So I did the Tom Yum Soup. Instructions were laid out in front of us. We had ingredients already or almost ready for us to start cooking. All we need to do is just to chop up the ingredients. We also had a theme. So we had the Vietnam dishes. I was in charge of making the Tom Yum Soup. It came out delicious. I really liked it. The other dishes were delicious too. Our instructor was Ching and she guided us in every step. Constantly watching how we cook. We had a great time. Everything went well. I also found out that every Friday they have couple's night cooking and Saturday they have classes for kids. At the end, I have to say it was fun. If you bring your own wine its cheaper but they have to pour the alcohol for you. Great team building event.

The store has a great collection of cookbooks, spices, kitchen equipment, specialty foods and equipment and lots to choose from from various nationalities. It is sometimes busy in there but line ups are generally not long. I inquired about French cooking classes and online ordering. Doors open at 7pm, and when you enter you are given wine glass. There are stations throughout the entire kitchen, and the chefs & culinary students are preparing each dish right in front of you. You're welcome to ask any questions about how the food is prepared. The dishes for the 2016 Big Taste event included rack of lamb, sushi, flatbread, shrimp & grits, wings & fried vegetables, lobster bisque, crab cakes, rabbit, duck confit pirogies, and ginger beef. Every singly one of these dishes was amazing. For dessert, there was a selection of chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, panna cotta, tiramisu, and banana bread pudding. I tried it all, and the dessert was a surprising let-down. The dark-chocolate mousse was hard, the panna cotta was soupy and under cooked, and the banana bread pudding was much more mushy than any bread pudding I've had. The milk chocolate mousse and creme brûlée were enjoyable. I hope the desserts are improved for next year. There were wine stations throughout the kitchen as well, with wine from several BC wineries. I think there were 6 stations, and each had a white and a red wine, and you could drink as much as your heart contents. Overall, this is a fantastic event, with amazing food. $85 is pricey, however it's such a unique experience, and you can eat & drink all you want. Definitely worth it!

Our group came in to the commercial kitchen in the culinary campus, and the activity was to make our own dinner together. We chose a Japanese style. I have to say, it was really fun and a great variation to the typical staff Xmas party, great way to get to know your coworkers better. If it weren't for this, I'd probably give a 1 star. The bad part was the instructor. While he seemed to have decent culinary knowledge, he was quite overbearing, almost acting like he was the head chef of a large restaurant and at times spoke to us the way he might to a line cook on a busy night. I do not believe that was part of the intended experience as it was odd and unwelcome. Some of the food was fine, but the proteins, particularly the flank steak (done basically tataki style) was waaaay too salty (the instructor dressed it) and also far too many birds eye chilies making it almost inedible. Overall, the food was not great, and I don't think it was because of our staff putting it together.

This was pre covid and I still plan to go when they restart the overseas programs. At the presentation we sampled wine, appetizers and dessert. Beautifully pared and delicious. They made it so interesting and exciting I decided to take some of their classes in January, 2021. I signed up for 7 classes - Knife Skills, Cooking 101 (4 Classes), Stocks & Sauces and Made In France. My two favourite types of cooking are French and Asian. Needless to say I am very excited! Their in person classes are always small 10-12 people maximum so you get a lot of personal attention. We visited in the…read morewintertime but I'd love to come back in the summer because they even stock the pond out front with fish that can be caught. We came with a school group and they did an amazing job with their educational presentations, it was fun and informative, and even my little guys were entertained with the performance. We also really enjoyed the fish feeding experience and seeing the sheer volume of fish that are hatched and raised here is eye opening. They take care of their facility and are careful with cleanliness here too and it really shines. Doing a scavenger hunt and learning to identify different kinds of fish in the lower fish tank areas. And these older fish really did seem like they were listening to us if we stopped and talked to them- that was probably the fishiest part of our visit! Fish talking lol And upstairs the displays are so well done! Lots to see and the video that was playing was really great too. Learned a ton here!

The pond is a modest catch and release pond for kids. More of an educational experience just to cast and reel. So you won't exactly haul in bucketloads of trout. $20 weekend classes every Saturday for 2 hours. Requires reservation. Seasonality applies - you can check their website beforehand.

They also use this facility for Basketball training camps, tryouts and regular seasonal games. Holds a lot of players and can hold multiple events at the same time because of the size. A great set of bleachers for friends and parents to watch and has a large parking lot which makes it easy to drop off or stay and watch. Located at the Curry Barracks, which is under extensive renovations on the entire grounds area. New roads and buildings in the area so it's a bit confusing to locate if it's your first time.
