I was referred to Virginia Heart this spring by my primary care physician. Dr. Raymond Vlacancich had previously treated a family member of mine, so I went to him based on my relative's positive experience. I could not be happier with Dr. V. and Virginia Heart. Dr. V. Is friendly, caring, and thorough in answering any questions that arise. He outlined a plan of care that identified the issue, which fortunately is not a concern. Dr Bhagat is awful with patients. She expressed no urgency when our insurance denied the test my husband needed two years ago so he suffered and we were scared until we pushed her to meet with the other 4 doctors we'd gone to because the issue obviously wasn't his heart. She didn't make any diagnosis. She kept sending us to other doctors. Finally we went to the ER where he received emergency surgery and a stent. For whatever reason Dr Bhagat decided my husband needed to die rather than receive follow up care after getting a stent. She didn't even check to see if he had a prescription for the essential medicine that helps you not reject the stent. She was way too lackadaisical and flippant to do critical care. read more

I went to the Reston office: Had another bad experience with Virginia Heart. I called and scheduled what I believed to be an annual/preventive checkup, which with my insurance is no charge to me. They billed me for an office visit, and it cost me $300ish. I spoke to my insurance company, and they said they can bill it as a preventive, and it would have been no charge. However, after my insurance company spoke with Virginia Heart, the practice wasn't willing to bill it as a preventive. I believe they don't receive as much money for a preventive as they do for an office visit. Go to this practice at your own financial peril. My medicine prescription ran out and I was told I have to come in the office and pay for an office visit before they would refill it. At the end of my appointment last year, I wanted to set an appointment for this year, and they said they can't schedule out that far and they would be in touch, they never were in touch. This is a very basic medicine, and they would have my lab work from my GP that they base this medicine on. This medicine is only based on my lab work, it isn't based on any EKG or talking to the doctor for fifteen minutes, who by the way I don't know his name because they switch them so often. I spoke with Kim, the office manager and she was saying how important it is to come to the office, yet she said it was okay to let my GP handle it, so it must not be that important or they just don't care if they are willing to say it is okay to go to someone for this other than a heart specialist. I want to first say that Dr.Notarianni was great for the 2 visits I had with him. He listened, was attentive, did not rush me, and informed me if his treatment plan that he followed through with. He ordered 3 tests. Two of the 3 tests were completed and reviewed with me. When I returned for the third test which was to be a bubble study, the nurse could not find a vein for an IV to perform the test. She poked 3 times in each arm and said "I can't find a vein. You have small veins. You have to come back" Apparently there was no one else skilled enough to find my veins. I have had to have an IV at least 40 times in my life and this has never happened to me. So, now I am told I have to come back and they have to find someone in another department who is more skilled to be there. Fine. I make the appointment while I'm there for one month later. I take another half day off work, come in and they say my appointment has been reschedule and they don't know why. They had no idea why someone from the call center rescheduled me and did not inform me. They tell me there is nothing that can be done now and I have to come back AGAIN. I have to take another half day off work to come back. I don't know on what planet it is acceptable to have to come in 3 times during work hours in order to have 1 simple test performed. The office manager apologized. If they had offered to squeeze me in while I was there, I would have absolutely not written this review. Telling me to return a third time due to their incompetence is unacceptable. They are grossly inefficient, have poor customer service, and basically need to get it together. I know this review won't make or break Virginia Heart, but I want to tell you it's been a very poor experience for me. Had a SCAD heart attack in the summer. Dr. Berger is great, but the office staff is lacking. I have seen Dr. Berger once since my HA. It's nearly impossible to get an appointment and if you do, you'll see a PA or NP. They are not knowledgeable about my condition. The NP came in the room and the first thing she said was, "I don't know anything about SCAD." Not what you want to hear. The PA just sent me to the ER because he said he couldn't do anything. I do not recommend this practice. Terrible customer service! I message the doctor and the nurses concerns and questions. They only respond sometimes. I have had high blood pressure for the last 2 weeks. The cardiac rehab nurse and I called and messaged out of concern. Today they made me an appointment and called within 30 minutes to say they had double- booked me and couldn't see me after all. So, I'm going to a satellite office instead. I've had a very bad experience with this practice. I wouldn't recommend them. Hope they make some changes in staff and their customer service sooner than later. read more

Dr. Patel is great and the office is efficient, but they have a real racket going wit CPAP supplies. If I didn't appreciate the fact that they run an efficient office and really like Patel, this would be two stars. You'll get excellent care here, but THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA: I called because a tube for my CPAP broke, and I just wanted to get a new one. They made me make an appointment and meet with a tech, then charged me $20, even though I've only had the equipment for two weeks. I was already a little curious about this set-up. The tube is $10 on Amazon. My fault, I should have checked there first. But this whole meet with a staffer for 20 minutes to buy a replacement part (probably so they can charge your insurance) is ridiculous. (I'm not talking about when you first get it. Yes, you should spend some time with a professional then.) read more

Was in the emergency room for 4 days and currently trying to make a follow up appointment with Virginia Heart per the discharge instructions. Been on hold for 3 hours and nobody has picked up. Other days, the wait is usually over an hour to get someone on the phone. When I finally get a hold of someone, I'm certain they'll say the doctor can't see me until January 2022 because they never have any openings. read more

My husband was only twelve minutes late for his echocardiogram appointment due to a traffic accident on the roadway and a ten minute wait to get into their garage and park. It was the first time he has ever been late in his many years as a patient here. They cancelled his appointment. I was twenty minutes early for my appointment on the same day and they took me in immediately. Neither of the echocardiogram technicians would agree to fit my husband in after my appointment even though they were well ahead of schedule. The office staff tried but the technicians would not be persuaded. Ironically, the doctor made me wait in the exam room over 20 minutes to review my results. When informed that the wait would be at least another 10 minutes I chose to leave. Is a patient's time that much less valuable than the doctor's, than his staff's? The bright spot of the visit was nurse Jasmine who was kind, pleasant and informative. She demonstrated the type of understanding and respect that any patient deserves. Go somewhere else if you need continual cardio care, find a private practice doctor one that isn't making money off clinical trials with no connections to Big Pharma. If you enjoy dealing with robots Dr. Gofreed is your best choice for sleep medicine. It took me 40 days to get an appointment with her after undergoing a sleep study at her previous facility, Arlington Sleep Medicine, in 2016. My appointment was at 11 a.m. I was out of her office at 11:05 a.m. barely having spoken to her about my current issues much less my long-term concerns having had sleep apnea for almost a decade. I won't be going back. Her Virginia Heart office is in Arlington, VA. Combat wounded veteran's seeking help from Dr. Gofreed should definitely go elsewhere. Her advice was to "go to the VA because they have people who do sleep medicine." read more

I had problems trying to reschedule my appointment. On Monday I started the call to re-schedule the appointment; was told someone would call me back so that I would not loose my place in line; that did not happen. So, the next day I called was told they were at lunch, so I called back at 2:20 pm. Someone answered, but after giving her my name, DOB she hung up the phone. I called back and someone hung-up the phone again. As of today, at 3:06 pm, I am not able to re-schedule this appointment. Do not charge me for this appointment, and if this is the type of service I can expect to receive going forth, I need to find a new doctor. read more

Dr Patel is my sleep apena doctor and is incredible. His professionalism, depth of knowledge, "bed side manor" and personality are brilliant. He tells you what you need to here in a manner that makes you want to follow through on his directions. With any luck I'll be writing a follow-up review at my appointment next year. Haha. read more

I really liked my experience here. The office is huge, but it runs like a well-oiled machine. They called me back to a patient room on time and the doctor saw me pretty quickly after that. Dr. Farrell was friendly and thorough in answering my questions and looking over information I brought.
