All of those things I stay awake thinking about from yesterday's long gone now, but all alive and we'll within me, and in my basement and attic. "Vintage" search populated just south of nothing, well - there was an address and a name but it looked weird, I believe there was a dash and a random letter sitting curiously upon the end, so I went to check it out. Yes, you guessed it - it was a booth in the mall. Bummer? Heck no! What an opportunity to walk and explore the mall world with a few exceptions to my early mall memory. For one thing, it was on one floor - Queens Center Mall, NYC 1986, the gold standard to me. There were no people either - not in the booths, not walking around - nobody as in nobody, minus the two girls at the very front of the store. Actually I became aware that malls can be all on one floor once I was out of the New York area. Visions of Day of The Dead began, the second George Romero zombie movie after Dawn of The Dead, back then zombies were smarter than they are now, just like some people I know now. Ya ever feel dumber walking away from a conversation with someone you knew years ago and hadn't seen in a while and - well, it's just hard for me to ingest that. Anyway, those zombies entered a mall, what a great horror movie - actually, all the movies in that series were excellent - any horror fans out there? So I bought a few shirts, nice quality cotton tees with a picture of an angry bear on one and a skull on the other and slashed the sleeves off the moment I got to the urban assault vehicle. I've been steadily working out, I'm driving a bit slow with NYC plates in foreign territory, I'm gonna show the cannons - which they're not, but have size when I squeeze the steering wheel in just such a way. There was a pair of boots that I really liked but I had questions about them and nobody was there and to ask about returning them or - ya kno- it just wasn't the right time, but I loved the place. Anything non- perishable was there in 8x10 booth sections, lots of vintage lamps and cool leathers..

Especially considering that it's all made by hand. We ordered four chairs/stools. The seat parts are half barrel heads and the legs are barrel staves. They are sturdy and well worth the price that I paid. I was able to customize the height and color/stain. They took two weeks to be made and turned out better than the example that they had there in the showroom. The owner or whoever makes the stuff is very friendly and an absolute hoot. He loved my Toms, except not. He said that they were the weirdest shoes that he's ever seen. He totally reminded me of my grandpa. If you're a bit dry, you may not get his sense of humor. When we went in to pick them up, he joked and acted like the chairs weren't ready yet. That wasn't too funny at the time, until he let on that he was only joking. Shew.

Stayed here for one night's lodging after attending an event in the area. I was in the upstairs corner Lincoln Suite and the stone walls are thick and several layers of draperies contribute to the quietude. Although the building is old, many modernized remodels have been completed. However, do not expect an up-to-date type space. For example, there is a slight step up into the bathroom. The door to the room also rattled whenever someone else closed a door elsewhere .... Or maybe that was Lincoln's ghost? I was too tired to fret about it and slept well. Would recommend staying here at least once for a unique experience. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Menu is in the room to contemplate ahead of time. Went down to the dining area prior to my check out and had a nice dining experience. Ordered the Traditional Breakfast option and it was well prepared and satisfying, so overall also a great value. There is also a Keurig coffeemaker in the room. Staff are all very welcoming and proficient. Parking was free next to the property.

We had looked at the historic rooms at the nearby Tavern (our reason for visiting), but decided not to take our chance on stairs we'd have to negotiate to get to a room. However, the Inn has a very large and convenient elevator, so that's the place we chose. (Note: the elevator is very slow...but what's the rush?) The reception desk and area is small but adequate with odds and ends of tchotchkes for sale. Receptionist was very polite. Our room was spacious! And...I mean bigger than the photos represent and much larger than we imagined. Large comfy bed, plenty of soft and medium pillows, fridge, microwave, chairs to lounge, relax, or read. Complementary bottles of water, coffee and coffee maker. All nice touches. And thermostat was easy to adjust. Bathroom was fine, clean, well-stocked with one notable exception, which we find in nearly every hotel we stay in these days: No towel rods to hang wet towels or wash cloths. That is, except one hook high up on the back of the bathroom door. (Virtually out of reach for my wife. We find this an unreasonable inconvenience in all our travels....(so only a half point deduction here.) Windows provided beautiful views of the square and were seemingly well-insulated....so no terrible traffic noises to keep us awake during the night. (OK...A few trucks in the morning, but not too early.) All-in-all we give this lodging very high marks and our solid recommendation. Oh, and very reasonably priced to boot!

The 2 Amish furniture stores near Cincy could not help us. E-town went the extra mile to locate and order exactly what we wanted. When we arrived to pick it up, the gentleman owner was friendly, courteous, and went the extra mile to help us load and secure it for the ride home. When checking out, he took the time to talk with us as people, not just customers. There are a variety of items on display in the store and the number of items you can order from catalogs is seemingly endless. He works with several different Amish manufacturers, and can even custom order pieces to suit your needs. The furniture is well, built of solid wood with durable hinges and hardware. This furniture is reasonably priced and of quality that should last a lifetime! Definitely worth the trip to E-town!

So I went in during a weekend festival from Louisville Kentucky I live in Texas they gave me a demo…read morecopy of a CD that was not even wrapped so that I could give it to someone for Christmas when I called to talk to someone about it the person answering the phone said the order the owner wouldn't even be in for a couple weeks they don't have a manager and the only thing she could do was give me the phone number of the person the CD belongs to who is not the person that sold it to me she said she's sorry that happens but people make mistakes and there was really nothing she could do about it. So much for supporting small businesses I won't ever buy from anyone on that street again if this is how things are handled. I got it out to wrap it for my mom before I go back to Texas was going to walk it next-door as a Christmas present and it's clearly marked demo the lady pulled it from wherever her stock was there is no way it's got scratches all over there's no way I can give it as a Christmas present. It's one thing to make a mistake it's another thing especially before Christmas to tell somebody that it's their responsibility to drive over 65 70 miles to rectify a mistake they made and then refused to even give my message to a manager or an owner. Just wow. We have been down there so many times and my grandmother was actually from that city and I never expected that kind of treatment from somebody in a hometown. I will never support small businesses again. It's one thing if somebody makes a mistake it's another thing to be treated that way and their refusal to make it right. My nephew brought bought $150 train from there I told him to check in and make sure it works. This is why I don't buy from small businesses. Because they can get by with treating you like crap. The rudeness on the phone and the ladies continually talking over me and not even letting me get two words out because she was too busy defending herself in her store. I'm just blown away. I came down there with my family that I haven't seen in seven years it has put such a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm a 60 year old woman on disability and was so excited about the eight dollars I spent on my mother and how much she was going to enjoy that item. Now all I can do is cry. My 90 year old father passed away in August I bought this for my mother thinking it would comfort her because it had church hymns and songs on it that he liked I was not able to come to the funeral I thought it would be something special.
