Speedway Highschool was one of the sites hosting the first games for the Marion County Freshman…read moreTourney for 2022-2023. The school is easy to find and has ample amount of parking. Doors are labeled and easily visible. Cash only for admission, 6$ a person for entrance. I was told I had to walk upstairs to get into the main gym where the game was being played. I liked that I was able to walk down to the bleachers on the main floor for better viewing. I noticed that concessions were still being set up at that time. The game was early, at 9am, so I brought my coffee from home and I was able to bring it in with me so I opted out on concessions. Overall, the gym looks taken care of and it's decent size.

If i could give this school zero stars, I absolutely would. Coming from a students perspective,…read morethis school deprives students of a happy and healthy education. A high school experience should be fun and exciting. The work overload and constant pressure to succeed makes even waking up for school feel impossible. The assistant principal, Mr Day, constantly bullies and picks on students and targets them for absolutely no reason. Never would i have ever thought I would wake up and be crying most mornings because of the dread of just walking into the school. Us students constantly feel watched over for every little thing we do and we should absolutely not be feeling this way as kids. Please do your children a huge favor and never bring them here. Mr day has, on multiple occasions, illegally terrorized students causing three lawsuits against the school. I am so disappointed that my high school experience has been ruined by attending here. This does not feel like a public school, more like an extremely strict private school (or jail). I am so glad to finally be graduating and moving on to a school that will not leave me feeling this way.

Facilities are nice, but old and not incredibly well. Taken care of for a high school this size…read more Construction out in the front not sure what's going on. There caused some parking issues. Signage is decent getting into the place. I know that they're academics are not strong here, and they usually place near the bottom of the metropolitan area. Their music programs have been strong in the past and seemed to be on the build again. Sporting teams are hot and cold. The building is large and spread out lots of really nice things and lots of things that just haven't been kept up.

I like the fact there are a couple ways to enter into the Ben Davis HS area…read more This review is based on the outside facilities sports area and Area 31. They have a very nice stadium. The stadium is used for football and for track. They also offer softball, baseball, soccer and powderpuff. The fields are kept nice, and there is benches to sit on at the softball and baseball field. The best part is they have an Area 31 Center where even students can come in from other districts to be certified in culinary, aesthetician, criminal law, pharmacy tech... There is so much offered at the school, and the grounds are kept up. This is a great place to come and walk, as there is even a little area that has some really large trees and shade around the baseball field. There is also a very large area that completely encompasses the entire campus. This is great for long walks. (without dogs attacking you)

Well I figured I should give my alma mater some love. I attended BCHC from 1996-2000, My experience…read morethere was very unique. My freshman year I was immediately drawn to the internally produced TV show. I got in and was mentored by a junior at the time who was a part of the original tv crew (it had just started a year or two before me). I soon took over co-producing the show and after my mentor left I was the producer and editor of the show. I also ran all of the AV for the liturgies, pep rallies and DJ'd most of the dances with my two best friends. Why am I telling you this? By the time I was a Junior I had a job working for Markey's AV. I started my career in Technology when I was 15 because the opportunities at Chatard. My story is unique for sure but the staff at Chatard supported me and helped me grow as a young man. On other notes not related to my career. I was and am not Catholic. Even though it is required to take a religion class every year I was not pressured in any way to take on their beliefs. I treated it as a history class. What was so amazing was that the Senior religion class was world religions. I always thought this was such an amazing things for them to do. And if you were a student there from the late 70's to the mid 2000's you had Mr. Powell as your teacher. I bet there are 1,000's of adults that when asked who is the one teacher that left a mark on you would say Mr. Powell. He was definitely mine. * The main reason my parents chose Chatard was their English program for kids with learning disabilities. I was diagnosed with ADD at a young age in the 80's. This program and the absolutely amazing teachers supported learning techniques for students with these issues. We were in our own small 6 student classroom for 2 periods of the day instead of being in the general English class. After 2 years of this program I was able to return back to the regular class. I will never forget how much that helped me in my learning through my entire life. Over the years I came back and volunteered time teaching students in the TV show program, photography in art class. I have donated art for the auctions and more. Why because I love this school. I could go on and on for ever about my experiences here. I will always be a Trojan!! And if any staff read this, I am always willing and able to volunteer. I have spent the past 22 years in the advanced technologies and engineering, photography and videography.

Awesome school would recommend to others. Made lots of…read morefriends such as Ethan R. School lunch fye!
