This was one of the most horrific and uncomfortable experiences I've ever had at a spa. What I…read moreexpected to be a relaxing massage turned into something completely unexpected and disturbing. While I was lying on the table, the masseuse suddenly climbed up onto the board and began walking across my body while holding onto the ceiling for balance. She applied pressure using her feet while pushing upward against the ceiling. When she reached the center of my back, she actually jumped on my back three separate times. It didn't stop there. When she moved toward my arm, her bare foot went directly into my hand. At that moment I was extremely uncomfortable and just wanted the entire experience to be over. The next morning I woke up with my back covered in bruises. A massage should never leave someone feeling injured and shaken like this. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe or relaxing spa experience.

After giving birth to my daughter, I experienced aches and strains from weight gain during…read morepregnancy then constantly picking up a growing baby. When I told a friend, she raved about her experience with Blakey at North Star Holistic Health. I emailed the practice and received a quick response with available dates. Unsure of which service to select, I explained my situation and she recommended the Empowered Realignment, as this incorporates subtle bodywork such as polarity and cranial sacral therapy. I arrived early for my appointment which gave us time to discuss the locations of discomfort, diet/exercise regime, current emotional state and massage preferences. Based on my current issues, she combined traditional massage (shiatsu?,) myofascial release and energy healing. During the treatment, she checked in with me to ensure the pressure was comfortable and adjusted when I felt pain. Soft music played in the background, a specifically selected essential oil blend was diffused and at some point I was so relaxed I fell asleep. She gently woke me up to let me know the massage had ended. We sat down afterwards to talk through thoughts that arose during the energy work portion, had a glass of water and she suggested a few things I could do to improve my back/emotional state. I left with a roller of the essential oil that was selected for my session. It's rare to find a Massage Therapist who combines aromatherapy, massage and Reiki into one holistic treatment. I really enjoyed the entire experience and look forward to my next appointment! Side note: Blakey currently massages out of her home. You can park in the driveway and she has a small dog who was very well behaved during our appointment.
