Honestly one of the worst experiences ever. We took a ride that lasted maybe 2 minutes, and this guy seriously tried to charge us $200. No warning, no price upfront - just made up a crazy number at the end. Total scam vibes. When we said no, he completely lost it. Started yelling, getting aggressive, and even threatening to call the police to force us to pay. Like what?? Over a 2-minute ride?? Super rude, super sketchy, and honestly embarrassing for the company. If this is how your drivers act, you've got a serious problem. We're definitely reporting this to the city because people like this shouldn't be working events or dealing with customers at all. Stay away unless you want to get hustled and yelled at. read more

We took a really short ride from downtown to the harbor late at night and got charged $260, and the price was never clearly explained or agreed on before, which felt super misleading. But what made it way worse is that after the ride the driver literally followed us, was yelling and called us "garbage", it was really uncomfortable and honestly felt unsafe. After that we checked reviews and saw other people had similar situations, which is honestly concerning. We asked the driver for a ride to our hotel we had walked halfway to little Italy from Petco and were waiting on our $6 Uber that was stuck in traffic. I asked how much before getting in and he said $10 when we got to the hotel he demanded $120 cash. We disputed but he said prices are posted (near his feet) which we NEVER saw! Me and my son got a ride to our hotel for $30 but they charged me $128, he wouldn't give me the option for a receipt or anything as soon as I scanned my card, he jumped back on his bike and left. After reading reviews multiple people have had this happen to them. Looks like this is a normal thing, overcharging and hopes that nobody notices. This is illegal and I'm filing a police report. Disclaimer: not 100% sure the outfit we rode with was VIP Pedicab but the below review applies to the pedicabs in downtown SD in general. You take this ride for the experience not the price. Ours was a very short trip just four blocks or so but we had a very lively driver who weaved the cab back and forth at key moments and pedaled hard at times so as to show us that he was really putting something into it. Music playing added to the ride. The arched lights around the cab are a nice touch. At the end of the trip the driver and I agreed on $20. each (stated written prices inside the cab are $15 (minimum) - $30 per person) and I wanted to give the guy cash and I had only hundreds in my wallet and he didn't have enough change so he ended up getting $46. but he was a good natured friendly guy I didn't mind. If you're with your wife girlfriend or date she's the one who's going to appreciate the experience the most do it for her it's our San Diego equivalent of the gentrified livery cab pulled by a horse in Central Park NYC. read more

Do NOT use these guys! After reading reviews (after my experience) I see that I am not the only one. What was supposed to to be a $40 ride turned into a $400 charge on my credit card. And since everything was verbal my cc company isn't doing much to help. We got a ride for 1 mile. The guy (Adam I think was his name) was super sketchy about everything at drop off, wouldn't let me see the charges, I paid using samsung pay, he didn't offer a receipt and didn't even give me the option to tip, he just kind of rushed off quickly. Now I see that was because he was adding hundreds of dollars on my card. I am having a hard time even getting in touch with the company. I am so angry. I am planning on filing a police report. This is the most exciting way to explore gaslamp.. By far! My friend and I could have stayed on the bike all evening, it's such an adrenaline rush! I was an attendee at this years distributech expo and conference at the Convention Center, and NEST home technologies had hired VIP pedicabs to provide free rides to any and all attendees. Even though I am a local, this was my first pedicab ride. The drivers were not only professional and efficient, but gave great tours of downtown. If you are looking for an overpriced way to go 2 blocks then take a pedicab!!! Me and 3 other people went from a pizza joint in gas lamp district to the Mariott Hotel for a grand total of 2 1/2 blocks and the dude said it was $12 per person, so $48 total. Price is a rip off but hey, i'm too drunk to argue and just wanna get into hotel. I pay with my card and later the next morning I see $48 pending in my account and tonight I go to check it and BOOM!!!! The final charge has posted for $55.20. Please tell me how I can make this up?! Seriously like the biker fuck said....hmmmmmm, that will be $55 and dont forget the 20 cents please! My husband and I did the DTSD Craft Beer Pedicab Tour and we had a great time seeing downtown San Diego and their well hidden craft breweries! We really loved the crazy tastings at Ballast Point brewery and the very strong beers at Stone brewery, so it was great having a VIP pedicab to get us around downtown. It took a lot longer than expected at the Neighborhood bar, we actually got our food before our drinks. But Quartyard really ended the night great, what a cool place in the middle of SD! I was picking my friend up in front of the Santa Fe Train loading zone today. The fellow pictured parked awkwardly in the loading zone, blocking the way for people who really had business there, all the while on his cell phone. Clearly he was taking a "work break" in an area that was designated for train passenger pick up. I asked him politely to re-park his vehicle and he refused. I had to squeeze my car into a safe spot and tapped his vehicle due to the way he was "parked." I am an excellent driver but due to his decision to be on his phone in a loading zone, it was a tricky maneuver. He got off his pedi cab, starting screaming at me and invited others into calling me a fucking bitch and that I had "white privilege." Then he and his new acquaintances continued to terrorize me. If this is the type of people this company hires, do yourself a favor and find another source of transportation. I called their office and voiced my complaint, including the attached photos. We spent a wonderful evening in the Gaslamp district and by the Midway thanks to VIP Pedicab and our driver Eser. Even though a VERY LONG train interrupted our journey, both ways, Eser made it special with his conversation, music and very comfortable cab. He was professional, courteous, charming and fun and made our journey a safe and engaging experience. What a great way to be part of the Saturday evening in the Gaslamp , feeling close to the crowds and excitement but not swallowed by it. He was respectful of other cars and pedestrians and allowed us to be immersed in the evening and get where we needed to be, enjoying the whole journey. Honestly super great service. I was lost and walking about in the WRONG direction looking for the Horton Grand, and the guy pulled up. He was super friendly and nice, told me I was walking in the completely opposite direction, and since i already walked so far, I didn't really feel like walking.
