I woke up today with bruises on my back! The young lady who was maybe 5 feet tall with dyed red…read morehair was so unprofessional. She was on the phone during the massage and was almost yelling. The conversation must have been stressful because she was rubbing my back as hard as imaginable and in a very fast aggressive nature. I told her that this wasn't good and she said sorry and stopped talking on the phone. the massage quality did not improve though. Despite me saying "too hard" she continued to dig her knuckles into my back and rub up and down on my spine. I paid for an hour and lasted MAYBE 30 minutes before I waved my hands and said no more. She didn't speak a lick of English so I have no idea what she was saying but it sounded like she was pleasing with me to stay. I said no and got dressed. She didn't offer me a partial refund, a water, a mint, nothing. She said "sorry" and that was that. I woke up this morning with actual bruises on my back and in worse pain than I was in before the massage.

I had been on a plateau for over 1 month with no improvement. So I thought I'd try massage. I have used massage from time to time over the years for general relaxation but never for symptom relief. Sharon's facility is small but very clean. She is very knowledgeable about massage techniques & very communicative. I was very comfortable. Several hours after leaving I noticed a definite improvement in symptoms. I already made an appointment for another session. Her appointment system is electronic with email & text reminders if you want. Sharon is very recommended!

Heavens Day Spa is in a small shopping strip and apparently there is a parking lot behind. I parked on the street. The salon is pretty small and definitely not elegant. But I never judge that at first, because many small places provide great service for a fraction of the price compared to big, elegant salons. The room I was in, did not have a door, but a curtain. A woman escorted me into the room and told me to undress. I assumed she was the masseuse. I was wrong. Shortly after, a man walked in, no introduction, and started the massage. He seemed somewhat distracted, leaving the room multiple times. Also, the other woman entered the room multiple times to speak to the man. The music stopped and was not out back on for about half an hour. I had a hard time relaxing, based on the lack of music, street noise, man leaving the room, woman entering the room, and other guests coming in loudly. I am not sure if I will try them again, but if so, I will go during a weekday, when maybe it's quieter and staff is more attentive. The massage itself was decent, but relaxation is supposed to be part of the experience.

I had an excellent 75 minute "luxury body massage" at Tao Spa in Glenside today with Helen. When…read morethey first opened years ago, I had a massage that I did not care for as much by a very young and somewhat timid therapist, but I am glad I tried again. Helen has incredibly strong hands yet is sensitive to notice when the pressure is too intense. It was mostly a deep tissue massage with some Swedish style in areas that I requested less pressure due to injury. Helen used hot stones and suggested an upgrade to cupping on my back, which I agreed to for the $25 fee. (Be warned: it will leave you with large spots on your back for about a week as if you tangled with an octopus, but it really does help loosen up back muscles.) You can book and pay online, and they appear to be open daily. I will be returning.

There was no communication whatsoever beforehand about pressure, avoiding certain areas, etc. The entire massage was extremely painful (which is saying something because I usually love a lot of pressure). There was not one minute I was relaxed as the lady was very aggressively rubbing my back and digging into the same spot over and over again. It felt like she was taking her anger out on me or something. I left upset that I even paid for a service like that even though it was cheap. (I should've taken that as a warning sign) A few hours later, I am left with horrible back pain and sore in places I never even knew I could be sore. Not to mention that the massage ended with her knocking her knuckles on my head then suddenly an alarm buzzing to which she said "Finish" then ran out the room. It felt like I was in the twilight zone. I will never return
