My fiancé and I had fantastic stay at Talbott Inn when we stayed in Bardstown! We read some great reviews on the Inn when we were planning a bourbon trail trip and were impressed with what we saw. Let me tell you that this place is a great place to stay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We met the owner who gave us the history of the Inn and it's famous guests (Abraham Lincoln, Jesse James, George Patton). The room we were in (Daniel Boone room) was spacious and perfect for two people. The breakfast included each morning was the best continental breakfast that I've ever had. I can't say enough good things about the Talbott Inn!

At the last minute, we decided to stop in Bardstown to do some Bourbon shopping. We were lucky enough to get a room at the Talbott Inn. The Inn is one of the oldest buildings in Bardstown, built in 1779. Many famous people have stayed here, including Abraham Lincoln and Jesse James. We stayed in the newer part our room was large and very comfortable. There is a restaurant and bar at the Inn we didn't eat at the restaurant but did enjoy the bar. Just a heads up that everything in Bardstown closes up early. The only disappointment was the breakfast. It was cold, and the waitress looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there.

Went to dine at the Historic Talbott Tavern. Beforehand we looked through the gift shop which was filled with lots of interesting items. Since it is located in Bardstown, KY which is the Bourbon Capital of the World it is filled with just about anything having to do with bourbon including candy, glasses and bourbon cigars!? After eating, we were allowed to tour the Inn. It is very rich in history so I took photos of the many bits of historic tales of who had stayed there before. We couldn't see the inside of any of the rooms because they were filled completely up. Since we only live 45 minutes away we wouldn't have a real need to do so, but having no vacancies is a good sign. Built in 1779! and here the village where I live is historic - incorporated in 1855. They beat us by a long shot!

Capped off the night at the bourbon bar where we met the nicest lady who eventually revealed herself to be an owner.

Me and my second oldest daughter stopped in here the other day to browse for possible Christmas presents. While we didn't purchase anything it was a fun place to browse. Slightly cluttered but that's ok as it means they just have a large inventory of options. Pricing wise I'd say they are on the high end a tad for our liking. I'm able to find likewise items in louisville or online a tad bit cheaper. However they are located in an extremely popular small town/touristy shopping area so I understand the slight increases. The workers here were extremely nice and helpful and give you the small country town welcome you would expect. Overall a very cool store. Just because we didn't find anything on this trip does not mean we will not come back and purchase in the future.

Everyone can find an idea. They also have cocktail slushy drinks...yummy! With samples. My mom and I both bought two packs. I also splurged a little, and bought a piece that just spoke to me. She kept calling me to buy her, that my home needed to be her new home. :) Whatever I needed to say to make it ok to buy. Large painting in a beautiful frame. Love it! Can't wait to go back and find my next treasures!

I was impressed with their layout and various items that I returned the next day to buy some souvenirs to give my family. With parking plentiful and short walking distance from all points downtown -- bars, restaurants, and all, you can come to Artists Barrel for various odds and ends-type of purchases. In my visit to the Artists Barrel, I bought Kentucky hats for my Dad and Stepmother, a Kentucky hanging ornament and a bourbon scented candle for my Mom, and a pair of bourbon boxers for my Aunt. It was quite a joyous morning considering I was hoping to do all of my souvenir shopping at one spot and did so at Artists Barrel successfully. Overall, Artists Barrel had everything for what I was seeking during my trip to Bardstown.
