So this is what happened: I took a pair of boots to get the heels re-done to VIP Dry Cleaners, cause it's just up the road and it was too stormy to walk to Jervis.
I was told it'll take 4 days (panic, my favourites shoesies!!) and would cost a tenner.
Fine, the laziness and the price outweighed the style issue.
When I returned the following week to collect them, a different lady was working there and charged me 15Euro for the repair. I told her that I was quoted 10Euro and now she's asking for 50% more than what I thought it would be. She insisted that this was the price for boots and showed me a piece of paper that had a '15' written on it. Clearly a very valid argument -not! Politely I told her that I was not happy with this situation as I would have gone somewhere else if I had known the 'correct' price but as opposed to working with me, she said she can't give me the shoes if I don't pay. Clearly I didn't want my shoes to be held hostage so I paid but surely won't be returning. But what's a lost customer compared a quick extra fiver, ey?
The heel job itself was grand. It's a heel, it's new. Over and out. read more
