Bravo and kudos! After going here for 5 months, I've learned a lot of things. Having gone to Nautilus since I've lived in Montreal, the initial visit to this gym was jarring. The space was smaller, things were more cramped than I was used to. A bit too chaotic (during peak hours) I thought. But now as the time has passed and I understand the gym's "groove" more I gotta admit that the vibe here is quite excellent. A very social and friendly crowd whenever I attend. There's always smiles and banter between members, members and staff, the staff amongst themselves. And that "chaotic" vibe I got during peak hours is now something more poetic and playful. Very cool gym! Sarkis, the big honcho there, is a totally cool chill helpful man. Very friendly and receptive to feedback. The man knows how to run a great gym spectacularly.

The facilities themselves are clean and well maintained, exactly what I would expect from YMCA-type organization. My only complaint is that the building is a little bit maze like, so unless the gym or other room you are looking for is right on the main floor, you've got a bit of searching to do. There is signage, but with multiple different looooooong hallways and stairwells, and multiple changing rooms, you're bound to take a wrong turn from time to time. Thankfully the staff are all friendly and helpful and don't hesitate to point you in the right direction. Although I haven't made use of it yet, in signing up for a class you need to purchase a yearly membership card (pretty standard), that entitles you to free swim. Nice! They seem to have lots of different options, from a monthly free for as many classes as you want, to weight room and cardio machine use for a few, to individual classes. I like that there are multiple options for people who don't necessarily want the whole shebang.

Lots of different types of classes available. Sauna areas included. Great class trainers. Bleachers area for people who can come to watch. Place is clean. Front lockers specifically for valuables. The bad: Pool water can be colder than we think it might be. Class trainers are overworking (barely have a break between classes). If one pool has an issue, reorganizing space between other pools is an hassle. Lots of stupid parents not watching their kids. Changing rooms can be crowded by families. Changing rooms can be slippery. Aside from people being around and in your way (see the bad section), the place itself is a very nice one.
