I have a good friend who lives in the neighborhood and I always try to make time to stop in and purchase a case of wine when I gisit.. They know their wine and always have a thoughtful, reasonably priced selection. I appreciate that they have searched to find wines that may be less known but delicious. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Great selection and very helpful staff. Order the Coto de Imaz Rioja as well as other Spanish and French wines. They always have a great selection at a range of prices. Good for every day table wines and special events. read more

Vines on Pine - Half bottles - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - New York, New York

Good selection of wine. Free delivery. I do wish they had an online ordering platform where you could keep track of your likes/dislikes of wine you have tried. read more

Fantastic wine and spirits collection presented by extremely knowledgeable staff. If you are looking for the exceptional not the ordinary at very fair prices, I highly recommend Vines on Pine. read more

Hard to find good wine store in the heights! The staff was super friendly and was not pushy at all. They definitely give you the space you need to select the right wine for you but are always around in the event you need a suggestion with with wine selection or with general pronunciation (My French is not the Best ) The store is very well organized and makes everything very accessible without feeling pertinacious. They have wine tastings on weekends! read more

I read an article in the newspaper about amazing new varietal Greek wines. I was dying to try them but I knew from experience I was unlikely to find them easily. In the past I have had to pester wine shops to order things for me. By way of contrast I walked into Vines on Pine and, just to my right of the front door, they had them! They were at rock-bottom prices and they tasted better than bottles I've bought at more than twice the price. That made me so happy I just had to thank VonP for their awesome curation. read more

Very nice selection with an awesome and helpful staff that was more than willing to assist me with my selection. I ran into Vines on Pines hours before the new year (2019) to help celebrate the ending of a great year. My wife and I have two similar but different wine preferences and with that in hand I was greeted by an employee who helped find the right selections for the night read more

Great selection of French wines. I had just returned from July in Paris and they hooked me up. Nice staff, friendly. read more

Vines on Pine - Fantastic delivery of French wines for about $9.99 each. I was in Paris this summer and this is a great deal. - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - New York, New York

A very good selection with very friendly and helpful staff. Their delivery prices and overall bottle prices are very affordable. They have a range of wines and other types of liquor. They have weekly specials that allow to pick up a decent bottle at a bargain price. If you are not sure what exactly you want, the staff gives great advice and is more than happy to help. I've discovered several favorites that have become regulars in my home. read more

Vines on Pine - outside of a liquor store - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - New York, New York

I want to like this place but I just can't. The selection of red wines is good but there is not a lot of variety of white wine. They also need new staff. Every time I go in there the employees are chatting with friends or on their phones. When I ask a question I'm met with distant stares and unhelpful answers. As a customer I feel simultaneously ignored and disrespected when I go in there. I'll be taking my business to Cabrini Wines on 181st St from now on. There's more selection, the prices are better, and the employees are infinitely more friendly and helpful. read more

I live very close to here, and of all the things in this neighborhood, Vines on Pine is the one place that I'll probably come back to the neighborhood for when I move. What stands out about this place to me is the way it is curated. The owner is frequently in there jovially stocking the shelves. You can tell he maintains the selections himself, and there is not a bad tasting bottle in the store. I've never been to a place that dispenses advice on wine more willingly and more aptly. I'm pretty sure everyone who works here is a sommelier in training. I'm not just saying that, I can recall hearing the store clerks discussing their studies once. I often walk in and say "I'm eating [x] for dinner tonight, what would go well with that", and they always are quick on their feet with multiple contrasting options and the different ways they'll interact with my food. One time, they suggested a wine that I've bought a bottle of almost every week since then. They have something for everyone here; I usually stick to the cheap bins in the middle, but there's something for every price range. I usually go in on Friday afternoons when they have tastings, and have tried some wines that I couldn't help but get a hold of after a taste. The selection of spirits that they have is pretty limited, but very good quality. If I could make one criticism about this place, it's that I wish they had a wider selection of cheap spirits, but since they are a wine shop I can't fault them a star. read more

I love love love this store. The owner is just the friendliest, most knowledgeable, jazz-loving wine enthusiast. He really gets to know his people. I've been coming here for nearly 10 years. This store really shines in its combination of selection of excellent wines at ~$10 and the excellent selection of pricier, more select wines for special occasions. The wine associates are always delightful, pleasant, neighborhood young people. I just love coming here. (FYI they used to be located on Pinehurst, hence the name). read more

Should actually be called Vines on 187th... This place isn't actually on pine st. You guys should be proud of where you're from. 5 stars for being a wine shop and selling wine which validates the "vines" part of their name but zero stars for false advertising about geographic location for the sake of "witty" word play. read more

Vines on Pine - Clearly not on Pine street. - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - New York, New York

Great selection of wine and liquors and fantastic customer service. The wine prices are very reasonable and taste amazing. The employees are very helpful and never pushy. Did I mention they can chill a bottle of wine for free in about 4 minutes? read more

Great selection of value and higher end wines. We're boxed wine fans and Vines on Pine carries a few nice ones including VRAC and Pepperwood Grove GreenBox. The liquor, although not a bargain, is pretty comprehensive with a number of options from craft distilleries. The wine and liquor tastings are always great! read more

A good selection of wines, and some other spirits. The store is new and tastefully renovated. The staff is personable and helpful. I don't drink alcohol anymore, but the store is popular with the locals, who have an upscale palate. read more

Great wine selection but shady cashier. I have been a loyal customer at this store for 3 years. Today, I tried to purchase 2 bottles of Prosecco and proceeded to checkout using Apple Pay. After my iPhone tapped me with a clear notification that the payment went through, the cashier told me to pay again. I processed the payment again without a doubt, thinking they wouldn't scam me after periodically buying their products over 3 years. After the payment went through, something didn't seem right, so I checked my bank account and found out that they indeed double charged me. What was more troubling was that, when I told the cashier about the situation, the cashier did not sound at all surprised and did not even try to verify the duplicate charges as if he knew he double charged me. While they refunded the money, it is indeed a potentially alarming business conduct that customers should watch out for. read more

I moved around the corner from this place in December. I've lived in this area previously and had no plans of shopping with a new wine shop as I had one I loved on Broadway. However, proximity to home won me over and I dropped in one day. First thing I noticed was the use of space was great, it's a tiny shop but I don't feel crowded even during peak hours. The staff is really friendly and will either spend time with you or give you space. I'm often beat from my decepticon of a commute and the staff are always quick and friendly. Sometimes I'm disgustingly lazy and the team will deliver my wine and put the charges right on my house account! This gem is the perfect example of a neighborhood shop and I couldn't be happier. The prices and range of product also rock! read more

Very nice selection, with a bunch of price ranges and grape varieties. Small liquor shelf in the back too with a bunch of everything (I even found cachaca which is not a liquor a lot of stores sell). I've liked everything I've bought in here, even the cheaper stuff. Owner and staff know their stuff and are always willing to help out. read more

We opened a bottle with my friends last night that I bought from vines On Pine and it was very good Vallevo Rose' from Italy.

Excellent selection, fair prices, knowledgeable staff, owner who is keen to engage, dog friendly. The perfect neighborhood place.

Friendly staff and a knowledgable owner. Great selection of wine and spirits at good prices.

Excellent wine selection, prices unbelievably affordable for both red and white wines. Staff is reliable with answering questions, giving suggestions, and overall displaying a keen sense of the bottles history. Great atmosphere, team, and location. read more

Beware!!! Do NOT buy any Bourgogne or Bordeaux wines in this store. It was corked or plainly spoiled FOUR times in a row based on my purchases within last six months. They do not even try what they sell. Just go to Cabrini wines. At least they do not sell outright crap. read more

Good selection of wine. The manager Terry is super nice and very knowledgable. If they don't carry something you love just chat with Terry as he sometimes can get it into the shop. My only complaint is the delivery - it it the worst. Takes well over an hour for delivery and when you call to ask where your order is they give you the standard lie "it just left". This is not Terry but the semi-lame staff. read more

Great selection and typically extremely helpful owner/staff and a super pleasant neighborhood ambiance, however the kids that were left in charge this time could not be bothered. One of the young ladies was having a conversation on her cell, when I requested help she yelled out my request to the other young lady, who was chatting away with someone else (not sure if a customer or a friend). Without turning to me she handed me the bottle she had in her hand and said there you go and continued to chat. When I asked for a specific wine or another option she turned annoyed and showed me the other option all the while still chatting with the other person. A simple lesson in customer service would be great: greet, offer help, try some eye contact, maybe a smile. read more

This is a wonderful shop, the kind that would make ANY neighborhood worth living in. Can't understand bizarre/bogus "review" of some Alex character who complains about "corked" Bourgogne (if there is ever ANY problem w/ wine bought at this fine store-- simply with cork being improperly pulled, never mind defective (how unusual) you bring it back, it is replaced, you are always treated beyond well-- directing people to shop at another local store (Cabrini Wines, which has its own merits) immediately "blows of the spot' (as has long been said in this hood) of whatever clown is posting this nonsense. The only outright crap here is a "review" like that of "Alex I," which does not reflect the experience of anyone who has ever shopped ONCE at this lovely establishment. YELP needs some better gatekeeping and/or guidelines regarding its "reviewers" I do not know what "Alex I's" motives are (perhaps fishing for credit card numbers?) in posting such- you want to talk about crap? But this store- and the fine, very reputable distributors- like Rosenthal- who provide much of its Bourgogne and Bordeaux- do not deserve to be slurred or spammed (not does the Yelp site) by such an obvious TROLL. Caveat emptor. read more
