my trial pair of contacts. 4) my custom order contact lenses (toric XR) can take 4 weeks to arrive after finalizing my script, yet I couldn't leave with a 2nd trial pair (they had a pair) after my script was finalized (current trial pair was due out). I couldn't see the Dr. When picking up the first trial pair. 5) Manager just wanted to know if I wanted my script or wanted to order contact Lenses, without care that I am going up to 4 weeks or more without lenses. read more

my insurance provider uses Visionworks for eye care. the Lafayette store has consistently and reliably provided the absolute worst service. every opportunity where a mistake could be made, they made one. they broke two pairs of my personal frames. they lost my order twice. they could not find my insurance provider without considerable handholding. they misspelled my name. they made me wait very long times for in person service as well as to receive my (broken) glasses, which I then sent off to have repaired by another source. just abyssal service. I will never use this franchise again. read more

This is definitely the place to go if you want to wait 3+ hours. The optician was very nice and knowledgeable, but they are understaffed if you want to purchase anything. I am standing here looking at 5 people that have been waiting almost an hour already. We have been here two hours and are about to walk out to order glasses from somewhere that has it together. read more
