Ill mannered manager we were lied to that we could not collect little one's glasses on Sunday the 2nd Jan 2025 due to short staffing and to wait 1-2 hours. On Monday she yells at me for not knowing that kids glasses cannot be collected on Sundays. Yells at me in front of my child about this when I said you said no such thing before or explained on the phone re kids glasses collection. She continuously keep saying to front desk staff to get rid of me and my child by increasing the approximate waiting time (like we are that stupid right!). Despite this we continue to wait and she walks over casually and telling new rules of glasses collection which she clearly made up at that instance. What the hell, urrgh, to make matters worse I found out she is the branch manager (Sam Brooks) Run away , as far and far away as you can. read more

This branch of Vision Express is a rather small branch, and is located on Market Way in the Exchange Shopping centre in Rochdale town centre, being a customer of Vision Express for over 18 months now where I have had numerous pairs of glasses, mainly visiting the Manchester Arndale store as well as calling in various other branches such as Bury, Oldham, Manchester Trafford and Leeds, I have become more knowledgeable and used to what I should expect from a Vision Express branch, which is why I feel this branch was really dissapointing. The branch its-self here was really small, and the selection of glasses here was poor, and it was barely average in-fact, which was a shame. The overall layout of the store seemed slightly old, inside it even felt older than the Manchester Arndale branch which was recently closed and replaced by a branch across the way, which shows why a refurb of this branch to be able to compete with other more modern branches would be well suited to this branch, yet perhaps could be difficult due to space. The staff around the store were average at best, they didn't seem too friendly. As well as mentioning the branch being small and not as modern as other branches, the overall feel also wasn't great which is a shame too, and due to the reasons discussed I feel this is probably an opticians to avoid unless you're in the area and in dire need of an eye-test or glasses repair, if not perhaps another opticians or a different branch of Vision Express would be better suited to your needs, so sadly I feel Vision Express at Rochdale's Exchange deserves a single one-star rating. read more

I've used Vision Express in Rochdale for the last 15 years, have always found it to be of a suitable size and never had to use my elbows to get into the store, even though I'm a larger version of Father Christmas myself. Now to some size obviously matters, but trust me, you can walk in upright and have never bounced off the walls. I've never not found a pair of glasses that I didn't like, it would take me 2-3 days to look at the selection available with critical eyes and if you're rather fickle and don't like the available up to date glasses, then there are literally hundreds of older versions in the pull out drawers under the walls. So I'm sure you can find something that suits your taste. I'm not one to really notice the decor, not because I'm short sighted, but because it really truly doesn't bother me, unless there was sawdust on the floors and spittoons in the corner! But the store seems comfortable for my needs and appears to be able to cater 2-3 customers at anyone time. I've always found that if you go into a store with a smile on your face, you get one back! The staff have always been brilliant to me, but then I've always been respectful and friendly towards them. I don't know if this is a trick, but it works for me, they must see so many miserable bu**ers, they must have off days too, as last time I checked they were human and not robots. But I can honestly say, I've never had one that wasn't professional towards me and didn't come across in an over friendly manner, that really grates on me, that kind of false persona. The store seems to have all the upto date equipment for eye checks and every 5 years I get my D4 medical done. I do stagger out of there nowadays, not through intoxication, but through sheer shock of how much I spend on the glasses, knowing the true value of what I could get Oakley frames for on the black market, but again VE comes out on top with easi-payments. So if you're more concerned with the health of your eyes, rather than the look of a store, I couldn't recommend Vision Express in Rochdale enough. Just remember, enter with a smile!
