Upon arrival there was a rude assistant with Spanish accent that tried to help us but took way too long. We were told that our appointment was with a MD, but when we got there we were told that a PA would be seeing us. I'm not even sure if it is legal, but two patients were put in the same room for examination by that same assistant and asked as question about our health AT THE SAME TIME. They gave us a strep test and a flu test. The strep test was done by the the rude assistant at the same time, I am not even sure which test was for which patient, the flu test was done by a different assistant. She came in the room while both of us were sitting and without explaining or anything she just shoved the long q tip in my nostril, it was extremely uncomfortable. I wish she would have told me so I could at least mentally prepare myself. These assistants were savages. Then we came up front to pay and the same assistant was arguing with some lady behind the computer about something was not being her job in front of all the patients. The whole vibe was negative. The place didn't look so clean and the front desk is super messy. Second week of January 2020 I go back to this place. I call during normal business hours but no one picks up, I called again still no one picked up. The third time I called and someone picked up only to put me on a 10 minute hold. I wish they took my number and called me back or asked me to call them in 10 minutes. The person who picked up said "can I put you on hold", before I responded I was put on hold. I made an appointment and upon arriving I didn't see the previous assistant up front and was being see by a MD. Front desk was still messy but had a couple of girls that seemed like they were working really hard. I asked them to send my medication across the street to Walgreens. I was seen by the doctor who seemed to be in a hurry throughout the whole time. I felt like I was being rushed out of that office. She prescribed me two different medications. Finally I got out of there and went to pick up my medication at Walgreens. The pharmacist informed me that there was only one medication sent over to them by this doctor. I called Dr. Kanika's office but it seemed like the office was closed. The next day I called at regular hours but no one picked up. I got a notification from Walmart pharmacy. I am not sure why they would send my medication to TWO DIFFERENT pharmacies. I had to go all the way to Dulles to pick up my medication from Walmart pharmacy, after I clearly mentioned to them that I wanted my medication sent to Walgreen across the street. All of this could have been avoided if the doctor paid close attention to the notes and details of her patient and if they are in a hurry to leave the office, they shouldn't schedule their last patient at 4:30.

I am the CEO of a multinational corporation and the Head of Human Resources at a Federal Agency. I had scheduled my daughter's clinic appointment on June 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm. I was unable to arrive on time because of an unforeseen meeting and traffic due to inclement weather. I notified the clinic over the phone that I could be running a few minutes behind schedule. The clinic employee rudely stated over the phone that we could only wait till 2:15 p.m. My husband, daughter and I arrived at the clinic at 2:17 p.m to an empty waiting area. As soon as I walked in, the extremely cold and rude receptionist began to nod her head in an impolite and disrespectful manner. When I provided my name she instantly stated we couldn't take you right now because you arrived at 2:17 instead of 2:15 and we would charge you $100 instead. It was extremely unpleasant and intimidating. We don't go to the clinics to experience such rudeness and humiliation. Rather, we anticipate that clinics will facilitate, assist and treat patients with respect and dignity. Given the nature of their work with infants and young children, pediatric clinics in particular need to be even more kind, flexible and accommodating. Unless you are a full-time homemaker and follow your doctor's schedule exclusively, there are many reasons to reschedule a medical appointment due to unanticipated business situations, inclement weather etc. therefore charging a late fee or rescheduling fee makes no sense to the regular patients. Every time we make an appointment with this clinic, I've also noticed that they start distressing patients by warning them that they will be charged $100 if they are late. Many individuals live pay to pay check. This conduct may cause anxiety and anguish. The clinic seems to be more concerned about making $100 than the well being of the patients. How can we entrust our offspring to a facility that is solely interested in making money? In addition to updating its certain policies, the clinic must invest in staff training. I've made the decision to switch clinics after encountering extremely antagonistic conduct.

The system asked me to fill out all of my information, including my insurance and credit card details, which I completed through the portal. I joined the virtual waiting room and waited about 20 minutes, but I had to step away, so I canceled and made another appointment for 2:30 PM. I joined the waiting room again and waited until 2:46 PM, then called the office to ask how much longer it would be. At that point, the receptionist asked me to verify my insurance and said they could not see it, even though I had already submitted it through the portal. That was very frustrating. Then they said they could not find my file at all. My issue is not even about paying out of pocket. I had already provided my card information and was willing to pay if needed. The problem was the poor communication and disorganized process. If there was an issue with my insurance or file, someone should have contacted me instead of leaving me sitting in the virtual waiting room with no update. This whole experience was ridiculous and added more stress when I was already not feeling well.

I was recommended to come see Dr. Thathagari at the NOVA Medical Services Center from a co-worker of mine who too can relate to my nonsense hypochondriac concerns. I thought I had meningitis (turns out it was more or less just a bad headache) but Dr. Thathagari answered my countless questions and concerns with a high level of professionalism but also with a slight sense of good natured humour. One thing that is comforting is if you call the office after hours if you have a question or suddenly get sick, Dr. Thathagari always checks the office voicemail and sometimes calls are forwarded to her cell phone. That is SERVICE if I've ever seen it!! I've never had a doctor do that before. So awesome. It's nice to know that doctors have that much concern for their patients. As for finding appointments-- I was able to get a weekend appointment with no problem at all. Their hours are pretty flexible and the office is open, at the latest, around 6 pm on weekdays. So if need be, you can schedule an appointment and not have to take time off from work-- a win-win situation. One thing to be wary about is that this doctor's office is shared with a pediatrician's office-- I rolled up to the office and I got some odd looks-- people must've thought I was lost!
