I called every one (literally) and talked to them about their capabilities. Based on talking to them I narrowed down the list of competent shops to about 10. I then sent each an identical drawing and rfq for 5ea of the part specified in the drawing. The quotes came back in wildly variable. Cost ranged from $13ea to $120ea. Lead times varied from 5days to 8 weeks. Mun's quote was $13ea and 5 days. We pulled the trigger on the 4 most reasonable quotes (expecting some wouldn't deliver on their promise). Only two shops delivered as promised. Diamond Tool and Die and Mun Manufacturing. We were shocked. Mun has delivered on time and on budget for us ever since.
