If you are interested in the best pumpkins around you have to get them here in Sellersburg, Indiana. We were passed along to this place through word of mouth. They have a small petting area with alpacas and goats. They even have some baby goats. They usually charge around 8.00 to feed them. Although our week day visit they offered us a free feeders cup. The area of the barn is large for the animals but small enough for a human being to come and see the animals they have kept. All the animals are well cared for. The staff was very friendly in offering us to feed the animals at no charge. If you're seeking a pumpkin they have ample in the front of their stand. They have some great varieties for different sizes of pumpkins. They offer eggs and other fruits for sale that come from the local farmer here at the store. They have ample parking in a small lot in front. Come and see what you can find here grown locally and sourced for you. It's a great way to see the countryside and community.

Some pumpkins had price stickers on them, but it's still nice to see a price sheet. They had some yard game available and some refreshments. A small quaint petting zoo in the back yard, along with a hay maze. Parking is located right after their house in a grassy but taped off section/ park any way you feel style. Not being able to get food, a table, a drink, or get on a hayride just isn't fun. Today we decided to try our luck at a new spot, Sunny Acres Farm. Sunny Acres took us roughly 30 minutes to drive to. Parking was close, easy, and free. Adult tickets are $10. My children (four and under) were free. Sunny Acres has a small storefront with pumpkins, baked goods, salsas, candy apples, etc. They have various vendors lined up on the short walk to the pumpkin patch. Vendors include artists, kettle corn, and other refreshments. Admission includes access to the petting zoo, bouncy house, pick your own flowers, hayride, corn hole, live music, corn maze, games, and playground. My son rode a pony for $2. The lines were either nonexistent or short. The employees (or perhaps owners?) were friendly, accommodating, and provided a family feel that other similar businesses lack. We ate a meal while we were there. We had hamburgers and hot dogs. I know they also had chili behind the storefront and various other food trucks, including ice cream and adult beverages (cocktails and craft beer). I can't think of anything Sunny Acres lacks. I'm actually afraid of word getting out and having to share this experience with too many people. But, this family farm is worth patronizing.

When she moved me up here many years ago, one of the first places she took me was Huber's. We've been back countless times over the years, and it never disappoints. Our latest visit included my nephew, his new wife, my niece, and her 10-year-old son. My niece-in-law is from New York City and had never experienced life on a farm. (Last year, we took her to pet a horse for the first time!) So when she wanted to go peach and apple picking, Huber's was the obvious choice. Let's just say she and my 10-year-old great-nephew absolutely loved riding the trams and picking fresh fruit. My nephew and niece enjoyed themselves too, even though they both grew up on a farm in Georgia. My wife and I took a more relaxing approach, sampling some of Huber's excellent adult beverage offerings while enjoying the live band. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. All in all, Huber's once again lived up to its reputation as one of the best family destinations around. It was a neat experience for the kids. They really had fun wandering through picking apples. We got back to the farm market, tasted some of their apple cider, shopped their homemade selections and then due to the cold opted to choose pumpkins already picked instead of going to their pumpkin patch. I'd never seen such massive pumpkins. Each of the 3 kids picked their own pumpkin and little did we realize the price tag. They are $0.60/per pound. My daughter and her husband ended up paying over $50 for pumpkins. Needless to say, I'm not sure they will be doing that again. The ambience is cool. Helen's homemade german chocolate cakw might be the best I've ever eaten. In addition, there are hot dogs, sloppy joes, chili, bean soup and corn bread and nachos for sale. Beans and cornbread were pretty tasty. A covered, open air dining area and plenly of picnic tables for outdoor dining. Plenty of parking and the friendliest and hardest working owners and workers all around. Family friendly. Last weekend of the season, but put it on your calendar for next fall. The family are also at the local farmers market all summer and fall selling the jellies, jams, fresh eggs, beef, breads, etc.
