The students were as well and I felt right at home. Great instruction and 30 minutes of hard but controlled rolling. Everyone was great. Good mix of ages at class. (I am 48). My whole family, my wife and three daughters have been training Jiu Jitsu and MMA for more than 5 years. I don't take who my wife and daughters train with lightly. We visited many gyms in the Tampa area before deciding to join Gracie Tampa South. Now after nearly a year of training here, I feel qualified to share my assessment. The kids and teen programs are second to none. Not only do the coaches provide absolutely impeccable technical instruction, they create an environment that engages the kids, keeps them positive and motivated. My three daughters have never been more excited and motivated to train than they are at GTS. The competition program, again is exceptional, and the GTS Competition team's performance and results shows this clearly. You really have to experience how these coaches are so good at creating an awesome environment for the kids to learn all the amazing lessons that come from training Martial Arts. There is a very specific reason that this gym is such a great place. It comes from the top down. This attitude of professionalism, positivity, and the creation of such an exceptional environment to train is due to the exceptional leadership of the owner and head Coach Matt Arroyo and his family. Not only is the coaching and support staff so good, but frequently the very best MMA personalities in the world will be hosted by the GTS team. I've had more opportunities to train with World Champions in just the last year at GTS than in any other place. It's an attitude of excellence from the leader that permeates the whole gym. You will never not come to her school or class and leave unsatisfied. Kyosahnim Melissa is always there to be an understanding individual and help her students in any situation. Any student of hers can vouche that she will teach you how to be an incredible TaeKwon-Do Martial Artist while also teaching you to be a well-rounded person. I started TaeKwon-Do at age 7, and what I can say is that TaeKwon-Do instilled discipline in structure in me that I carry along in every aspect of my life. Due to TaeKwon-Do's training I have learned to advocate for myself, speak to adults/have meaningful conversations, stay organized, stay engaged, and persevere. Being taught the 6 tenets of TaeKwon-Do (Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, and Loyalty) has allowed me to prosper and thrive. BEWARE: You will have an incredibly difficult time to cancel your membership. This merchant isn't…read moregood about returning calls or responding to emails. I called repeatedly in February 2024 to try to cancel and finally got a return call stating to email him. I immediately emailed him with no response. I have continued to get charges of $149 in March 2024, April 2024, and now May 2024. I have had to do chargebacks to my credit card. I have now cancelled my credit card and had to update all of my other providers due to this ongoing issue. Fortunately, I am dealing with a credit card provider, if this were my bank account I would probably be out of luck entirely. On a side note, our son found the Jiu Jitsu class to be very boring and the repeated lessons with nothing new made this too much of an expense to incur monthly.
