The garlic bread is quite thin and oily, not at all crusty and substantial as it should be. The caprese salad are large beef tomatoes instead of flavorful Romano tomatoes, with only a half-round of mozzarella, topped with a ton of olive oil and packaged basil (not FRESH, whole leaves, as it *should* be). The ratio of cheese to tomato and Basil as a result was waaay off - it should have had 1-1-1 ratio until the last bite. The white ricotta was mostly flavorless with a slightly mysterious metallic taste. Not good. I was looking forward to biting into some nice, big slices of ravioli with ricotta oozing out, as I'd had so many times before elsewhere and instead I received bite-sized pre-packaged ravioli that appear to be boiled in plain water. The cheese inside was flavorless and chalky/dry; not at all what I expected for a ricotta filling. It should have been packed with flavor and bursting from the pasta. I picked the napoleon sauce because it's a classic, but this was not good. It could not mask or make up for the lackluster ravioli. Not nearly enough flavor. Could this be canned? I make far better than this at home. I tried my FIL's agnolotti with hazelnut, spinach and ricotta white sauce, and it was just as flavorless. Lastly, we received desserts which were also underwhelming. The tiramisu should have been light and fluffy; a dreamy experience. It was hard and was basically coffee-flavored ice cream. The "papaya cream" I expected to come out like ice cream thigh, and instead it came out like soup. Interesting... Very disappointing experience. I would've expected more for an Italian establishment that has been around for as long as this one has.

Ugh...Where do I even begin?…read more.. To preface this review, we had arrived in Sao Paulo at the hotel across the street at night. It was raining, we were hungry, and we were desperate for some good food. We looked at this place but the prices were quite steep so we checked out all the place around the area, all of which were closed. It was only 23:00!!! We didn't know businesses closde that early in the city. Anyways...we came back to this joint to sit down and eat. We got the menu and they put down some stale bread with some roasted veggies and sun-dried tomato dip. Of course, we ate it...being hungry and all. We ordered the chicken parmigiana and some basic meat sauce pasta. The waiter brought out the food...and they were MASSIVE. This makes sense that the food was pricey. This place is FAMILY style...which the waiter failed to tell us. We order two big plates that could have fed 4. The food wasn't even good! It was super simple (tomato sauce out of a can and topped with cheese) and didn't taste anything like authentic Italian. Was so sad...so much food gone to waste. Then we get the bill and they charged us for the for the bread/veggies starter. This was before we knew about how shady restaurants in Sao Paulo just place starters on your table without asking and expect you to pay if you eat it. Warning: DENY starters if you don't want them in Sao Paulo or you will pay for them...culture shock indeed. Anyways...we ended spending US$80-90 for 2 simple italian dishes...AFTER we argued about not wanting to pay for food they placed on our table. The man was furious and rude after that fact and threw the check down on our table...but we don't care. I am not going to pay for things I do not ask for. Thankfully...restaurants in Sao Paulo aren't all like this... Português : Ugh ... Onde posso começar? ...

There is a QR code on the table that you can scan for an English menu. Thankfully I listened to the server in his suggestion that I order a half salad to go with the Green Lasagne I was ordering. I ordered a cap rede and even the half portion was huge. The tomatoes were big and thick slices. Yummy. My green lasagne was amazing. The server puts a portion on your plate. Good thing, since half of that came back to the hotel with me also. The lasagne was scrumptious. It had ham in it and a white sauce. So very good. I ended to ordering a tiramisu to go. My server packed up everything for me and put it in a nice bag. Based on the number of bags I saw on other tables, that seems to be the norm. The portion sizes are large and the food and service are excellent. A clear winner. I will definitely be back.

The most important aspect of a rating for me, the food, was only worth 3 stars, and the ambiance and other little nice details don't quite push it to 4.

We ordered a very nice Chilean white wine and enjoyed the focaccia and olive spread that started off the meal. The atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant. We sat in the front of the restaurant, which I think is a bit less crowded and noisy than toward the back near the open kitchen. There is a also an upstairs that looked very nice and intimate. The service was very good as well. Our waiter was attentive, but left us alone to chat after we had finished our meal. We had no trouble getting a table, but we went early by Brazilian standards (7:30) on a Sunday night. I imagine it gets quite crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. I thought the prices were inline with what I've paid at other nice restaurants in Sao Paulo - about R$40, $20 U.S. - for pasta, a bit more for the meat or seafood entrees. We were all too full to think about dessert (the portion sizes are quite generous), but I would like to come back to try them because I've heard good things!
