Chicken Parmesan? We ordered two; this is what we got. I would be ashamed to serve this.

Terrible experience. Long wait to order. Then the waiter comes back to tell us they are out of Pastel de Quiejo. Then we try to order pizza. Out of pizza. Ordered a palmito salad and received a tray where someone dumped palmito out of the jar or can....ummmm, ok. We ordered two Chicken Parmesan and received two completely different looking dishes, both worse than mediocre. With the extremely long wait and, frankly, the inedible looking food, it was insulting to bring such dishes out to customers. We saw MANY people arrive, sit and wait and leave because of how long they had to wait. One man and his wife got up angry and left after the long wait and mediocre food. The man who I think was the owner was apologetic, explaining that since it was Jan 1, many staff didn't come to work, and those who came were hungover, etc. Ok...I appreciate the honesty and explanation. But I think at some point, if you are understaffed and have too many people arriving to eat, then you have to make a decision: close for the rest of the day instead of providing mediocre food, Or create a reduced menu that you can manage with a smaller staff... Who was cooking anyways??? There is no way a trained cook could have made such unappetizing dishes. They tried to offer us something different, but again, after such a long wait to receive something so disgusting looking.... We paid for our bottle of wine and left to eat at Galeto Sat's

Great live bossa nova music every night. You do have to pay an entrance fee to watch the live performances but they were worth it. Eri Galvão was great. He played before the main band but we enjoyed him more. He explained the origin of some songs and shared some great stories about Tom Jobim and other musicians. He also made an effort to translate for those that did not speak any Portuguese. The place was empty when we arrived (around 9pm) and by 10pm almost every table was taken. The food was ok. Nothing to die for. I would go again just for the music.

Delicious restobar nestled into the bustling Ipanema night life. I was seated promptly and an…read moreEnglish speaking server was able to help me get an English menu. I had the Grilled Chicken with Broccoli rice, which initially sounded slightly strange and bland but turned out fantastic. The grilled chicken was well done but also well seasoned with savory hints of salt, pepper and onion, deliciously crisp with every bite. The strong savory chicken blends perfectly with the soothing broccoli rice side and I devoured both after a long day of hiking. The dish also came with fries (not advertised in the menu), which tasted better than most american fries and were fresh, crisp and a nice tangy complement to the meal when paired with ketchup. The entire dining experience was enjoyable and I would highly recommend this spot for future tourists and visitors of Rio!

Cute little open air pub style establishment about three blocks from the beach in Ipanema…read more Fantastic service, food is a little hit and miss. We ordered the pizza calzone which was delicious and the calamari which I would not recommend. Calamari was heavily battered and a little fishy -- if you're used to the lightly battered style you get in the US, this will seem more like the batter they use on fried clams. The Italian sausage (check out my pic) was the highlight though. It was so good, we actually ordered a second one. And of course, being as immature as we are, we laughed at the enormous length and made a lot of dirty jokes as we ate it. Fun! The drinks are smaller here than most other places we've been but are strong. Caipirinhas were good, but we had better a couple blocks away at Porcao. The ambiance is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable for Rio and like most restaurants in the city, they add a 10% service charge.

And the food? Top tier. My personal favorite was the Truta Grelhada, perfectly cooked and full of flavor every single time. I also have to shout out Fernando, easily one of the coolest, most genuine waiters I've come across. He really made my birthday experience special and went above and beyond to make it memorable. And you honestly can't beat the location...right across from Ipanema Beach, which just adds to the whole vibe. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Rio. Highly recommend checking this place out!

I ended up spending $300 reals for one item, two small sausages and a few of the little Coxinha. Compare this to something local, I was able to get a bigger portion that was able to feed 4 people with the same price. The service was although decent though, they were able to get to my table quickly. I did show up on a time where it wasn't lively as it was shown on social media so service was fine. Although the atmosphere was great I did like the environment I was in. This restaurant takes advantage of being a corner staple in front of ipanama beach.
