I've been looking for a shop since moving to Texas and now I've found the place! Very cool, clean tattoo shop. Everyone is friendly; they don't have the I'm better than you attitude that I have gotten from more than one shop. They listen to what you want and work with you on achieving the best possible tat. They never turn customers away and schedule appointments within a reasonable time frame. My husband and I both just got tattoos from Scrappy. He is very light handed and did an awesome job. They are also hosting (and hope to host more) a Teen Camp to educate youth on what it means and how to become an artist. I thought this was a great idea! read more

Walk-ins are more welcome here than having a consultation and appointment. Don't have a consult the week before with Kemp and then a week later for the tat session, slightly change your idea. The 'Walk-Ins Welcome' sign on their front door doesn't seem to be true. If I walked in that first day and he could have fit me in, I would have showed him what I wanted and that would be that. Because I had a week to think about this big decision on my first tattoo, I found a simpler design that meant more to me and showed that to him when I arrived for my appointment. Lonnnnng story but, I apparently offended him by changing my idea, slightly. Just know what you want in a consultation and don't change it up or you'll deal with an obviously annoyed tattoo artist. I should have taken my business elsewhere once I picked up on his passive aggressiveness, but I didn't. My low self esteem is a beeeotch so I failed to do what my gut was telling me. I went there with my sister and didn't want to embarrass her either so, I dealt with the situation the only way I could. That initial consult was for ME to decide if I wanted Kemp to do the work, not for him to have my final decision of my tat idea. A walk in would have been treated better. I could have gone anywhere but chose Kemp because he was nice on that consult day. Not so much on the tattoo session day. He said comments and his body language screamed he was obviously annoyed with me. But, like I said, low self esteem is a butt hole and not wanting to embarrass my sister is why i didn't but should have gone elsewhere. I won't go back there, he made my 'virgin tat' experience awkward and upsetting. read more

As a first timer, coming to VTK was the best choice I made. Everything is so clean and it looks great inside; hip hop memorabilia, awesome art work (some even for sale!), and great music. Tattoo is decent, not really what I asked for detail wise. My main issue lies in the fact I wasn't told my $20 deposit wouldn't go toward my total cost, only to save myself a 10 minute appointment. He is so down to earth and makes you feel comfortable. While he was tattooing me we talked so much about anything and everything. He is very talented. I went here to get my second tattoo which is a small silhouette of an airplane on my forearm. It took double the amount that of time it should have and was extremely overworked and in the tail, the color went outside of the lines. After I was finished they wouldn't wrap it for "sanitary reasons" and it continued to bleed down my arm quite a lot my whole drive home. While healing it became one huge scab and kept breaking open any time I moved my arm causing it to bleed and it started to look infected because it kept opening the wound. I cared for it exactly like I was told. Since it repeatedly tore the scab the ink didn't take in almost half of the whole tattoo. I hate people seeing it and what was supposed to be a meaningful tattoo became something I'm ashamed of. I will never step foot in the shop again and am having to go somewhere else to get it fixed. read more
