I would not recommend this office for several reasons. I have two family members that visit this office as well as myself. I always accompany my family members, as they are elderly. So, I am in the office a fair amount.
Here is why I don't recommend:
One, they herd you around like cattle. You're never going to see the same people when you go in. Their employee retention rate must be abysmal. It would be nice to see the same office worker, eye examiner, etc. even once, but that never happens and it's just plain weird. There has to be a reason they can't keep employees.
Two, during my first visit, I met with Dr. Wenger. This was in 2021. I had previously been a long term client of another doctor, but they retired. So, I tried out Dr. Wenger. I have a fairly rare, though not serious, issue with one of my eyes. As a test to see if this new doctor would be a good fit, I didn't mention this issue during my appointment. I knew if she didn't notice my eye issue, that would tell me she is not a thorough doctor and I should move on to someone else. Spoiler: she did not notice. (To be clear, this is not a difficult issue to notice, it's just something that must be actually looked at to notice, which she did not do.) Dr. Wenger walked in the room full of diva attitude as if she was god's gift and I was lucky to be in her presence. She did not want to be there and acted as if I was a huge bother. She spent only a couple of minutes with me and left, having barely glanced at my eyes. The diva behavior was quite humorous because, let's be real, she's an optometrist in Jonesboro, Arkansas--that's hardly a diva-worthy achievement.
After that visit, I obviously went to another provider. Why my two family members continue to go, I do not know. (By the way, after that visit, I received a survey where I mentioned all of this. No one ever followed up. They simply did not care.)
That brings us to today.
I had a client in my office for an appointment that was to begin at 4pm. As I was walking into to my office at 3:56pm, I received a call from Vision Care Center. It was a 972 pre-fix so I actually thought it was another provider's office or I wouldn't have even answered. But I did answer. I was told I am overdue for my eye exam and asked if I would like to schedule. I said, "I'm actually here at work with a client in front of me getting ready for our appointment so I'll have to get back to you later." The caller responded, "Well, we haven't seen you since 2021." Again, I said, "I'm sorry, but I have a client sitting in front of me and this is not a good time." Instead of simply respecting that I was at my job and had already told her TWICE this was not a good time, she continued to push, "Well would you like to..." I interrupted her and said, "What I would like is for you to remove my name from your records and never contact me again." I then disconnected the call.
Is it just me or is it wildly inappropriate to continue your sales/appointment pitch when you have very clearly been told the person you're calling is busy at work, has a client in front of them and this is not a good time? What is wrong with you? The blatant lack of professionalism and respect is, sadly, exactly what I have come to expect from Vision Care Center. There are many offices in the area with professional, kind, competent provider's. This is not one of them. I strongly urge you to avoid this office at all costs.
By the way, if there are any claims that this is not how the call occurred, I can provide proof. All calls in and out of my office are recorded and stored for 21 days. read more
