We never need an excuse to find a new breakfast place. And so it was, passing through the Lake Elsinore area on an errand, this cafe popped up. Hidden in an upscale strip mall in the beautiful, hilly area of Lake Elsinore near Canyon Lakes, we arrived at this cute cafe. They have a small but beautiful, hard to resist patio. We resisted this time. Too hot, June gloom was a no-show. They offer weekday specials, including very affordable breakfast options that run under $9...if you get there on time, before 11, I think. We didn't. So, lunch it was. The menu is diverse and interesting, a mix of American and Mexican diner food. Our meals ended up being a half pound Mushroom Swiss burger and a Reuben on rye. Both were delicious. We both chose a side of big, crispy onion rings that come with their Ranch dip. These were a nice surprise, an exceptional bonus that won our hearts. We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, a very friendly man who has put his heart into his business, while waiting for our food to come out. As a result of that conversation, I realized I will need to try their corned beef hash someday soon. While it comes pre-made from a supplier, he emphasized that the finished dish has added ingredients to round out the flavor and make it their own. Go ahead, lure me back. I love a good hash. He also brought out a complimentary glass of his special cucumber lime beverage, house made, to share. Very refreshing and addictive. I highly recommend. Been to VIPs a few times and I have to say that every visit has gotten better. Both the food and the service are good and they're very attentive with service making sure you're well taken care of. The place itself has seating area inside and outside to enjoy a nice day outside. Inside, they have some TVs that you can watch as you eat. This café is located in the Stater Bros shopping center on Canyon Hills & Railroad Canyon Roads with plenty of parking and a good size patio with outside seating. Today, we tried their 'Strawberry Creme Crepes Breakfast Combo', 'Chilaquiles and Frech Toast (Half/Half)', and their 'Huevos Rancheros'... accompanied with fresh Coffee. Food tasted amazing with great presentation. Shout out to our server Liz, who was attentive, helpful with the menu, and made sure our coffee cups were filled. The restaurant is very clean and organized with nice decor. Restrooms were also clean during our visit. Since we moved to this area and occasionally needed a place to meet up with friends or family, we decided to try VIP Diner near the house. There are times when they would be busy, we lucked out that day we went. Nice and cozy inside. Very friendly staff and servers. I always order the bacon, egg, and pancakes breakfast. My daughter tried the Eggs Benedict. She found that pretty good. She said not many know how to make the dish. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Under new ownership.. This place has only like 14 reviews prior to mine. I'm happy to report an excellent experience. What personality and customer service, Yes, I said personality. The friendly people working here seemed like they cared about what they were doing and about giving "customer service". I loved the glass cups. Let's start there! 60 plus year old woman and I loved seeing the caramel macchiato blend pretty into my clear coffee cup! Tte menu is huge and creative. The specials are there. The breakfast pancake $8.95 is the special I think I'll hit with some of my friends. ( M thru F) I had the Avocado Toast from the light menu this visit. It was fresh and tasty and just enough .. guilt free and hit the spot! The best today was the setting. The drive from Terramor is a hop on the freeway and then we are looking at hills, and new developments and this nice area. Sitting in the restaurant is very comfortable and comfy as we are looking out the window at beautiful hills so close as if to touch them. None of the customers were ready to leave! Wow! 10/10 this place is the spot. The food was amazing I had the chile verde omelette and it was spectacular my husband had the huevos caballo and he finished his entire plate. The menu has a lot of options to choose from. The service was incredible we had multiple staff checking on us and making sure our glasses were never empty. The owner Jerry came by and introduced himself which doesn't happen often he was very friendly and welcoming.
